Set in a former convent, dating from the 18th century, the Parador de Mérida provides attractive accommodation. It is within 10 minutes' walk of Mérida's main attractions. Parador de Mérida boasts a pleasant, traditional-style inner courtyard and beautiful gardens, where you can relax and read a book and keep cool in the midday sun. Dine in the on-site restaurant with family or friends, where you can enjoy local-style cuisine, without leaving the hotel. There is a gym in the Mérida, where you can do some exercise. Then you can take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, or simply lie back in the sun on one of the sun loungers. Staff were excellent, good parking though at a price. Good location, quaint and quirky. Rooms are quite small, bit noisy as our room overlooked the courtyard.

The staff was very good and responsive.. The hotel is very well located inside Merida, yet easy to find from the highway. We were able to take day trips to the Roman dam and the Dolman. The hotel is very historic. Be careful as you load your luggage. A staff ran over our bags and no one seemed to care. He entered the parking area driving very fast and it was very unsafe.

Good central location close to all cultural areas. Restaurant needs to open before 8-30pm for weary travellers requiring a meal! Poor choice of wine by the glass available - good house wine should be on the wine list.

The building had a very soothing ambiance. The decor and tiling fitted in extremely well with the building and its previous use.

It was a great experience! The employees are very careful and nice, the rooms are a great experience and in all places you can find great spots, besides the millenar articles found during the construction of the parking. Great place to stay, with impecable breakfast, great parking and nice people. Mine room was the last in the corridor and I couldn´t access the wifi from there, but considering the great spots they had it was great to find some place to access it! I recommend this hotel.

comfortable, relaxed, free wi-fi in bedroom, decent breakfast. Location means that we could walk out onto traffic free old streets to the fabulous Roman antiquities. Convenient underground parking

The parador is a national treasure, very good ambience, service, a lovely large room, a good restaurant. It was a highlight of our trip. I was surprised that there were no Spaniards at the parador, only English-speaking tourists. Too bad. The Spanish should support these historical wonders.

Very nice Parador at a reasonable rate. The proximity to the Roman ruins and shopping was terrific. The restaurant is also very nice. Beds were a little hard.

Beautiful old building, lots if character in communal areas. Only 7 double rooms available in the whole hotel so even though we requested one when booking we got a twin.

Location in the town centre and historic parts to the buildings. The pool was relaxing as well in the intense heat. It was a little tired in parts - the fountain leading into the pool needs renovation and the air conditioning could be quieter.

The reception staff were friendly and efficient. But the whole place has a tiredness about it -- everything works, but it's all a bit of a bother. You won't know this until you have tried it, but leave most of your luggage in your car when checking in: it's a long way to reception and then you might find you have to drag your belongings to a room immediately above the garage and its elevator. (To be fair, the gate guard advised us to check in first, but I'm not sure he speaks languages other than Spanish). The dining experience was an absolute let-down. Parador hotels have a reputation for emphasising local cuisine and good service. Our experience was that the waiting staff could not care less: they offered no advice on dishes or accompanying wines unless prompted by questions, and they were either suffering from the heat of the day, or were too disinterested in clearing away plates and offering subsequent courses to be bothered to attend the tables. Spending two hours over dinner is a bit much when most of that time is spent waiting for a server.
