Somewhat friendly staff, WiFi always worked, so good for business; facilities to meet colleagues, supermarket and a couple of restaurants nearby.
Location 15 minutes out of town, so I had to take taxis all the time; restaurant not always available, swimming pool too small to bother, and nearby beach rocky, not sandy.
The athmosphere of the hotel was nice. I also liked the surroundings of the hotel, not in the rushy city center. Short walking distance to the Juan beach. Menu of the day was absolutely worth of the price.
That famous "older lady" in the reception. Other stuff and surroundings were good, as expected.
What we liked: a. The look of the hotel: at first glance it seems horribly eclectic - almost a kindergarten attempt at architecture, but then you come to like it; in any case, once seen, it can't be forgotten or mistaken – including by the taxi/bus drivers, which could be helpful; b. Some of the staff were sincerely friendly and helpful in spite of being more busy than in other hotels because of the conventional metal keys to the rooms - you have to leave them at the front-desk every time you leave the hotel and get them back again later - more work for the people there; c. quiet location and the small "wild" beach at the end of "Calle Oceano" - rocky, clean water and algae instead of mud at the other one nearby - very good for swimming - though not for basking in the sun on the sand - mostly used by the locals I understand; d. the restaurant, though it has a name different from the hotel so could be an independent entity; the menu was rather limited, but the food quality was extremely good for the Eu12.5, which also included a glass of "house wine" which is quite good, both red (Rioja, crianza couldn't be anything else) and white (Verdejo, Rueda), and the wine card list is longer and better than in most other restaurants we've been to, even at the end of the tourist season (mid-October). I am inclined to say that we'd come back to this restaurant even if we were staying in some other hotel close enough to Mio Sid (which doesn't mean that we wouldn't stay at Mio Sid again); e. the patio near the swimming pool area, though we only went there before dinner, seems one of the best places in Alicante on a hot day - so cool and cosy; f. they say you can't visit Alicante without trying its churros, well, there is a pretty good Churreria (Blanco y Negro, Colonia Roman Street, 10) within 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel - near the Albufereta beach, and some facilities in the A.
What we didn’t like: a. breakfast; absolutely no choice, asking for a second cup of tea/coffee seems almost an outrage. Could as well sell good breakfast separately; if we were to go there again, we'd try to negotiate accommodation without any breakfast at all - there's a small cafe across the road in Venetia (Alicante abounds in Italian and Ancient Greek place names!) commercial centre with lots of local people in the morning seemingly enjoying a much better breakfast of their own choice; b) some of the staff tended to be on the surly side, though it could be accounted for by the end of the season fatigue and the almost continuous change of hands of the keys to the rooms; c. Alicante is quite a big place and if you are interested in big shopping centres etc, you can't do it on foot, even by bus/tramvia it's not within easy reach for a tourist, but it's made up for by the quietness of the place. Most waiters were really helpful and nice, the room was tidied daily; great memories from this place
There was exactly the same breakfast every single day- more variety recommend.
very friendly staff, good quiet location, short ride on the bus into Alicante with bus stop nearby, excellent food, very clean, beach close by. Will certainly stay there again
the restaurant did not open before 20.30, there was a strange strong smell at times which seemed to hang over the area but was sometimes very strong in our bathroom but this was not the Hotels fault.
the pool area was pretty the resturante did good value for money food and the Nachos the bar man was very helpfull and made the stay in the hotel enjoyable.we payed very little to stay so was good value for money.
the reception staff were very abrupt and seemed like it was to much like hard work to help you.the first room stunk of sewage we were moved but only after basically being told we were lieing.rooms were tierd but servicable.
every thing. will be going back in a few months
Liked the location, quiet but only a walk away from beach shops etc. Hotel has plenty of character, clean and tidy. Beds firm may not be for everyone. Breakfast adequate if you don't want too much. Didn't have any meals here so unable to comment on value for money etc Lovely beer garden prices fair. Staff friendly and understood English quite well. Didn't use pool.area etc but quite small compared to photo. Overall would come back value for money nice location.
Very tasty meals
We got a quiet room with a view just like we requested with which we were very happy. Hotel is in quiet location, on convenient bus route of about 10-15 minute ride to beaches and Alicante center. Dinner in the restaurant of the hotel was delicious and portions were enormous.
The shower cubicle was way too small, it was hard to fit in even though we are not fat. Wifi did not reach up to the 2nd floor so we had to sit out in front of the room or go down to the pool to use it.
location was good with good transport links to town, most of the staff were pleasent. the outside of the hotel looked good
the rooms needed a lot of TLC the swimming pool needed regrouting and less cloride, the person on reception when we went to check out did not have a clue what our bills were and ended up telephoning Booking .com to sort out the bills, also she was not very pleasent and had a attude problem.
Much cheaper than ones in central alicante. Very friendly staff and comfortable
Breakfast was basic but tasty and evening meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. Hotel was in easy travelling distance to alicante centre via bus but also had some shops and restaurants in walking distance. Check in and out was easy and most staff were friendly. Cocktails were delicious!!
Stayed for one week and bed sheets were not changed at all. No coffee making facilities ie kettle were available. A particular lady serving breakfast was particularly miserable and her service consisted on plonking the tray of food and drink on the table and walking off, this however mustn't reflect on all staff as many were wonderful.
room cleaning the feeling of the mediterranean culture restaurant food
hard bed poor english skills with the staff lacked minibar
- Nice interior design - Good value for money
- Bad sound insulation between rooms - Location somewhat inspid: neither city center nor are the immediately reachable beaches particularly attractive.
Location, although a bus ride from the nicest beaches it was actually nice not be in the middle of all the action. There is a little cove close the hotel that is quite enjoyable. The hotel, though not luxurious by any means is quite cozy.
Instead of having a double bed we had two small beds pushed together, quite uncomfortable to sleep on.
Location, easy bus ride into Alicante Pool Staff Breakfast
Would benefit from better air con, but what is in place is acceptable
good value for money, good location (near by hotel are just local people)
The hotel was aesthetically pleasing. Pool area very nice.
The photo on the booking site gave the impression that the hotel was right on the beach. The beach was like an unpaved parking lot which was disappointing.
The room was a good size and cleaned regularly. The hotel was in a convenient place for 3 night stay.
The majority of the staff were friendly except for one of the receptionists who was very rude. The staff also said that there were no other restaurants or bars near the hotel, this isn't true. There are some opposite and its a 20 min walk to the promenade where there are loads of bars and restaurants
A nice hotel close to the beach. Friendly staff. The restaurant at the hotel is very acceptable.
There was a lot of stress on our arrival due to unready rooms. This meant we could'nt get our room in time.
Convenient to beach, but...
not a very nice beach. Room was not ready for over an hour past check-in time.
unqualified services at the reception
staff really lovely very helpful
not really geared up for the British but our fault for not being able to speak Spanish but we muddled along.
