There was very noisy remodelling going on and I had to move room The hotel is a little tatty I was a bit disappointed

If you are on holiday with a car, Hotel Monteros is ideal as it's easy to find (being outside of the town) and it has plenty of parking. We went for three nights and used taxis all the time - there is a rank at the hotel. It's a very friendly hotel and excellent value for 5 star. We ate in the restaurant once and it was very good - definitely 5 star. We will stay there again.

Unstable WiFi coverage. Decor is a little bit dated.

The room was very comfortable, the gardens were of a very high standard and the staff very competent.

We were in the hotel in January and because it was wintertime the airconditiong was not working. Our room was south facing so all afternoon sun. When we entered the room is was like entering a sauna. We needed to open the balcony doors all night to have some fresh air. What left us with a sense of insecurity. The carpet of the room was dirty, full of spots of I do not know what and a lot of hairs that were not ours. We complained and returning after dinner the room was clean. The wifi did not work at all. In reception they could not give us a solution so we have been almost 3 days without the Internet.

Lovely spacious and clean room. Breakfast variety was a delight when not too many guests around (otherwise it gets very crowded towards breakfast closing time).

I stayed 5 nights and we found the a la carte menu in the main restaurant to be very restrictive and monotonous. The menu options should vary every day or every other day. Also we did not get an option to have a cheese course on the menu which we found odd.

The classic feel in step with it's age

We loved our suite with a wonderful terrace. The gardens and grounds were really beautiful. The public areas were stunning and relaxing. Really elegant. The hotel staff were lovely and reception in particular were warm and helpful.

The hot breakfast food wasn't very nice as it was held in heated trays but was very look warm which spoiled the flavour. The continental breakfast was better.

Very attentive staff - nothing too much trouble. Luxurious decor and furnishings throughout. Comfortable seating areas. Calm, restful.. Lovely south/ west / sea / Gibraltar view from our small terrace.

I wanted to extend my stay, but the staff didn't have the authority to extend with the same price. They wanted me to wait until the next day, which I didn't.

It was the perfect hotel for our golf trip.

Big territory. Not far from the sea.

Dirty carpet and walls in some places. It is not acceptable for 5 stars hotel.

Liked the rooms on 2 floors so could watch TV and allow other person to sleep/rest. Interior design and layout, and fresh flowers gave a feeling of luxury and the care taken to provide pleasant environment

When we came to reception, my husband had forgotten his passport, though I had mine. He was told he couldn't register, even though he offered his driving licence.He was told he couldn't use his driving licence for identification, and the manner of the man at reception was brusque and unhelpful. We thought we wouldn't be able to stay, even though my daughter and her husband were already booked in. So, I went back to reception and saw the concierge, a much pleasanter and more helpful man, who allowed my partner to register using his driving licence. This saved a 4 hour round trip to recover the passport from our house in Ronda

The staff were excellent. The breakfast was very good. The room was very good and clean sheets and towels every day.

Location. You need a car or take taxis everywhere.

The service was awful.... there are only very few people working at the reception, sometimes only one.... your call from the room to the reception, was hardly answered... one had to in fact go down to the receptionist directly to gain their attention.

suberb service and five star grand luxe surroundings. terrific beach club cabana and gourmet buffet lobster, kangoustines, fillet steak, veal etc for one all in price

a very small thing...but it was irritating. the sun chairs around the hotel pool have mattresses which are not secured to the top by a strap or velcro tape. the result - they slip down all day long when the back is raised!

Just about everything, the staff were wonderful, very friendly,helpful, and so professional. The gardens were of a very high standard and well maintained. The pool area was well looked after. Location was good for us as it was 35 mins from Malaga airport.

That we had to leave it to go home.

Very attractive location and well designed hotel with beautiful grounds, friendly staff, with an amazing buffet breakfast, and very relaxing ambience. Very good service, and everywhere spotlessly gleaming and clean!

The swimming pool was an excellent size but could do with being heated. It was very cold! As the hotel is so far from any shops it could do with having a shop on site selling newspapers, books, cards, sweets, cigarettes etc.

The room was fine, although 2 flights of stairs for anyone with walking difficulties might be a problem, the gardens and pool are delightful. Reception polite and welcoming, porter and maid service were excellent.

Bar waiters and supervisory staff at breakfast are not well trained and senior management should be aware and taking steps to improve. Waiting in line for a breakfast table when there are many, many empty ones in view is not a good start to the day. Supervisors giving peremptory orders in loud voices to waiters while standing by your table when you are having breakfast is unnecessary. Telling a client that they are wrong about a wine or a food item is not the best service - particularly if you are right! Overall disappointing as our previous stay had been so pleasant.

The gardens and the Pool

The tables close to the swimming pool outside the bar were a parfect place for a pre dinner drink.

Nothing to complain about

Quirky stairs splitting the hotel room into a living room and a upstairs bedroom department, gives it a bit of character. Beds: two singles make one. Balcony: stunning views of the sea but uncomfortable chairs.. Breakfast: nice range of mediteranean and cooked choices good quality of fresh produce. Clientele is well behaved, from all corners of Euope/America, tendency towards octogenarians. Nevertheless the beach is great ideal for long walks.

Wifi: too slow if lucky enough to find a corner with reception. Bar: tends to be empty, lacking motivation regarding offers and staff. Area of Monteros is a bit dull, don't expect any bars/shops there

Could never get through to room service directly on the telephone. Always had to re-dial to reception.
