Location. Friendly staff.
Toilet/bathroom was down corridor.
Location is great with view of harbour and church. Interesting shops and bars and restaurants all around. Had to engage in a telephone conversation in Spanish to get into the pension, as it was locked when we arrived at about 5 p.m. However, we only had to wait a couple of minutes and the woman who let us in was very friendly. It's a good place to stay if you're going to the ferry at Bilbao.
Opening the windows of the little balcony was an interesting experience. They could use a little work.
Cheap, clean and basic.
Parking for a high topped vehicle was horrendous.
Location is fantastic. Located right in the centre opposite the fishing port and church. Very good value for money - 20€ for one night was excellent. Wifi worked fine and room was large and functional (no.4 at the front). Communal wash facilities were fine but I do imagine that at busy times it could be noisy at night from creaking wooden floors.
You need to pay to park in the underground car park that is opposite as parking is at as premium due to location. I knew this from the outset but one must then budget for the 14€ daily charge so do consider this.
Absolutely fantastic location across from harbour. Big room. Adequate facilities.Balcony,
Price change from what was on booking form. Difference of 2euros.
Sanitation and lack of.
Noise all night long Wooden floors Very poor curtains did not block out light to communal bathroom, thin walls, feral guests who made noise from 1am 4am Incredibly awful experience Location was good
no reception (we had to look for someone at the restaurant next door
Situation - great view
Very, very basic rooms. Dirty shared bathroom with poor sit down shower. Poor fire escape route - would have to go back down the same old wooden staircase you walked up.
Location on the harbour. Views from balcony. Large Clean rooms Quiet. Independent access (keys for room & pension). Old individual building. Enough shared bathrooms
Having to pay up front on first evening of arrival. Price changing (even in Euros) from what was on the booking.com
location was excellent
Great location. Bargain price: 20 euros.
Not appealing to the eye or senses by any means.
If you are looking for something more traditional, la marina is ideal for a stopover on your way through the Basque Country. We were staying above a fish restaurant so it's easy to have a good hearty meal after a days travelling and especially if you are arriving late. Castro urdiales is a delightful fishing harbour, beautiful architecture and if you get a sea view room, there are stunning views to admire.
It's a bit of a climb up some flights of stairs with the luggage and parking outside la marina is difficult but there is an underground car park 100 metres away which is safe and easy to access.
Accommodation was simple and basic, as advertised. Great location in the middle of Castro, close to cafe/bars and shops. Cleaners were very attentive to the rooms. If you like 'no frills' accommodation, La Marina is for you.
No en suite (but we knew this when we booked!), which meant a small trek to/from the bathroom. We arrived at the start of a festival, so on one particular night we needed earplugs to cut-out the noise... but that's to be expected in a town centre.
The view from the room
No wifi in the room
The room was adorable. Perfect location
There were a few dead cockroaches on my floor. Could've been cleaned better. Just a simple sweep would've fixed it though
