1) Location is PERFECT. South of Old Town (so it's 8-15 easy minutes' walk of about a dozen top pinxtos bars recommended by tourist board, and many knickknack shops). Taxi stand outside. Across the plaza from clothes etc shopping, a 3 min walk on same side of street as the cool Mercado Bretxa (go early to browse gorgeous seafood and local produce or buy top quality Jamon Iberico/smoked salmon to bring home), a few minutes from the stunning oceanfront of La Concha Beach, and ATMs nearby. Also 6-12 min walk from min walk from Church and Museo San Telmo, San Vicente church and the start of the scenic walk up Mt Urgull (its really a hill). Walk southeast to two pretty bridges and river views. 2) The bed is firm foam, I found very comfy 3) Spotless clean 4) Small tubes of basic shampoo/body wash provided Did not mind -- 1) Old furnishing a bit depressing but functional and not a big deal. (2) Tiny elevator that didn't use as it was slow and small as Alameda is only on 3/F. (3) Hair drier did not work but other places I stayed didn't even have one (4) I'm quiet older Asian lady traveling alone but felt very safe despite some homeless people in the plaza outside.
1. Wow, I caught the staff on a bad day - the gent at the front desk did not speak ANY English. He and the lady manning the desk later were not pleasant at all when I politely asked if could change rooms to get away from loud talking in the office room. I didn't make any fuss when they refused - it was okay in the end as very quiet at night. (This was during rainy winter) 2. Cooking smell in corridor during day that lessened but still lingered at night. 3. Litter outside the main entrance. The bad bits all made me feel a bit down - great place for location but I don't recommend this for a solo traveler.
The location is good
The husband of hotel owner yelled like a madman about trifles. Finally, we got into the quarrel and he chased me to the out of the hotel and tried to catch at me. He is totally insane and I absolutely recommend you to stay away from him.
Location, staff, quietness (even if located in a central area), comfortability.
Not new, but it wasn't really a problem cause everything was in very good conditions.
The location of the pension, the cleanliness of the room, Theresa's hospitality and readiness to help. Great value for money.
Two things which did not cause a lot of inconvenience but which would be most welcomed: a new lift and hangers in the bathroom.
Hotel is right at the old town of san Sebastian and within walking distance of renfe (15min) and Euskotren station(20min). Hotel rooms are well maintained and very clean. Hotel owners are just lovely People.
The personal service and absolutely spotless rooms!
Location in the heart of San Sebastian, friendly staff, bizarre but fun elevator, comfortable room.
Everything about how the hotel interacted with my car. It's hard to find driving (signage is in Basque but all maps are Spanish - not hotel's fault). They did not give information on where to park and how to get from garage to hotel (so I could go directly to garage instead of driving around with no idea what to do. Their parking credit also was not properly explained to me and as a result, I had to pay twice for the service.
Great location, helpful owners
My Mum stayed here for 5 nights in October and raved about the owners hospitalitly, the homliness, the location and the cleanliness of this pension every day. She is now threatening to come and visit much more often, safe in the knowledge that she need look no further than Alameda...
Pretty much everything, very friendly and central place. Hosts gave us a choice of an inter--courtyard facing room, very quiet & comfortable. They have rooms with views, etc., but we are glad we chose this one...Loved the classic old European elvevator.
The location was excellent. Staff very pleasant.
Can be a little bit noisy at times.
The hosts were lovely people. The location is excellent in the old part of tow, near the beach and fabulous restaurants, and a 15 minute walk from the train station.
The neighbourhood is a little bit exuberant on the weekends... But that's part of the charm, isn't it?
Fantastic location right on the edge of the old city. Everything we wanted to enjoy our stay
great location, very clean, wonderful staff
our room was stuffy, with only a window to a smelly back alley and no airconditioning (there's central air which guests have no control over and was rarely turned on even though it was quite hot at night). water pressure was poor, and there wasn't enough hot water.
Best location in the heart of the old town. Owners were a very nice spanish speaking couple who did everything they could to make our stay as good as possible.
No air conditioning so it was loud with the window open.
The hotel is centrally located, close to the beach, old town, bars and restaurants. The owners are charming and helpful. I would recommend this spot to friends for a safe, clean, quiet spot in the center of a lovely gastronomic town.
Great Room with a very nice view, Great Location in Old Part of town
Directions Not easy to find
helpful, friendly Staff even dried my wet shoes from the heavy rain that night great location close to the Pintox bars in the old town, La Concha beach and the new town very close to nearby shops and bars free Wi Fi close to bus transport hub old style lift with a bench seat! just make sure you close both sets of doors properly
shower water was only warm and room could have been a little warmer when the temperature dropped lower than forcast! couldn't find any English speaking channels?
great location very helpful owners clean room, good ensuite
the lift street noise at night
Friendly staff, great location and clean comfortable room
Room a little small for a triple with too much furniture eg sofa limiting space to manoeuvre. Otherwise great.
The hosts were excellent; accommodating, friendly and helpful. Our room was very quiet, the beds were very comfortable, and the room was very clean.
No individual control of air conditioning.
The owner of the Pension did all she could to make sure I was welcome, my needs were met and to pass the time of day.
Great location. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.
The bed and pillow were uncomfortable. Also the air cond. on the first night wasn't turned on until approx. 11.00 pm and on the 2nd. night it failed to fire. This left the room very hot.
Hard to find
Service, Location, and Teresa the host was wonderful and very helpful with all the staff very accommodating.
