This is a place for backpackers when it comes to the atmosphere and the rooms themselves are very very basic which is fine in general only it wasn't very obvious from the description or photos.

perfect location. nice staff (they dont speak english) clean room. big and comfortable. 2 bathrooms and showers. never needed to wait for it to be free. I missed calculated my duration of stay and didnt book the last night! so i had to checkout at 12:00 and didnt even know it and came back only in the afternoon! they were really nice, didnt charge extra and helped me to book another hotel!
feels more like being in a family's house and not hotel. sometimes its awkward. 1 night from the 4 i stayed there was very very noisy- TV and yelling (im quite sure it was from the family who lives there..) eventually i had to open and shut my door loudly and i guess it reminded them they have guests cuz it stopped..
good value for the money, central position
I had room without balcony (but, when I reserved, I asked for room with balcony). The room had a little window with internal view (no good view!). Double bed was little, uncomfortable, with only one long pillow for 2 persons (very uncomfortable). Bathroom was often busy and not clean during night.
Staff was horrendous. Extremely rude. There was a dog that lived there that barked constantly, anytime it heard a noise. Staff never tried to stop the dog from barking. The door to the room that I stayed in was not secured. It had a lock on the knob but if you just pushed the door slightly it opened, so my belongings were never secure there. I kept something against the door when I slept so I would hear if someone entered. Horrible! The property is VERY noisy! Both from inside noise. The staff member awakened me the first morning as she was having an argument and yelling at a guest. The yelling went on for quite some time. The internet does not work properly. I reported this to the staff. I was told I should sit in the lobby in use it. (My room was the next room over from the lobby). The bathroom was filthy. The shower did not drain adequately. The toilet was disgusting. Between the dog barking, the staff yelling and the noisy coming and going I barely got three hours sleep. When I went to leave the staff person had difficulty with processing my credit card. I told her there was no problem with the card. She kept insisting there was. I showed her on my phone that the account was in good standing, but she was not entering the information correctly in the credit card machine. She started yelling at me (like she did with another guest the morning before). She told me to leave my bags there and go get cash. I stated that I could not do that as I had to catch a plane. She then threatened to call the police. She continued to try to coerce me into paying her cash. She continued yelling and calling me multiple obscenities. Finally she processed the charge on my card and I was able to leave. This was by far the worst travel experience I have ever had with accommodations. I typically use another site for my travel needs but booked this as a last minute choice. I will not make this same mistake a second time.

Walking distance to many of destinations - pl. de Catalunya (2 steps), Rambla, Barri Gotic area etc. Possible easily to reach any place in the city by metro, 2 steps to direct airport bus. Clean. Friendly stuff.
Receptionists- Mohammed and Latifa, made us feel like home, took us to Hammam (traditional baths) -superb experience, they explained us how to get to all interesting places in Fez, now we are friends. Dar Mehdi is a lovely riad, perfect location, very clean, lovely terrace. Would recommend to everyone- families and solo backpackers.
Days should be longer so we could enjoy this place even more.

Excellent location. Friendly staff.
Place was more like a b & b than a hotel due to the dog and kids. Could hear everything that was going on. Wi fi did not work at all. Air con stopped working on the last night and unfortunately it was unbearably hot. If you are not too fussy though it does have an amazing location as its 2 mins from Catalunya plaza.
Internet reception was weak in the room.
Because of the reception we didn't like the hotel at all, nothing to recommend.
The staff was very mean, actually all the Spanish we met in Barcelona was not very nice. We said around 12 and because the delay of the flight we got there around 1, which I think is not too bad cuz I did say around 12 not at 12. The lady at the reception yelled at us as soon as we entered in hotel, making it sounds like all out fault. I just think in the business of tourism she should have a better temper and tolerance, since I'm the one who paid for it, I should get the service I need right? I'm Never going back to that hotel again even the room is ok to be honest.
