Score from 2345 reviews Very good
Central location, quiet street, good wifi and big rooms (that after I complained about the one allocated to me the first time). Very good value for money.
The double room I got was advertised as 18 sqm and I got an 11 sqm one, tiny, for a double bed, barely any place to move yet the bathroom was half the size of the room. They don't have room service, and as I was told by the manager...it's because they only have 2 waiters for breakfast. Old TV and furnishing, looked like the 70's. I left the room for 6 hours and when I got back the room wasn't cleaned and I was told that's because I left the 'do no disturb' sign on, which wasn't true. Except for the lobby nothing is 4 stars. Oh yeah. And the towels...have seen better days.
Fast efficient service including immediate contact on discovery of items left behind. Location perfect for sightseeing. Breakfast buffet excellent.
Its our second visit to the hotel Lovely hotel, breakfast lots of choice, I would return to the Hotel any time I visit Madrid
We stayed at the Hotel “Palacio Maria Elena” for several nights two times, in November and December 2014. First time it was double room #115. Everything was very good. Hotel situated in real geographical and historical center of Madrid. Hotel is in the Aduana Street between Gran Via and Puerta del Sol. It takes equal time if you go East to get Prado Museum of Tyssen Bornemissa Museum or on the other hand you go West to visit Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral. It takes from fifteen to twenty minutes to get all those museums from the hotel by walk. So, hotel situated at the very center among all tourist destinations and shopping areas. Room #115 was equipped with all necessary things. There were the TV set, refrigerator with mini bar and air conditioner in the room. Wardrobe with safe was also present in the room. Bath room was equipped with the bathtub. Second time we stayed in the room #415. Bath room was without bathtub, instead there was shower cabin. It was big enough even to put there several very tall and very fat persons. Hairdryer was available in the bathrooms too. Everything was although not new but functional and clean. Free Wi Fi was available in all areas of the Hotel. Food in the restaurant was standard for Spanish hotels and quite good. All personnel was very helpful and polite, all people at the reception spoke fluent English. Majority of guests in the hotel were Spaniard well known as open and friendly people. So, my conclusion is that our stay was comfortable and excellent in single room of this hotel!
There was no bin in the room for rubbish
Great location, kind staff
If your room faces to the street you won't be able to sleep.
The hotel was within two minutes walk of a busy thriving area, with plenty of eating houses, bars and metro station.
Being in a suite at the front of the hotel, and facing onto the street, meant we heard late night guests leaving the local bars, and early morning deliveries to those same bars
location, evening meal, value
location and breakfast
aircon didnt work, no TV remote for the 1980's TV, no listing for the phone to know the number for reception....poor, i would not stay here if you are aged under 80.....
Breakfast to compare to other Spanish hotels was really good. Location is really good, central area just behind the corner.
Noise at night time, because there are some night clubs/restorants located at the same street
Loved everything about this hotel, location excellent, staff fantastic. Hotel really clean. Spacious rooms, had a problem with air con and they changed the room for us without any hassle. Would highly recommend this hotel
For being in the centre of Madrid it would be very hard to find better for the money.
Good location. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast. We like the hotel and regularly stay at it when visit Madrid.
Good wifi,great location,very clean
The beds were as hard as rocks. One could not sleep because the noise on the street below was incredibly loud. It did not stop until 6:00AM. It was a gong show to say the least.
having a private terrace was a pleasant surprise.
Location was great. Breakfast was great. Nice room. Free wifi.
No tea/coffee making facilities. Mini bar only had 3 small bottles of water in it. Some staff need to be more cheerful.
Friendly helpful staff Relaxed Atmosphere in bar/seating and generous measures with regards to drinks/snacks Wide range of breakfast available Excellent wifi (free) tv lounge if needed Left luggage area Hair dryer
Fridge didn't work in room Slightly hard bed Would have been nice to have flat screen tv (like in my sisters room)
Really helpful and friendly staff.
There's a nightclub next door. It's only open fri n sat. It's fine a long as you go out lol
The staff and breakfast and wifi
Beds towels carpet small rooms noisy
Location is perfect! A cosy and quiet street right in the center of Madrid in a walk distance from all importantant sights. Staff is very welcoming. Hotel is very comfortable and nice inside and far better than many other 4 star hotels in other destinations in EU. Excellent value/money rate. Free wi-fi in rooms. Bathroom is very comfortable and clean.
Just a tip: if you are a vegan, when booking a room with breakfast, give a notice in special requests window beforehand. Though I am sure, if you ask the staff, in this hotel you will find understanding and assistance in any case.
great location staff were helpful
Facilities were a bit worn
Staff friendly and helpful - provided directions via city map to tourist sites - can buy the hop on / hop off bus tickets right at the hotel desk, pick up location very near the hotel - hotel breakfast was good value
Room was basic, bed very firm and only 2 pillows
