Score from 240 reviews Good
Overlooking La Concha Bay, this grand 19th-century building is set next to the beach, on San Sebastián’s seafront promenade.
Score from 1478 reviews Excellent
This designer hotel has a gym and a seasonal outdoor pool. Barceló Costa Vasca is just over a quarter mile from San Sebastián’s Ondarreta Beach, next to Miramar Palace and Gardens.

Offering panoramic sea views, the Sercotel Codina is just 270 yards from Ondarreta Beach. This hotel offers free Wi-Fi, and modern rooms with a minibar, flat-screen TV and private bathroom.
Score from 904 reviews Very good
Room very comfortable, quiet (but the noises from other rooms propagate easily). Bus stop not far, ca 150 m, but to reach the hotel we need to climb the hill in darkness.
The front desk closes after 11 pm and the room,s key is kept at the hotel!?!? The way to bus stop could easily illuminated with lamps with solar cells
We originally booked one night as we were touring, so impressed we returned on our way back to France. Out of town hotel, good 1/2 hourly bus service to the centre, we chose to take a taxi late at night, cost about 12 euros. Rooms spacious and comfortable.
On second visit the Wi-fi was unreliable, kept dropping out, probably not hotels fault - Spanish telecoms!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was spotlessly clean. I was able to borrow a hairdryer.
I had a single room with a view of the car park. If you don't have a car you have to walk to the bus stop. It's OK going downhill to the stop in the morning but not so good going uphill in the dark!
everything is good! But internet is very slow slow and slow.
view from breakfast room over Atlantic, quietish sleep.
Poor reception, the clerk watched us schlepp our baggage in before telling us we were in another building. we were pointed vaguely at an annex up the road, very hard to work out where the entrance was, had to return twice to main hotel in the driving rain. Room facilities sparse for the price.
receptionists very helpful with information and friendly. nice breakfast. pet friendly grounds.
Quiet surroundings in the middle of nature. Goats, chickens, geese, turkeys in the farms nearby. Big rooms with a double bed with ample room. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Bus service to the center of the city less than a 5 minute walk. A couple of places nearby for a late night meal/drink, especially impressed with Buenavista.
Only thing I could say was negative was that the sound of the bathrooms from adjacent rooms were especially loud.
remote location. good for romance. price too high
Room was spacious and hotel is very isolated and quiet.
Very unfriendly receptionist when we arrived at 9.30 pm. Our little dog was charged 11 Euro although he slept in his own cage. The hotel looks shabby and old. Very dated and way too expensive at 100 Euro per night without breakfast. That did include the dog though. Finding the hotel in the dark with sat nav was a nightmare.
Free and wide car park, peacefull and green surrounding, helpfull personel
Less amenities (shampoo, etc.) in the room.
The location was gorgeous. People were friendly, Grounds were very well maintained and lush. Good views from parts of the property. I would like to try a better room next time.
The picture made it seem as though it was on the ocean but it is very far away from town and the ocean. The room I had faced the back and had a view of the parking lot and no breeze. WIFI was almost non existent in my area.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Location was relaxing, away from the noise of the town. Breakfast was nice and plentiful.
Coffe making facilities in the room would have been nice.
The stop from the bus stop is too dark
I liked the free parking at Hotel Nicol's , although we needed it only for 3 days. The staff in general were very helpful. Quite frankly the only reason we picked this hotel was for the free parking. This hotel is way over-priced for what they offer.
From the photos on the website it looks as if the hotel is not far from the beach whereas in fact it is quite a way up the 'mountain' (call it a hill). Catching the No 16 bus into town and home again late at night was a pain, especially as the hill up to the hotel was in pitch darkness because it was a private road. Also, the people who owned the little farm we looked out on from our balcony had a dog tied up all the time which was really distressing.
The building and grounds are absolutely amazing, very beautiful. The rooms are a little dated but beds very comfortable, I slept like a baby. The staff were brilliant, very accommodating when I arrived at 1am and needed coffee so badly, but not some sachet of Nescafé but a real coffee from a real coffee machine after 20 hours solid of driving. It was no bother for the reception guy, he just opened the bar for me and sorted it. With service like this the hotel needs another star rating.
There is no lift so I was glad not to have heavy cases. The breakfast was continental and I fancied something more substantial that day, but that's what cafe bars were invented for.
Beautiful view. Bus access to city. Quite at night because you are out of the city. Hotel grounds is also nice.
Too far from the city. Nothing to eat in the area... must go to city.
smoking neighbours in their balconies
Great location, easy to find and easy to reach the city. Park on mount Igeldo and take the cable car down but ! cable car service stops at 8pm. Very friendly staff, very calm and nice neighbourhood. Free computer at the reception.
Good basic value for money room, excellent shower & Sergio couldn't do enough, free parking & short walk to bus 16 (1.65€ ) e/w to city
No air con
staff is pretty nice
facility is old
No kettle for tea or coffee was provided
Location slightly outside bustle of San Sebastián Pretty grounds Helpful host
Would like to have had an armchair or two in the room. Ok but very basic.
No restaurant facilities available and we were not aware of this when we booked.
wall very thin (noisy) poor wifi signal
stunning views over sea clean, comfortable, large bedroom friendly receptionist - spoke v good English gardens very well kept and looked as though they would be lovely in the summer with plenty of seating area and play equipment good spot if you want a break away from it all
difficult to locate 1 person on duty trying to do different jobs nowhere cosy to sit very bad value compared to many other hotels we've stayed in shown on map as being very near the sea but didn't mention hotel was several miles up a hill, so actually nowhere near the sea or town price was quoted as breakfast included but we had to pay for each item individually very poor breakfast choice bar was closed as out of season so no drinks available anywhere in hotel no evening meal for same reason all outdoor cushions packed away having motored 8hrs to reach this hotel this was not good news - all hotels we tried on way down to the town had also stopped doing meals even the ones that the receptionist/breakfast waiter had recommended would have been very disappointed if we had booked for longer - they either need to close completely in October or provide adequate facilities
