Tryp Salamanca Montalvo Hotel    

We appreciated the excellent nature of the hotel - from clean rooms to great food, especially their menu-of-the-day as well as their breakfast. We were able to park the car and use wifi without cost and the regular bus to town took just 15 minutes and cost a mere E1.05. We travel widely in Europe without GPS and found the location of the hotel as expressed in Google maps to be about two km further from the A road leading into Salamance than suggested. No problem after that.

Hotel is out of town but a convenient stopover.

The waitress in the restaurant was extremely rude, not only to us but to all nationalities, and should not be employed in a client-facing role. Food was only warm while restaurant was not busy - no excuse. Late start to breakfast makes it difficult to get back on the road quickly.

It was difficult to adjust the air-conditioning and there was no bus to city centre as it was a Sunday.

Juan Luis on reception was first class when we arrived. He down loaded information re the war memorial and opening times. We had asked about it at the desk, on going back to reception he had got all the information for us. The staff in the restaurant were also very good.

The food in the restaurant was not great value. I felt a lot of it was from the freezer. Well presented but not great on flavour or quality.

It was perfect for travelling up through Spain to France, an ideal stopover.

Secure parking, view of the cathedral from the bedroom, welcome snack in the room, excellent breakfast, good dinner.

Indecipherable room number on the key wallet meaning I had to return to reception having guessed wrongly. No bar service out to the terrace so we had to fetch our drinks. Inconsistent wi-fi signal in different areas of the ground floor.

Friendly, helpful reception staff, and a very comfortable hotel. Have stayed here before and will visit again as it is ideal for travelling to the ferry ports.

The prices, service and the food

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room confortable and the restaurant was excellent. We booked for our return journey too and received a good welcome back with a drink and aperitif offered. A nice touch! Would definitely stop there again.

Clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff. Short Taxi ride (about €5 one way) to historic centre. Really good restaurant, and excellent value for money, several different menus plus a la carte. Secure garage. Close to autoroutes.

This was a great hotel as a stopover from Portugal to France, just off the Motorway - we booked a Premier Room as it was on special offer. Room was excellent. There were no tea or coffee sachets in the room when we arrived , so we phoned reception and within minutes the tea and coffee sachets arrived, plus a jug of fresh milk, obviously knew that Brits like milk in their tea! We had the set dinner in the restaurant 11.90 for a 3 course meal inclusive of drinks - very good. When we returned to our room there was a platter with a fresh fruit kebab and fruit juice - a delightful thought, which we've only experienced in the Far East before. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast excellent, lots of choice including hot bacon and scrambled eggs. Plus excellent Wifi in the room. All in all a great decision to stay in this hotel - we would definitely use it again.

Very helpful staff, excellent beds, quiet, good quality rooms. Ideal location for access from motorway and visit to a wonderful city. Overall excellent quality hotel at very reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and left refreshed.

The food whilst always excellent hot food served on cold plates soon goes cold making it less enjoyable.
