Excellent accommodation within the city walls all within walking distance of restaurants etc The unfriendly attitude of the reception staff in particular a young woman who was very haughty. It had snowed quite heavily during the night so we asked if she knew anything about the weather forecast, she retorted "Cold!" - as if we hadn't noticed with 9 inches of snow on the car roof. She is in the wrong job.

Free parking, although there were limited and small parking spots available. The location against the Avila city wall was great. The hotel was easy accessible by car. Hotel staff was friendly and worked very efficient. Staff in the restaurant was unprofessional and appeared to be very bored. Our waiter could not advice us properly on the menu. Our room was too warm. The parador was not as nice and beautiful as other paradors we have visited.

We had planned to visit Avila on a previous trip. Unfortunately comments left by previous guests regarding the attitude of the staff put us off. On this trip we decided to test this for ourselves. From the moment we arrived the staff went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant starting with the member of staff who transported our luggage to our room ...... no mean feat as my wife does not travel light! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Avila and would happily visit there again.

I have stayed at this Parador before and like the location, atmosphere, and beauty of of the facility. This is not quite as elegant as other paradors, but given the location, it was fine.

Very good location just inside the city walls. There was a good buffet breakfast. On arrival the man on reception was rude, he did not welcome us, or even take his eyes off the computer whilst checking us in! He just barked "passports" at us. He spoke to us in bad English despite the fact that we speak good Spanish. The garage was very difficult to park in and was expensive at 14 euros a night. The room was ok but needed updating - not really good value for money, we have stayed in smarter 3 star hotels with much friendlier staff,

It's location just within the Wall making it easy to locate. Brilliant location within Avila - able to reach all by foot. Although it appeared busy the service was excellent be it in the bar/lounge or restaurant. Our room overlooked the garden and was very quiet. The standard of food in the restaurant both breakfast and dinner was very good and presented beautifully. The central courtyard/cloister wasn't particularly attractive. A shame really. The surrounding glass windows could have done with a clean. The area could have done with tidying. The main thoroughfare inside proved a little chilly hence we didn't make use of the seating area looking out onto the courtyard. In fact, the lounge/ bar/cafe area was quite draughty as they led off from the reception area. It did happen to be a particularly chilly, windy day!

The comfortable room was a good size and we had a lovely view of the gardens and the town wall. The bathroom was big and we liked that it had 2 sinks. Location was great for sightseeing and going out in the evening. The outdoor bar was really nice to sit in at sundown. There were a lot of steps/stairs and nobody offered us any help with our heavy suitcases. We managed, but someone elderly or infirm would find this difficult.

All aspects of the Parador de Avila were superb. It is located right in the heart of the walled town and there is some car parking available. Staff were polite and helpful at all times. An Internet computer was available near the reception (free use) and a free WiFi within the hotel. The hotel is a very well converted Palace decorated in a traditional style to a very high quality. Very large breakfast choice. Wonderful private garden bounded on one side by the town walls. Highly recommended for £80 per night!

The location beside the city walls, the helpful and pleasant staff and value for money . The Parador restaurants continue to produce elaborate over - priced meals that leave the dining rooms empty. In Spain, every restaurant is obliged to have a set menu del dia at an affordable price for all. Consequently, hotel guests use the local restaurants!

Accommodating, efficient, professional staff at the front desk. Clean, quite room, comfortable beds. Loved the shower/bathroom, great water pressue/hot water;nothing exotic but everything was there. Great location. Breakfast buffet was good; well balanced food selection. Easy walking into the main city square. If coming into the city by train, short taxi ride to the hotel, for the fitter travellers, could walk to the hotel. I was not impressed with an evening dinner that we had at the hotel. My entre, I beieve it was suckling roast pig was extremely dry, my brothers dish, some sort of a steak, had good flavour but was as tough as a boot, and impossible to chew. The veal was good as was a vegetarian chili/atrichoke dish my daughter had. Other family members had some sort of ravioli dish that was was also pretty good.

The location of the hotel was right inside the gate and very convenient to the historic part of town. The parking garage was expensive, but we were able to find free parking nearby, so we just parked the car and walked in the town. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable. At 70 euros, it was a great hotel for the price. Nice outdoor seating for a drink and tapas too. Staff was very helpful.

The Parador was centrally located in the historic area making it easy to walk around and see the sights. The rooms were a bit small compared with some other paradors we have stayed at.

The Parador is very nice, luxurious and quiet. Room was large, quiet and very well appointed. At 80 Euros on booking.com, it was a bargain for a Parador. It is located just inside the city gate and a bus runs up to the gate, about 250 meters from the hotel, but you would have to know where it is. Also, the minibus that runs there (there is also a regular bus, 1 I think) but it passed us by waiting at the stop near the train station. You are better taking a cab, it is more than 5 Euros, they are cheating you. Always get a cabbies number to complain, even if you find out later he gyped you. But the stay was nice. The staff could speak English well, but seemed a little bit official. Do not expect to print out anything here. You have to email it to them and they print it out and I never could get it to work. It is a bit ridiculous they let you use a computer but have no printer (for bookings or directions) to print out. But that is a minor complaint.

This Parador has a nice style to it and its location is perfect to walk the city and see the sites. This Parador was not one of my favorites. The room is old style, clean, but has a feeling of being old and musty. Our view was of the street, not the city or fort, that was disappointing. It was not romantic at all and I would probably not stay there again.
