“The hotel staff was extremely helpful - not only we got a bigger room because we were travelling with our 1 1/2 y old, but also they also helped us with baby food and milk preparation and warming.”

You can't beat the location. Across the street from the Prado and in walking distance to all major landmarks of Madrid. The staff was cold and not very friendly. The cafeteria below had excellent coffee in the morning but a cup of soup cost $8.00!!

The hotel staff was extremely helpful - not only we got a bigger room because we were travelling with our 1 1/2 y old, but also they also helped us with baby food and milk preparation and warming. The overall quality of the room is the one of a 3 stars hotel, the view towards the Botanical Gardens and Museo del Prado is simply remarcable, the services are really great. You can enjoy a good breakfast, dinner or supper in their restaurant for a really good price (usually is really crowded).

The hotel was recommended by friends and was the lowest rated hotel (booking scores) we stayed at. I was pleased as in fact it was well situated for the Prado - across street and for our plans on this trip. Clean and comfortable. Their hotel restaurant served a good solid scrambled egg breakfast. It has a vague musty smell that while not overwhelming, is present. We noticed it on entering the room but once in, you no longer sensed it. On the other hand, the price was much less than others we stayed at.

We selected Hotel Mora five years ago and returned a second time during May 2012. We found their facilities have been upgraded; bathrooms modernized, comfortable beds. The coffee shop is convenient and well staffed, front desk and maid service people helpful. Excellent restaurants and tapas bars are close; public transportation also convenient. Three world class art museums are within easy walking distance. A great value. Wi-Fi access can be confusing; hopefully it will be simplified.

My first night was really good and the restaurant connected to the hotel is the best. The waiters are fabulous and the food is delectable as well as the ambiance. However I changed my reservation from another hotel to return to Hotel Mora because the location is directly across the street from the Prado and the Prado Gardens and diagonal from the Atoche Renfe: the train station. The seond night the desk clerk put us in an awful room with a tiny bathroom and sloping floor which was not our reserved room. We got there after midnight and were not in a position to ask for a change after he took 25 minutes to figure out what room to give us. A big bomb. But love the location, Guillermo and the restaurant.

It was very quiet. The room had no outside ventilation, just windows that were on an inner stairwell that was not ventilated.

It's location was excellent, opposite the Botanic Gardens and Retiro Park, plus 2 minutes from central Madrid. Staff were friendly and there is a cafe/bar below which is ideal for a breakfast/beer in the evening. It also has friendly staff and, as a solo female, wasn't full of people starring at you, which can happen when travelling alone in spain as a woman (in my opinion). The room given that I had one direclty above the Paseo de Prado was sooooo quiet (except the neighbours leaving at 7am the ffollowing morning). I was surprised it was so quiet. The room however was very small, but as you arent really in there for very long it doesnt matter too much.

The location is brillant within walking distance of Atocha train station . It is opposite the botanic gardens and Prada Museum and within easy walk to the Gran Via for shopping & touristic sights Soundproofed so you dont hear the busy road outside Otherwise standard room that is well kept & clean Only fault in our room was a dreadful smell in the bathroom possibly from the drainage system

My main purpose was to visit the three main museums ( Prado, Thyssen Bornemizsa, Reina Sofia ) which were at walking distance. The shuttle bus leaves every 15 minutes from Atoche Renfe which is only ten minutes from the hotel. The Atocha metro station is five minutes from the hotel. My double room ( for one person ) was small but clean and the bathroom was newly renovated. The hotel has a restaurant where you can have breakfast and meals at a reasonable price. The Internet functioned perfectly. If I go back to Madrid, I'll surely book again in this hotel.

The hotel was clean, functional and very conveniently located to museums and train station. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was very small with limited amenities and a very firm bed. However, it was clean. The most negative thing was the lack of insulation in the walls. Through the night as each guest arrived back at the hotel it sounded like they were coming into our room. Even with the drawbacks, I feel it is a reasonal value for the money. Bring your own wash cloths, bath and shampoo products.

Perfect location for seeing madrid. Very close to main ATOCHA rail station with its efficient bus link to airport. Very comfortable room. Excellent that they could hold luggage after checkout for a few hours. The attached but separately run restaurant was very friendly indeed. Great for breakfast and evening meal. Very kind staff at restaurant. Reasonable hotel price for central madrid. Would definitely recommend. Although the daytime reception young woman was very welcoming and helpful, the evening staff were very matter of fact and not as welcomng. For a new visitor it would have been more reassuring to have very welcoming staff when checking in. This hotel as with others in spain seems not to provide a kettle or means of making tea/coffee in the room.

Staff were very helpful when we requested a change of room as we were given one with windows that opened into an internal stairwell. They change it for one with two windows/balconies that overlooked the park.

Very good sized rooms, clean. Towels replaced daily. Handy attached bar/restaurant for breakfast etc. Despite being on a main road the rooms were quiet and the hotel was only 10 min from the centre and close to the Retiro gardens.

Great location. I was worried after reading the online reviews. Here's what I found: Many reviews complained about a foul smell in their room. I detected a foul smell in the hallway, but our room (a triple - room 406) was fine. I also read about unfriendly staff. I found this generally to be true, but it didn't detract from our stay. The beds were not particularly comfortable, but overall the room was "good enough" for our brief, one-night stay. Difficulty connecting to the WiFi. My bed was bad for my back.
