Very good deal: I paid 35 euros for a single room booked at the last minute. The owner/caretaker was friendly: yes, he asked to be paid upfront (cf. other comment), but I see no problem with that - so it was done. The location is convenient for the Sagrada Familia as well as the Eixample and the Ribera and Born (all accessible on foot).
Nothing for such a price. Just know what you pay for: this is not a hotel but a student's residence which is empty during summer holidays (and the owner/caretaker speaks only Spanish). The place is clean but really spartan, so is not suitable for a romantic week-end. :)
We just stayed one day for sleeping before continuing our travel. Clean, in good location and nice quality/price.
It was a nightmare until it had my booking done. I did it through booking.com, with the account with which I made so many reservations and using a previously saved credit card. After a couple of hours, I receive an email that my credit card has been rejected by the property, so I send the same data again (even if it was used in the past). The result is that after a couple of hours, I receive the same letter, I called my bank and confirm that the card is active and I can pay through internet without problems. I call the property and the first surprise: They don't accept the reservation because the minimum nights are 2 and not 1, that "I should have read more carefully the description"; I hang up and check again the description, without any reference to any condition of minimum 2 days. After that I called directly to booking.com, describing the issue and getting as a response that are going to contact the property directly, saying that is property problem that they didn't configure the conditions establishing a minimum stay of 2 days/nights. This was the day before the stay, so I thought to change the reservation, but there was almost no place in other properties at that time in Barcelona. Anyways, in the evening, customer service of booking.com confirmed the reservation. Next day, when I was traveling to Barcelona, I checked I receive another email from booking.com requesting acceptance for an extra fee of 20€ for arriving around 00:00 to the property; this after already charging the half of the stay in the hostel (not refundable). As it was described in the description of the property (not in the final price that booking.com says it cost the night and not even in the booking confirmation). I accepted this "extra-fee". When I arrived around 00:00, I was ringing for 5-10 minutes until I get a response; he seemed to be upset because I did call booking.com they made a mistake of not writing the conditions in booking.
Location is great for the price. If you dont want to pay too much, Mestral Mar is right place.
It s not clean good enough. Hugo is a good guy, he was trying to help us but he couldnt. Cause he cant speak English :)
The hotel is at the central of the city so it is close every stop that necessary for the trip. There is also breakfast in every morning between 9-11 AM. İf you will check-in late in the night I recommend you to send a note when you make a reservation..
They have shared-bathroom. Anyway it is clean but not for me..There was a Hugo who is kind a director. He is a good guy but hard to communicate with him..Because he can speak only spanish..
the room was horrible. Located in the basement, accessible only by stairs steep. The bathroom was located on another floor of difficult access. The web pictures not match the room we got. The owner was arrogant and treated us badly when we call to complain. I do not recommend anyone go to this site.
