The Parador experience

No bar or restaurant (except breakfast). Eating is close by but a nice bar in the evening would be nice. No Internet connection in room. Had to sit in front by the door.

Very large room, wonderful property, exceptional breakfast buffet.

We got great value for our money. The old monastery is very beautiful, and the room was very spacy and comfortable.

The floor was too hot, but they couldn't fix the problem. We got discount, so we were happy to spend the night with such a reasonable price in that historical building.

General feel of the hotel was very good, Decent evening meals / breakfasts and helpful staff.

Some aspects of the room needed updating.

The room was well appointed a spacious. Elaborate breakfast and great selections in the restaurant. Accessible parking.

We love Spain's Paradors!!! In we stayed at 27 of them. Parador Bernardo Fresneda is one the historic ones. We especially enjoyed in large lounge.

Being a Parador, an old hospital the ambiance and decor was amazing. I did book early and room only was Euro 80. ot sure if I would pay much more as it is a very quiet town.

The bathroom door did not close properly and was chipped and looking in need of repair. We did not use the restaurant. We were very far away down 3 corridors. No view.

Spotlessly clean, and beautifully presented in traditional Spanish style within a restored Convent, thus retaining an atmosphere of peaceful grandeur. Attentive staff, very comfortable bedroom and quality dining including a comprehensive breakfast spread. We chose this as an overnight stop on a journey from Marbella to Bilbao, creating a base from which to explore the northern countryside before catching an evening ferry; for this purpose, it was ideal. We would have been happy to stay longer.

Fabulous building, great sense of space, ease of parking (especially my motorcycle) excellent restaurant with delicious food, nice small bar with good selection of wines and beers. A really good stopover en route to the Picos

Near to the centre of the town and a good opportunity to meet and watch the travellers on the Camino de Santiago

Some reception staff spoke poor English and could not handle the phone system Poor use of the cloisters - could have been made a really nice area

No air con in rooms

The place is just very special, is an old monastery and is very well kept. Is also in a wonderful wine region with a great culinary tradition and is on the pilgrimage route to St James .

Excellent spacious and stylish room, very quiet location but also close to the central hub, easy access by car and free parking. The building feels a lot more authentic than other Paradors we have stayed at. Overall a nice experience.

Front of house staff efficient without proffering any information or advice on local attractions and no printed information in English. Advertised as "wifi available throughout the hotel" it was only available on the ground floor close to reception therefore the description could be more honest.

Beautiful Hotel perfectly situated in the Rioja region with the attraction of being a halt on the Camino de Santiago. Like most Paradors, excellent facilities and great rooms in an exquisite decor.

Evening meal was average and choice quite limited.

lovely feel about the place

A beautiful building, full of tapestries and antique furniture, quite an experience. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and well furnished. The staff were very helpful.

I thought the food and drink was very expensive. Our evening meal came to the same price as the room itself - although it was very nice and well presented.

Rooms were good.

Etape sur notre chemin vers St Jacques de Compostelle. Nous avons apprécié le confort, la taille de la chambre, même la télé !
