The rooms were clean and had proper toiletries. WiFi. This was a rest stop to break up the journey so we would only rEcommend it for that purpose. There is no proper place for food and notHing to do. The TV had no English channels. .

The palace was pretty pretty with the new mixed in the old nicely. A couple of minor issues. One was the lack of WiFi in the rooms and the other was the breakfast menu or the lack of selection. However upon speaking with management it was discovered that they were in the middle of a catering change...

We were traveling from Malaga to Madrid and wanted to have a stop in between after about 300 km drive. So we surged a location close to the highway just to do a stopover. The hotel was easy to find using a gps. The hotel is a former Castle and beautiful renovated. The room we had was simple. Could had have a little more furniture. There was only one chair for 3 people no table, it had some desk. The shower and bath was clean but had no glass doors so the floor became totally wet. The spa was nice with a lot of possibilities. We had some good time with out little one in the warm inside swimming pool. Although officially children are not allowed in the pool it was permitted in our case. Maybe because there were not so many people in the hotel using the spa at that moment. There was a cafeteria in the hotel with nice staff. The restaurant was closed. They told us that they were in between management and new owners and therefore the menu was not complete and the choice very limited. We choose some thinks anyhow. The quality of the food was very poor but brought to us with a smile. In the village were no alternative restaurants. So this was it. The next morning, just before wanted to leave we found a nice looking bar with plenty possibilities to sit on sofas close to a fireplace. This was not open during the night before.

Very attractive old building and high standard of rooms. Hidden charge to use the Spa as they wanted you to buy a hair net and flip flops for 6 Euro each. I'm bald so that's a bit daft anyway. Was a stop over between Granada and Cordoba but to be honest was a bit in the middle of nowhere.

Splendous building whose restauration respects the original medieval structure. We had a beautiful, spacy room with balcony and view to the patio. Different possibilities to eat and drink within the same hotel, or in pubs in the small village.Close to motorway, excellent for a stopover. Very kind staff. Cordoba, Granada, Baeza and Ubeda at reach within 1 h - 1h 30 by car. We will definitively return. Thanks to "booking.com" we only paid 60 instead of 190 Euro for our room. If you like olive oil, buy some in the "cooperativas" in the city, the quality is excellent. We booked the spa at 10 in the morning but the sauna was not yet working so we could not use it. Would have appreciated if staffturned it on earlier. Pool water slightly to cold with 28 c, fo a spa. Some of the glas doors of the pool did not close properly, so there was a heavy air draught. Using iron decorations and door frames suits well in the rest of the building but not in teh sap , since they rust with the humidity. One hour spa was included in the booking, but normal price of 30 Euro is absolutely exaggerated.

Wonderful relaxing hotel refurbished to a very high standard. All of the staff was very helpful and made us welcome. We used this hotel as a stop over after treking around Granada and Seville for several days site seeing so this was a welcome relaxing break. Comes highly recommended for a short break.

The Paliacio was a beautiful old building in the centre of the town.Friendly and helpful staff.Room was comfortable and as described.The free use of sauna;jaccuzzi and thermal bath was welcome after sightseeing. Quality of food excellent. There was no view from our room apart from a patch of sky-dissapointing as the room was excellent. We had read previous comments about the restaurant being closed during the week so booked Sunday night-only to be told that the restaurant was also closed Sunday! We ended up eating top quality food in a bare,soulless cafeteria-considering the rest of the surroundings in the hotel it was VERY dissapointing.As there are hardly any other places to eat we had no choice but to eat there. The town has nothing but the hotel and square

The Palacio de Mengibar was a great bargain in terms of the quality of the rooms and of the spa. It is a convenient stopover point on a trip through Andalucia. -Mengibar, the little town in which the hotel is located, has nothing to offer in terms of sites or gastronomic experience. The hotel dining room seemed overpriced. (We ate at a nearby cafe recommended by a pensioner in the main square). The spa requires a certain kind of swimming cap. Buying one on the spot proved expensive. Only the foreigners seemed to have been required to buy one. You can take a bus excursion to the major sites in the area (Jaen, Baeza and Ubeda) on on certain days of the week and at certain times.

Lovely airy, spacious rooms with terrace. Beautiful hotel with lots of hidden corners to explore and relax in. Great to have use of spa(1 hour pp) with the room. I've stayed 3 times. There are some issues, the bar is not very good and out of season, or particular days, it is the only place to eat. The last time I stayed I ordered room service and ate on terrace - much better option. Also, there can be a smell in the bathroom, they need to sort out the plumbing! I had to change rooms. It happened twice. I think it's only in certain rooms (110 & 210). Make sure to ask for an alternative room if this happens, as they are used to it I imagine. Don't let this turn you off hotel, as it is beautiful and v comfortable.

Beautifully refurbished to a high standard with very comfortable room and excellent bathroom. Really disappointed that the restaurant was only open at weekends and this is throughout the year. We were offered the same menu for evening dinner but would have had to eat in the cafeteria which had a tv on with a football match being watched by the locals. We opted for room service but the food was cold when it arrived from the kitchen some distance away. This spooky the experience as eating is part of the whole package of staying in such a lovely place.

Grand old building with great amenities. The rooms were much better that those in more expensive period hotels. It is a great place to relax and maybe walk around the city center. The hotel is very well kept and free parking and one hour spa was included with the rate. We used it as a midway stopping point between Malaga and Madrid.

Nice building, thats all!!! Mengibar is a terrible town!!! I wouldnt like even to be buried in that desert town! Hotel personal doesnt speak English at all, nobody , not even one word!!!many rooms are aginst a big wall, no view at all !Breakfast ....? only at the weekend .its more like a continental breakfast ! "the kitchen is close..."but nobody knows about it!The Spa????forget it , nothing special! Be aware , you can stay at the spa only 1 hour! And they always charge for extras!!!! The stuff is not friendly!For that fare, you can get much better hotels! At the yard is an eagle that is tied to a wire the whole day, every day. Poor bird! It hurts to sea it!but , probably the stuff thinks its nice!you dont get the right information on the internet! Only nice pictures!

This is a beautiful ancient castle/fortress that has been converted into a spectacular luxury hotel. It also has a very nice spa and the massage I got from Rachel was one of the best I have ever enjoyed. We also very much enjoyed spending some time at the bar and being served by Norma, who was very professional and helpful. The hotel staff speaks very little English (except Norma) and the tv only carries Spanish-language channels -- not what you would expect in a 4-star hotel. The hotel is located in a very small village and the only restaurant easily available is in the hotel but is only open on weekends. The small bar/cafeteria is open all of the time but only has a very limited menu. One final comment concerns the lack of an elevator from the parking garage to the lobby. We had very heavy luggage and it was difficult carrying it up the narrow staircase. No help with the luggage was offered by the hotel staff.
