Conveniently located across from central Madrid's Atocha Station, Hotel Agumar is under a 10-minute walk from the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía Museums.

The María Elena Palace is 320 yards from the Puerta del Sol in central Madrid. Its lobby has a beautiful glass roof, and it has rooms with a hydro-massage shower.
Score from 1608 reviews Good
In the classy Austrias district of central Madrid, this elegant city hotel is set close to the Opera House and Royal Palace. It offers an ideal base to explore the magnificent Spanish capital.
Score from 328 reviews Good
Francisco I is located within 270 yards of Madrid’s Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It has a 24-hour front desk and simple rooms with a private bathroom, TV and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 2601 reviews Wonderful
Very quiet room, high comfort level.
Lack of a view.
The location was perfect to visit Madrid.
The rooms are really small, even though we reserved the comfort one.
Hotel was located right in the centre of Madrid, 1 minute from Opera metro station and 2 minutes walk from the Royal Palace. Street was off the Plaza and relatively quiet for the centre. We were in the rear of the hotel on top floor. If you need a comfortable convenient base rather than a luxury experience then Meninas is spot-on. Staff are friendly and helpful. Price at the time was lower than equivalent hotels in the area.
Some of the rooms at the rear look onto each other, 3/4 m apart. At lower levels they appear small and would be quite dark. If this is important check that have a front room.
The Hotel was lovely, set in a side street near the Opera House, Opera metro, the Palace, Mercado de San Miguel and the Latina quarter to name but a few, you could not fault the location. The room had french doors opening onto the street, nice size room and bathroom, everything was spotless. There was a lovely lounge at the reception area. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment.
The noise from outside with the cars driving over the cobbled street and just general noise in the street at all hours. The only way we could block out the noise was to close the outside shutters, French doors and inside shutters. However my husband and I are light sleepers and other guests would maybe not be as disturbed. We did not complain as we felt as we liked being at the front of the hotel it was a small price to pay. Also there was no hotel bar to enjoy a night cap before going to bed which is sometimes nice.
Staff was very helpful during our stay, especially their assistance printing, scanning, faxing, and emailing documents to complete a transaction in the US. Room was cozy, clean and comfortable. Walked to Opera metro in 2 minutes, Plaza de Oriente in 3. Great little cafe with continental breakfast for 3.4 euros. Best find, a self service laundry just up the street.
The striped wallpaper and artificial orchids need to be updated, but that's just hallway decor.
Location Quality of hotel Helpfulness of staff
Our room was comfortable and the locationwas good with easy access to the metro.
The first room we were shown had little space and no windows. We changed to a much nicer room at the same price.
Lovely character hotel in an excellent location.
Hotel Meninas is very well located, in an elegant and peaceful street, close to almost everything. Subway line 2 and line 3 Opera is less than 5 minutes walking distance. Staff at the reception is very polite and helpful. Environment is nice and welcoming
What I dislike of the services is the breakfast, poor quality for a four star hotel. I think cleaning service should be better too.
Meninas provides the best breakfast I have ever eaten in Spain and we travel there a lot! Great location just next to the Opera house and very close to the Royal Palace and Puerte del Sol. Whenever we are in Madrid we stay here.
We had triple room 404 which was perfect as we had our own bedroom with a large double. The bed and bath linens were high quality. Slept well. Room was quiet and a/c worked well. Bathroom was large and had 2 sinks; tub with European shower. Breakfast had several delicious juices, hard boiled eggs, potato omelet, hot baked tomatoes, bacon and sausages, several meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereal, yogurt and cut fresh fruit - oranges pineapple and melons. Coffee fresh made from beans and several high quality teas. Staff were very helpful especially Santiago.
Great location, central to all of the historical areas and within walking distance to 100s of tapas bars and restaurants.
Location was perfect, in walking distance from most points of interest, but still on a quiet street. Staff was friendly and everything was oh so clean!
The room was smaller than what pictures suggested, but was cozy.
Great location Very helpful staff Quiet at nights with no / little street noise
The staff were lovely and the location was excellent. Walking distance to the shops and sites. The room we first got wasnt what the picture had when i booked and was a different description, the staff were great and sorted it out for us straight away and moved us into a better room.
Lovely balconies and comfortable beds
The room could have been a bit cleaner when we arrived. The room was not made up as well as shown on the professional photos on booking.com.
Nice room. Small hotel, centrally located but in quiet street. Quirky design.
Breakfast could be better. Poor lighting in room. Lift very temperamental.
The location was excellent - central but not noisy. The room was comfortable and clean. The buffet breakfast was very good. Lots to do in Madrid and we enjoyed our first visit.
The window in the bedroom was above the back of the bed and not meant for viewing out of - blind down at all times. The TV just had one Spanish channel - the TV explanation page was withdrawn from information folder. We didn't bother to mention this.
The room was the size of the walk in closet. The shower leaked. The bed was not a double but smaller And not very comfortable. The cleaning staff knocked on the door at 8:30 in the morning even though we had a do not disturb sign out and they didn't give up on the knocking but also called our room. If you didn't leave your room by 9:30 am you would not get your room cleaned. Compared to the five other hotels that we have stayed at in the last three weeks this was the worst
Location was very good with most places being within walking distance. Staff were very helpful. Lots of eating places close. Rooms very clean. Bathroom not a bad size.
WiFi could be slow in room. Lift temperamental at times with key card
The decor is nice.
Service was patchy. Greeted by reception with "have you booked?" Not provided with a city map or advice about breakfast when we checked in or oriented to the location of the hotel, obviously. 15 mins after being in our room, 2 strangers came in having been given the same room. This overroad our key settings, which had to be reset. Despite asking for a junior suite (all have king or queen beds) and offering us a regular suite, it was set up as twin share when we arrived. They said they didn't know we wanted it set up as "matrimonial". Doh! They did fix it by joining the two singles together. The lift broke down while we were there. Waitress at breakfast spoke no English at all except "whats your room number", despite a high percentage of english speaking patrons. Breakfast was brought in from a place around the corner, so no eggs can be cooked to order, only cold hard boiled are offered - pathetic really. Hot bacon, mushrooms and chorizo in a small bain marie. There is no room service after 11pm at night and no hot drink making in the room or self serve elsewhere. To have a tea or coffee between 11pm and breakfast you have to leave the hotel. For the above reasons, I have rated the hotel low on comfort and facilities. Is it really too much to ask to ask for a cooked egg in the morning and a cup of tea at night as I unwind from my day? At this place it is! An allegedly 4 star hotel. The bed was ok from a comfort point of view. Go elsewhere, you can do better than this.
staff were great, really nice and friendly. super helpful. location was perfect.
zero soundproofing between rooms - which kept me up at night. bed was very very hard (not comfy) and the TV was broken (not that you need a TV in madrid, but just in case!!). could have just been my room!! good price for the location though.
Friendly helpful staff, good clean accommodation. Good location.
Location is fantastic. Front desk staff were very helpful which made a difference. Hotel was very clean and quiet.
