friendly owners, lovely grounds, dog-friendly, beautiful area, biking on vie verde nearby
We returned to Mas Duc, sadly only for one night, having had a very enjoyable stay in September last year. We felt at home straight away. The food was as excellent as we remembered, and the staff were a delight. We look forward to another visit.
Really friendly, v welcoming staff
Got a warm welcome and the owners are such nice people. They make you feel at home from the first minute you walk in. Food and accommodation where great, and the ambience was perfect to relax. Kids enjoyed the quad bikes and horse riding, which is an extra they offer for free.. Will sure go again, as it would be a great place for a weekend break. We had an early flight back home and had to leave at 5am, but the owners still prepared us a picnic beg with bread and muffins etc, it is something so sweet which we appreciated, as they really did not need to go out of their way. A place to unwind and relax. Will definitely go again.
The wifi could be sorted out, as only had signal in the main reception. On the other hand, it is better as you can spend time with family and not stuck on electronics.
Most recommended, great food, a warm hospitality - Mas Duc is a wonderful place to spend your holiday. The mention is beautiful and well kept, with lots of attractions for the kids including a swimming pool, livestock animals, horses you can ride on and outdoor games. We enjoyed every minute and highly recommend Mas Duc !
What can we say about Casa Rural Mas Duc? When we arrived it was almost immediately clear: Paradise exists and it is called Mas Duc! What a great place to celebrate your holiday. We stayed for two weeks and every day was a pleasure. Carlos and his family are doing everything they can to make it unforgettable. Perfect junior suite, delicious diner (Tapas for three!), great swimming pool and not to forget: everyday quad riding at 5:30pm! Never been better! It was a pitty to leave again, but the good thing is: you can always come back. Thanks for everything and hopefully see you all soon!
As the friendly daughter of the owner reminded us, Mas Duc is really a place to unwind and “chill out”. We did just that! Free car parking area Beautiflly large junior suite. Enjoyed lovely views west out on to arable land. We had one large bedroom linked to a dressing area and huge fitted wardrobe and a lovely large bathroom with brilliant walk in tropical monsoon shower type system. Dinner was out of the terrace overlooking the pool and chill out area (large sun beds under huge canopies). I was really surprised at the extensive, modestly priced menu, having assumed that, being a captive clientele, the prices would be heavy… I chose from the set menu – a cheese/chorizo bake which was really moorish followed by solomillo of pork, grilled red paprika and chips. My son went for the standard chicken nuggets and chips. We washed this down with beer, lemonade and huge jugs of cold water. Super!! Breakfast was a more traditional Spanish buffet style with cold meats and the chance to make your own Pan Catalan. We took our breakfast out of the same terrace overlooking the pool and just soaked up the gentle, quiet and serene atmosphere. The hospitality throughout our short stay was nothing short of excellent. The young lady also offered free horse riding or quad touring but we’d had a long days driving & I needed to give our dog a long walk in the surrounding countryside.
I was a bit apprehensive when my car’s navigation system failed to find the address and it took us quite some time and trial & effort to locate this lovely, secluded old property. The bath had one of those spa type whirlpool systems which I used to attract my reluctant 12 year old son to have a bath – pity that it didn’t work, but at least I ended up with a clean son for dinner. Relatively poor quality of the WiFi connection despite numerous boosters throughout the property. I would have loved to strangle the cockrel who seemed to be located just below our window & who started to crow almost continuously from ca. 4 o’clock in the morning. It being very hot we also missed any form of air conditioning… But we were staying in such a lovely traditional property up in the hills away from civilization, so what can you expect?
Really nice location and setting, nice pool, clean and spacious rooms. Pretty good food (but nothing exceptional as some reviewers wrote).
Prices on the high side, including food prices. Wifi link quality into rooms fails.
Service and food! location
very bad wifi!
Excellent place in very silent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food is delicious. We would be happy to stay there again and to recommend to our friends.
The food is fresh, home made, very good, especially the tapas. The family does everything possible to give you a good and relaxing vacation. Nice nature around, silent place, and still only 30 kms from the Costas. Kids (12j) enjoyed swimming pool, horse riding, playing with dogs, and wii games. For the parents, there are many quite and relaxing places around the Duc to sit and enjoy.
Nice place to rest and make walks in the forests. The design of the garden and the building is exceptional.
Nothing to complain.
We loved the house, the room, the gardens, the pool, the animals, the quads, the playground, the great food and the people who run the hotel. It was our second time at Mas Duc and there will be a third time :-)
Staff are very helpful, place was really nice, everything was perfect.
Restaurant was lovely. We had to leave for an early flight so sadly didn't have breakfast. it was a great shame as it was raining so we could not use the facilities.
The house seemed very dark.
Friendly staff, peaceful place, good food and wine
Relaxing, natural environment Quad riding Very friendly personnel Nice pool area
Easy to reach location
Characterless building. Mediocre food. Noisy Quad bikes as one of the "attractions" for guest use.
Outstanding hotel. We usually don't spend too much time at hotels for their activities, nor do we even eat at hotel restaurants but this was the exception. One of the best hotels for families. Our daughter especially enjoyed riding the horses, petting the goats, and playing in the pool. It was very relaxing and will likely go back and probably go with other families we know with kids. Staff was very friendly, food was excellent.
Wifi was a little slow.
Where to begin? Mas Duc was the perfect country experience - my young daughter literally cried for days after we left, missing the beautiful labrador dogs she befriended. The owners of Mas Duc are charming, the food outstanding and the facilities for couples & families are wonderful. We stayed at the beginning of April so not really swimming weather but we all enjoyed the pony rides and just sitting in the lovely garden relaxing. The separate childrens lounge is brilliant, and the family suite with seperate area for kids bunk beds was great. The location is also wonderful - not far to Girona. We would highly, highly recommend.
There was nothing, except we all put on weight from the wonderful food!
Excellent, cheerful friendly proprietors and staff. Make you feel most welcome and as if you were at home. Very good food. We have already returned!
WiFi reception was not as good as I would have liked, but everything else was so good that it more than made up for this deficiency.
We had a great stay in Mas Duc. My children said this is the best place they stayed during two weeks travel in Spain and France. That says it all! We love the place too. Clean and spacious room, comfy beds, nice breakfast. We love the country setting.
Very good evening meal, excellent breakfast choice. Made to feel very welcome, as were our two dogs. Will revisit without hesitation
the staff, the breakfast, the area. beautiful landscape
the design of the room, old fashion, not very glamorous
We were greeted straight away by Joel who seemed genuinely pleased and interested to see us. Our whole stay was one of complete relaxation, with the feeling that one was a guest in someone's beautiful home. All the fruit and vegetables were home grown, and the food was delicious, interesting and very well presented. We could not fault the food and the friendly service. We definitely hope to return to Mas Duc in the future.
