Palacio Urgoiti    

M'han fet sentir com a casa. Gent treballadora i molt amable. Sense cap mena de dubte quan tornem a Euskal Herria, tornarem al Palacio Urgoiti.

Service was excellent and friendly - rooms were large and spacious and beautifully decorated. Felt like castle living. Food was very good, although we opnlt ate breakfast and small plates

Water temp in shower was hot-to cold, made for scalding to icy adventure- for a hotel with absolutely everything else going for it, seems they should be able to regulate water temperatures as well

Lovely hotel, convenient for Bilbao if using the ferry. Excellent room and bathroom, very nice, helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast both excellent and good value. Good hotel facilities - didn't use the pool or gym, only a short stay over for the early ferry back to the UK. Would use this hotel again.

This a very stylish, comfortable and spacious hotel with good quality beds and large bedrooms.Set in open countryside with acres of parking. The staff were very helpfull and friendly especially in the restaurant. The food was excellent with a wide selection of Spanish wines. The hotel is 6 minutes drive to and overlooks the airport, but without any aircraft noise. Very easy drive to Bilbao centre and the ferry port. Highly recommended.

The shower in the bathroom was broken and I think I remember this reported in a previous write up.

Quiet surroundings, historic building, nice indoor pool

Close to airport. Ideally situated for exploring the Basque coast. Large rooms. Good breakfast.

Stayed here 4 years ago - standards have slipped.

Was a great place to catch our breath on a 2-week trip but still be able to see area sites. Great staff. Very relaxing. Lovely dining.

I had a nice spacious room, though I got the delux room with balcony I didn't get what I saw from the web site picture, but non-theless, it was still a nice room. The location and proximity to the air port of Bilbao was great and yet it was perfectly in the Basque country-side close to both the mountains and the sea. Good staff and friendly, accomodating. Beautiful location and landscape all around, especially with the small and intimate par 3 golf course as the garden!

Though it presented itself as a luxury hotel in the website, in reality the hotel (at least the Palacio) is a bit off from the fact that its pass its luxury days. The furnishing are a poor copy and the impression of luxury is false. The golf was a bonus for me, but the reality here was a little disappointing, one could see it luxury and beauty has faded, the driving range facility and the (beautifully laid out, postage stamp size greens in the pine forest) is beyond its prime. But mainly because there is no interests (perhaps) or investment put into keeping it up to its potential! If properly tended to and cared for (invest) this could easily move from the 4 star it has to a 5 star super luxury boutique destiny for honeymooners and gastronomic travelers of the Basque country. PS. I didn't swim but here again the pool was disappointingly smaller that one would expect it to be for the luxurious hotel it was selling itself to be!

Close to Bilbao but still out in the countryside with good views of the mountains in the distance. Very peaceful location.

The hotel restaurant was closed. I was told that they only open the hotel in the holiday season. We were staying there in Mid July !! If that is not the holiday season I do not know what is! As this hotel is fairly remote it is important that the hotel restaurant is open for guests.

All round excellence, huge rooms and beautiful setting.

very nice location close to Bilbao. Some staff members had a hard time speaking English but were very friendly overall. Nice swimming pool, unfortunately the restaurant was closed. Large and clean rooms.

We only stayed for one night after driving from Southern Spain and taking the return ferry from Bilbao to the uk the following day. The hotel was out of town (a car is a must) in a quiet and pretty location. The hotel was clean and very welcoming. The pool is not a huge one, but as it wasn't busy this wasn't a problem. As we didn't use the golf facilities I'm unable to comment.

We booked dinner in the bistro, however it was merely dining room tables and chairs with cutlery next to the cafeteria which had wicker chairs and cheaper tables. From what I could see the menu was the same and was a bit limited and pricey for the food that was served.

Pleasant peaceful surrounds with fantastic country and mountains views. Good location for touring Basque region and only 35 minutes from Ferry Terminal. Would definitely stay at this hotel again. Main restaurant was closed in the evenings we were there but the Bistro opened around 8pm for meals but open all day for drinks and snacks.

Nothing to dislike

A beautiful country location. Views and nature, especially birds all around. Very nice room with large, comfortable bed and a quality bathroom. The main building is a reconstruction using some original stonework from an old Palacio. Roof trusses are actually ornately carved.

Balcony room overlooked the terrace where guests gathered for "tea" and afternoon drinks. Sometimes quite noisy from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.

Ruime mooie kamers met mooi uitzicht, lekker eten (wij aten in de bistro), goede faciliteiten, prima locatie t.o.v. vliegveld Bilbao (vijf minuten).

Tout nickel sauf la douche dont le joint de porte n était pas étanche la piscine un peu fraîche . Le snack du bar et l environnement super et délicieux . Accès à Bilbao très rapide

la simplicité du personnel et des autres clients et la cuisine même en formule bistrot, bonne ambiance, joli cadre.bonne insonorisation, chambres spacieuses.

pas de frigo-bar dans les chambres, restaurant fermé le soir, devons nous contenter du bistrot qui est très correct cependant.
