Enjoy a historic setting and magnificent views from this 10th century castle, carefully restored as a luxury hotel but still retaining much of its original charm. The Parador de Tortosa’s setting in the Beceite Mountains offers views of the green Ebro Valley and the ancient city of Tortosa. It was originally built by the Moorish King Abderramán III, but over the centuries has been updated in a Gothic style. The interior is traditionally Christian, with vaulted ceilings, wood beams and antique-style, wooden furniture. Take in the stunning views from the spacious sun terrace or the outdoor swimming pool. You can then try some of the typical Catalan cuisine served in the hotel restaurant – a charming venue with exquisite stained-glass windows. Hotel Rooms: 72 The most recent booking for this hotel was made on May 19 at 11:40 from Russia.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The restored castle and grounds offered beautiful views over the River Ebro and Tortosa. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet; staff very friendly. We had a decent view and cooling breezes from our balcony. Tortosa was surprisingly lively with a festival in town and a small, interesting new museum.

comfortable beds location castle The special dinner on St. Valentine's Day was really poor. Tasteless and overcooked. Lacking in balance, i.e. heavy dessert.

Spectacular approach to this historic building. Dinner was very good indeed, breakfast varied and good. Rooms good size with balconies. Off hand service from some, but not all, staff. Reception rather unwelcoming; bill for dinner brought to the table with the dessert. Lacked that extra touch that would have made the experience feel special. The bar had a television on quite loudly, and was the main guest sitting room. The rooms are in need of some updating. There were broken tiles in our bathroom, not what I would have expected from a parador.

Staff were all unfailingly courteous, polite and helpful - from desk clerks to cleaners. The room was large, comfortable and well-appointed; food and drink was excellent; service impeccable. The hotel has a stunning location on the top of the hill with views across the town and the Ebro River. It was handy for bird-watching trips we had planned in the nearby delta and mountains. We loved it all.

the preserved historic property is, as in so many cases, absolutely amazing. the resaurant was also similarly nice, the food predictably good (though not cheap) and the breakfast(s), when these must be included (55 or older rate) are absolutely FABULOUS (not saying they're worth 21 Euro, just a grand thing to have part of an overall lovely experience. this was our first parador of 3 that we stayed at and it was a nice 'welcome home' (to Paradors) lots and LOTS of leaks after a very stormy night. lights were out twice (the second time we were about to take a nap before dinner, so don't know how long they were on generator before these were restored). do hope that they'll put some money in to the roof in order to continue to preserve these beautiful properties.

Everything was super inside the parador and the location is wonderful. The temperature in the huge dinning room was chilly. The small town of Tortosa is deteriorating.

Lovely building. Great views. My impression is because It's a popular hotel the staff don't try too hard to be friendly and helpful. They are very arrogant and have a take it or leave it attitude. The service in the restaurant was poor and the corridor to our room smelled of drains. The room was ok but very dark and gloomy. Not impressed with this Parador at all.

The Parador was full of character and history yet still provided all the luxury and class of a modern 4 star hotel. The views were terrific. A great base to explore the beauty of the surrounding area. Real Spain still exists! The swimming pool was more than just refreshing - it was freezing!

Location was wonderful up on the hill overlooking the Ebro River and the countryside. Interesting to stay in a castle with such a history, as well as Tortosa and learning about the past.

It was a great stay as we were on our way from Lacapelle-Biron, France, to Nerja, Spain The room, service and dinner/breakfast were excellent and it would be hard to improve on them. Well done to all the staff. Tim and Angie Eyre PS We particularly liked 30% mature discount

- the spacious, clean rooms/bathroom and comfortable beds - the friendly and professional staff - the view from the accommodation on the outskirts - the Parador itself is very nice, though "a copy of the original building" (castle), guests should however realise that there is hardly anything to visit from a more touristic point of view; the location is in that way quite isolated and very suitable for a couple of relaxing days, less for more active leisure activities - the atmosphere in the dining room was quite authentic from a decorative point of view and the waiters very friendly and correct. However, we found the prices of the dishes a bit high for what was offered.

I have stayed in a few Paradors in Spain and they have all been good, this one included. Good views as it is perched above the town, rooms are comfortable, good bathrooms and I think most have a balcony. Food in the Restaurant is good but not cheap. Breakfast is excellent. I used this hotel for business and will definitely stay there again if I need to.

The location/grounds (the castle) The food. The menu was really short, with few options, the food wasn't good and it was very expensive. We eat there in the first day, then we went somewhere else.

Swimming pool was a relaxing addition. Staff was friendly, understood English. Only small portion of castle is original building. The accomodations are in newer annex, which are comfortable but nothing exciting. Eat in town - plenty of good restaurants for less money.
