Just 100 metres from Tarifa’s main beach, Pensión Villanueva features a communal sun terrace with sea views. Located on the edge of Tarifa’s old town, it is surrounded by cafés, bars and restaurants.

Centrally located in Tarifa’s Old Quarter, this guesthouse is a 10 minute walk from the beach and marina. Its rooftop sun terrace offers excellent views of the town to Morocco.
Score from 121 reviews Very good
Built into the ancient walls of Tarifa, Hostal El Asturiano offers charming rooms with traditional furniture. The centre of Tarifa is 10 minutes’ walk away, while Los Lances Beach is 500 metres away.
Score from 229 reviews Very good
This modern, value hotel has simple, bright rooms with their own bathrooms. It is ideally located in a quiet area of the center of town with easy access to the beach.
Score from 239 reviews Good
Brilliant location, clean, shared bathrooms, sink in the room. Recommended
The hostal was clean
The staff are extremely rude, when we got back we had to prove we were staying there, just unpleasant staff all round
The location (filling in the extra space to hit the 200 character minimum, since there was nothing positive about this hostel besides the location)
Staff was very unfriendly and rude. It felt more like boot camp than a hostel. We were yelled at for watching a video on YouTube in our room. Then, the following morning, a staff member opened our door and started yelling at us about the same thing, threatening to kick us out on the street and call the police if we did it again. A YouTube video. The doors were very flimsy and either near impossible to open or far too easy, even when locked. I opened our door effortlessly using a credit card the first day when we forgot our key in the room. My girlfriend was questioned about why she was entering her friend's room, yelling "two people in a single room?!?" One night we were hassled when returning, being asked to provide our names, room numbers, and other personal information, even though we all had our keys in our hands. I can understand being asked this once, but they kept asking over and over before finally letting us in. Showering was also a pain, since the showers were like the sinks you find in public restrooms, where you have to push it down to have the water flow for only a few seconds before having to push it again. All in all, unless someone is holding a gun to your head, avoid staying here.
The private rooms, private shower booths and pretty close to the centre
The common room was crowded and had some strangers making a lot of noise
Lots of different rooms, including dorms for backpackers, single and double rooms and enough common showers/toilets. The common room to hang around or to get to know other travellers was also nice. The location is ok, about a 5-10min walk to the beach but right next to a road with some traffic day and night since the hostel is not located in the historic center of Tarifa! But definitely a good option for backpackers or anyone who just needs a comfortable and relaxing place to stay without any frills.
Unfortunately I had problems with bed bugs during my one night stay in August! I stayed in room No. 11 which seemed very clean, a single room without a bathroom. But when I woke up the next moring my lower legs and my arms were covered with little itching bites, definitely not from mosquitoes!!
The thing that saved te hostel for me was one member of staff who unfortunately I did not take the name of but who particularly helpful and happy to tell us about the places to eat etc.
The service was rude and cold, considering we'd just forked out €70 euros we were hoping for something more patient and respectful. Both my boyfriend and I were very tired when we arrived and were upset to have pick hairs from between our sheets because it had not been cleaned properly, nor did we sleep well because in the small hours of the morning there were shouts and crashes in the corridor from many of the other guests that were easily audible in our room. No a/c ...what did our €70 pay for?
Central location. Cheap prices. The sink in the private room. Very clean.
Small bed. Spotty wireless internet. Expensive laundry service.
It's good place just to sleep and go. It's clean and has location.
Wi-Fi was poor in the room (I had to go to hallway to get better connection). The room smelled of some kind of soup or something. The checkout is 10:30. The place was extremely impersonal.
The location was very good, close to the city center, to the beach, to the supermarket. Also there was a sink in the room so you don't have to use the shared bathroom every time you want to wash hands. Though the shared bathroom was nice and clean.
A bit noisy as everybody is using the shared bathroom. Also there was quite intense smell of smoking in the room that disturbed me a lot.
On arrival the staff member was fantastic and friendly.
Reception staff member extremely helpful and friendly. Room had a sink which was very useful
Bed was uncomfortable
The Staff here were rude pretty much from arrival, nothing major but lots of silly rules like you can't take your bag into the kitchen and arnt exactly polite about enforcing them. Beds were uncomfortable and dishes in the kitchen were not clean
Good location, clean room.
Small room and no seating area in the hostel. The hose of the shower was disconnecting all the time.
It was very clean and orderly
It was extremely impersonal
Very well set up hostel. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets. Not a sociable hostel but a great place to sleep.
very noisy rooms, you can hear your neighbours a bit too much...
too cold, not as beautyfull as in pictures

I liked I was charged only 15 euro for 1 night for a lovely small room, with bed and sink, very comfortable, and clean, thanks to the tiled floors .
it was just a touch cold at night, plenty blankets on bed,but no central heating, showers were warm with lots room,a little local chatter under neath window at times during small hours, due to 24h shop, but it never disturbed me that much
Quiet area, clean manageable kitchen with sufficient cooking utensils, clean well looked after hotel generally. Friendly reception.
Shower did not stay on for more than a few seconds at a time. Second morning there was an electricity failure so I couldn't have a shower and I had to get dress in the dark in time to catch the ferry.
Rested from November 17 to 19. Very clean, spacious room, near supermarkets.
Not heated - I had to sleep in clothes.
