A bit out of the way

The hotel is a marvelous facility. We came to Bilbao to specifically visit the Guggenheim museum. The Melia hotel is a very pleasant five minute walk along the river from the museum. The hotel was a wonderful bargain for the price that we paid

Staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming, and our room was fine. Thank you.

The entrance was shocking. Greeting clients every day were two disgustingly full and smelly large ashtrays on either side of the entrance, and four dead plants. Most unwelcoming and we never want to have that experience again, anywhere. We were amazed that a Melia hotel would present such an awful 'welcome'.

Great staff. Very helpful and polite. Nice facilities but maybe a little dated. Price was very fair. Great bathroom!

The plastic window shades would heat up in the sun and smelled very bad. The maid kept closing my window even though I wanted it open and had the air/heat off.

Wonderfully comfortable bed and excellent quality linen. Fantastic buffet breakfast.

Excellent position for walking to Guggenheim, old city etc on the edge of an elegant park with fountains where we had breakfast in a cafe, reception incredibly helpful and nice, secure parking under the hotel, near Michelin restaurant had tasting menu really delicious, had a massage in the spa also good. Bed extremely comfortable, well equipped bathroom, would stay here again definitely

Difficult to find when driving into Bilbao not obvious main entrance - also not the easiest city to get out of to the ferry lots of one way streets. Breakfast at 16 euros prebooked, 22 euros if you turn up on spec seemed high. But the room price was excellent deal.

The staff were well trained and extremely friendly. Particularly Hichem in breakfast. It is very close to the Guggenheim and the tram is close by and very easy to use. There is a large shopping centre right opposite the hotel, which is not obvious at first, because it seems liKe a solid brick building.

A small negative is that wifi gets lost a bit on the eighth floor, although sitting out on the balcony, or on that side of the room helped.

Loved the modern hotel, the lifts made going to your room an adventure. Great location close to Gugghenheim & also San Mames bus terminal.

Although they were always helpful, thought the staff were quite hit & miss when it came to being friendly. They were either really friendly or quite brusque.

Excellent heated outdoor pool and well equipped gym, nice and clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Modern and comfortable hotel with very helpful staff.

The architecture is very interesting, the room is quite big and nice, location is great (very close to most tourist points of interest). Although we did not have the chance to try it, the restaurant seemed to have a good reputation.

We were not at all happy with having to pay 24 eur per night for the parking, separately from the room. The bed was also not very comfortable.

A modern, well-designed and attractive hotel in an excellent location. Good sized rooms, large beds and well appointed bathrooms. Comfort and style combined to make your stay a pleasant experience.

++: Only 10 minutes from the centre of bilbao, good possibilities for shopping and food directly in front of the hotel. Good breakfast, good beds.Nice overview from the room in the 9th floor.

--: Noise coming out of the bathroom, Air conditioning, but the worstest was, that the employees at the reception are partly not able to speak or understand english. Crazy! I think the hotel is very good for 4 stars, but 5 stars are to much. Swimming pool is to small and to cold, and the sauna isn't a sauna.

The rooms are excellent and it has all the facilities

The management of breakfast was somehat deficient, but that may be because it was very busy. It was a pity that the restaurant was closed on many days.

Position, clean rooms

Despite an administrative handling of my case (two booking in advance, 1 of the guest could not reach Bilbao by force majeure reasons --> Lufthansa issues in weekend) which was right formally, I had the impression that it's far away from a propositive way to look at customer topics. So I was having to pay double for two rooms, 'cause of my credit card booking and the hotel staff didn't fight internally for a better accomodation nor try to find a solution. That I consider unacceptable for a hotel at such a level of pricing and reputation. And I will not return or suggest any mate to go this hotel.

Very well insulated room no noise, superb outlook over park. Huge comfy bed and electic blinds that cut out all light at night really good two nights sleep at this hotel. The guy who checked us in was very helpfull, giving us a map and Bilbo guide, and the lady who checked us out was helpfull offering bag storage untill our flight. Nice quiet breakfast room again looking out over park, nice choice of food with lots of very good coffee. The lift was an amazing ride up to our room on the 10th floor, like riding in glass capsule, hotel was warm with nice lighting and decor, superb bathroom with seperate shower, nice well appointed hotel well deserves its rating. Also a nice collection of ships half models displayed around the hotel reception area and lower area.
