Hotel Hoyuela    

Excellent service and great location. The staff at reception were very helpful (the people of Santander in general are so genuinely nice and friendly). Hotel is very close to beach and not far from town centre.

The Hoyuela is well positioned within Santander, only a short walk to the beach and casino. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to suit all budgets. Good garage parking and helpful reception staff.

Rooms are a little dated, but adequate with the small suites having sufficient room. The restaurant wasn't open on the day we stayed but the Snack Bar was, however, the staff were not friendly and everything seemed to be too much for them to be bothered. Basically, a total lack of service ethic. How the Hotel Group can describe this hotel as one of their "Excellence" places is quite frankly a joke.

The hotel was excellent value as we stayed in January and it was off-peak. The hotel was beside beautiful beaches and walkways. It was very near to the Palacio Magdalena and walking distance to the town centre. The rooms were clean and comfortable and very well stocked with every toiletry imaginable. One member of staff in particular, Mar, stood out as being very helpful and helped us organise a bus trip to a neighbouring town.

We had one rainy day as expected in the North of Spain. In Santander your enjoyement is dependent on the weather. We would have been happy to spend the day in our lovely hotel room but the wifi connection was not great and it wasn´t possible to change the audio on the television as it is in Madrid. It wasn´t a huge problem though. The hotel provided us with umbrellas and we just got on with it in the rain.

It suited our purposes as we were en-route to the Ferry Port. It was very convenient, easy to find, good value for money, with parking options.

Je veux vous indiquer ce que je n'ai pas aimé ! Impossible to get anything other than a sandwich to eat before 8.30 p.m. ( 20.30 ) The restaurant did not open for dinner until that time.When one has been trevelling for hours something hot is needed.There was a hot snack menu in the bedroom but none of this was available. Fortunately your sister hotel the Gran opposite had the same snack memu & were pleased to serve it to us with a smile.at 7.30; No one in the snack bar could speak a word of English or French which is amazing in an internaational hotel.

see above , I would add that with the Brittany- Ferries boats arriving twice a week there woul be a market for English guests travelling as we were.

This is a very well situated hotel in a nice part of Santander. The room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was excellent. The mini bar seemed to be quite well stocked. The room was quiet at night. The Bar was nice with attentive staff and not too expensive. The Hotel is only a short taxi ride from the centre of Santander and is across the road from the beautiful beach and promenade. The Casino is next door and some small cafes are within walking distance. You have to go into town to find the better restaurants.

The Reception staff were a bit unfriendly even though one of us spoke Spanish. They hardly looked up when you went in and out. Luckily the weather was quite good during our stay even though it was winter, because there is noting to do in the Hotel in the rain.

We booked the hotel as convenient for our ferry crossing. We wanted secure parking as our car was loaded with luggage. We had a junior suite. Everything was excellent, wide choice at breakfast, excellent parking, good location with a sea view and beautiful architecture in a wooded setting but a few minutes from the centre and ferry. Restaurants within walking distance. Suite has 2 TVs, free wifi and and excellently stocked bathroom. Staff very efficient and speedy in every service.

Not very much I'm afraid...the car park was secure and the breakfast was ok...

staff were generally austere and sometimes rude....the beds were uncomfortable and the pillows like rocks...noise insulatiuon needs looking at....

Wonderful hotel. Excellent location with lovely views. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. An absolute must if you are staying in Santander

Without doubt, next to the casino and just about overlokking the sea this is a very well located hotel.

The smell in the room, a must non aired stale smell, ineffective and noisy air conditioning, the lack of a welcome when you walked through the rather ungrand reception area and finally the odd bar.

Hotel staff were all very helpful although knowledge of English was more the exception than the rule. Breakfast was well worth the 14 Euros; proximity to the beach, cafés, restaurants a definite plus; it's a bus ride to town but they are frequent & the system is easy to understand - even if you speak hardly any Spanish. So impressed with Santander & hotel! We're already saving for our next visit!

Drove off the overnight ferry from Portsmouth, 5 minutes to the hotel. Parked, bags were taken, spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Had dinner down the road as it was quiet in the hotel. Checked out and on the road by 8am. Perfect over-nighter and would stay here again anytime. Exactly what I wanted it to be.

Best location--beach, parks, restaurants, easy access to downtown, airport, highways. Great bathroom. Parking garage with easy in/out & elevator to room.

Poor confort (old beds), loud (we hear everything from the other rooms, staff clean the corridors at 07 am...smells of canalization in the bathroom... 2 stars....no more

The suite of rooms was excellent, and the array of bathroom ancillaries was first rate too, the bed in this room was comfortable and many facilities inc mini bar, also secure car parking .

The greeting when first arriving was poor from a gentleman behind the reception when I pulled him up about his attitude, his excuse was (sorry I'm new) Clearly judged a book by its cover as I turned up in shorts and a T shirt. The Bar man in the bar" was unfriendly and unhelpful , even though i tried to make a conversation, even the duty manager conversed with his spanish guests and totally ignored the english. I ordered dinner waited 45 min's and walked out and had dinner locally at another bar. The breakfast was fine with a reasonable choice" Would I recommend this hotel unfortunately not, especially if your looking for customer service.

Spendid location with excellent facilities. Helpful and friendly people in the reception on arrival and for the entire stay. Good value and quality of food etc in the restaurant, But staff there could benefit from some tuition from the receptionists as their bored appearance was equally boring

Friendly English speaking staff, excellent location next to the casino and across the street from the beach. Clean room. Plenty of space in the shower. Comfy bed. Pretty quiet. Good value for the money. Didn't use the breakfast facilities - there are some nice places for food just outside, between the hotel and the beach. Asked for a cot and had it delivered to our room within minutes.

Not the most modern room or hotel, but we liked it. No balcony. Sea view would have been nice, but we didn't ask for it so our mistake.

Relación calidad precio, amabilidad del personal, ubicación excelente, es un hotel a recomendar, sin duda es mi hotel en Santander.

La ubicación era excelente,a 50 metros del mar,se veía la 2º Playa del Sardinero desde la ventana.

Se veía el mar entre el Casino de Santander y el Gran Hotel el Sardinero ambos en primera linea de playa desde una ventana de 175€ la noche en régimen de alojamiento sin mas comodidades que una tv plana,un baño normal y eso si,una cama bastante grande.

La ubicacion del hotel y vistas desde la ventana de la habitacion a la playa del sardinero.

Las almohadas de la cama son muy bajas y no tiene carta de almoahadas para los diferentes gustos de los clientes. El precio del desayuno es carisimo, para lo que ofrecen.
