Parador de las Cañadas del Teide    

We liked the atmosphere of the hotel, with its surrounding landscape and its location near the top of Teide. The food of the restaurant was the best we had during our 10 day stay in Tenerife. It was excellent, and the menu had vegetarian and lactose free dishes, which was marked on the menu card.

Exquisite location. Only hotel in National Teide park. Very peaceful. Good food. Very individual.

Only grumble was service very slow in restaurant, mainly due to lack of staff. Swimming pool a little small.

Right in the heart of Teide hiking trails. One night is enough, though - stay longer and enjoy altitude sickness if you choose.

Fantastic location, astonishing and fascinating environment and scenery, fantastic stars,very comfortable. Staff generally good and helpful.

Food was substandard and overpriced, one waiter a bit sullen.

A unique location. Well marked walks, but challenging at times, radiating directly from the hotel. Staffed, national park visitor centre right outside the hotel. Well decorated throughout, with lots of comfortable seating to chill-out and read. A busy but practical cafeteria outside the hotel, to provide light meals when the hotel restaurant didn't.

The restaurant was not very helpful to us as they did not providing light meals. The meals were all very large and expensive. Set meals were 30 euros and far more than we wanted to eat. We ordered what we thought would be a light horsd'oevre tray from room service and ended up with enough food for the night, plus packed lunch for the next day, we still had to throw some away. That does not go down well with our values. The recepton staff were polite but surly. When we asked for sun cream they said we must go to the village 20km away. When we said we had no car their response was, that is difficult!" Fortunately guests behind us heard our plight and gave us their bottle.

We had a one night stay for a birthday celebration. It was a very pleasant stay. we will definitely be back later in the year. Will check that next time there is no full moon so we can get a better view of the stars. Walking to the caldera at 7 am to watch the sunrise was breathtaking.

Location, location, location! Classic (old but very beautiful) interieur. Nice staff. And did we mention? Location! Watch those stars at night. Watch the sunset behind las roques de Garcia!

Two single moved together as a dbl bed. Breakfast room too cold in the morning.

Scenery of course. Dark, clear night sky. I am a keen amateur astronomer. Traditional Spanish decor of hotel lounge, restaurant and our room. Maintenance of room was excellent.

Very poor and expensive breakfast - cold bacon, beans and egg on a cold plate - couldn't eat it. Complained but no apology from staff. Perhaps they think it doesn't need to be hot!? Also the toaster was useless - just warmed and dried the bread.

Fantastic location, clean modern facilities, excellent food.

The humidity in our warm room was very low, especially at night. However, we had plenty of water to drink.

The location of this parador is fantastic - the amazing views of the rocks and mountains from nearby were exceptional.

We felt that all of the staff members we encountered were offhand which left us with a poor impression feeling unwelcome. We thought that the room was poorly lit. In our opinions the condition of the accommodation in general was faded and past its best.

Fantastic location, walking possibilities right from the door. Efficient and welcoming receptionists. Breakfast very good, lovely fresh juice.

Dinner not as good as in other paradors we have stayed at. They did seem to try quite hard however. It is not particularly cosy place in winter and is generally quite starkly furnished.

Very enjoyeable and memorable stay in a unique setting. Staff most helpful and friendly, good dinner and breakfast. Would recommend.

What is not to like. The location is amazing: as far as you can see no other buildings. I stayed there in November, and even then during the day it's relatively busy. At night though the place changes and feels totally deserted, except for you and the hand full of other guests. The views of the Teide peaks, and the night sky are amazing (you can even borrow one of their telescopes for star gazing, and every Friday night they show you interesting pieces of sky through their telescopes.

You're really in the middle of nowhere, nearest shop I know of is 20 km away (and 1km down); also, beware that the temperature will be about 15 degrees lower than at the base during the day. I was there in November, temperature at the beach was 22, up there 5C. At night it got well below freezing. Come prepared!

Stunning location and a good base for Cable Car and local walks in the Caldera.

Pool was more of a plunge pool. Food prices were a bit steep but probably due to the location.

every night the only option for dinner was a very expensive restaurant so we had to drive at least 30 min of difficult roads at night. there was no internet available although there is free wifi at the teide and teleferico. the electricity and water went off several times during our stay. definitely overpriced. the info on routes around was nowhere in the parador ( they could have facilitated it in the rooms at least) only info available was from a portacabin outside, where a not very friendly woman gave us a leaflet and no explanations about the length or dificulty of the walks. plenty of room for inprovement!

Great location. Excellent location to observe the stars as there is very little light pollution in the area. Good food in the restaurant. Very nice rooms.

The pool is very small. Air conditioning centrally controlled which is disappointing for a hotel of this standard.
