location is superb friendly staff lots of restaurants and tapas around
tiny room guy with emphysema coughing up his lungs every morning at 5am in the building next door
Very close to the port of Barcelona & La Rambla. Cleanliness of the rooms.
Great friendly staff. Helpful and able to awnser any questions and assist promptly when needed. Nice basic room for a nice cheap price.
As in other comments, its not the quietest place - thin walls! However we'd read that and even the man on reception said so and advised if I'm a light sleeper to get some ear plugs. However, it wasn't really a problem at all. So as long as you're aware of that its not a problem. Also, knowing that it helps if guests are considerate of their next doors neighbors and then everyone has a pleasant stay.
Pension Portugal is in a good location near walking tour routes and port. I am feeling safe when I stay there. Thank you.
Very close to the Rambles Simple but enough to stay a couple of nights or more
Nothing Everything was OK for the price Great value
The location was great and overall the room was value for money.
Our room stank of cigarettes which I hate and spoiled the stay for us. There was a barking dog opposite which was annoying but not too bad.. There was a party Saturday night which was noisy in the early morning but doubt that would be a regular event.
Great location, 24 hour reception, small but comfortable room.
Perfect location, near Rambla and Barceloneta, on a quiet secondary street. Clean. Nice staff except the guy from the evening of October 21
If you get the single room that is near the reception, forget about a good sleep. Noise from turists and staff. Unfortunely, when I asking a little low sound level in reception in the night of October 21, I was invited to go out !!! Incredible attitude.
the location was very central, the staff was friendky, the size of the room was ok. the wi fi worked almost all of the time, there were always hot water and clean sheets
the room was verry stuufy. the windows turned to other rooms and there wes no air. at our last day they turned off the air condition system beacause of the winter that's coming. but it wad still hot and you could'nt breath in the room. if you opened a window there was a terrible smell of frying. the shower's curtain was full of moal and the towels, bed covers and blanket were dirty
Small room, no shampoo, and very noisy outside at times, but for €35 a night in the old town, fine.
Location is perfect Close to all what you need. Cleanliness of sheets and room were good.
First evening when I come to Pension man on office desk was very cold. When I returned from my room to ask him internet password he was not useful and he didn't wanted to help me to establish internet access on my laptop. He didn't know password although password is daily date. Guy who was working next day was much more friendly and helpful. Strange smell in the room on moisture.
It was my 2nd hotel in Barcelona and as I had very warm welcoming in the 1st hotel, Pension Portugal seemed a bit cold for me. Probably I won't choose it for the next stay as it's located in quite noisy place and looks a bit old. However it could be considered as a good option with the reasonable price and own bathroom. Generally I am satisfied with the place for one night.
Weak WiFi connection that also required log in with facebook account and sharing personal data.
Lift access, air con, free wireless & TV. Very close to La Rambla, metro stations and Estacio Franca. Helpful & friendly staff. Very clean.
Nothing, perfect value for money especially for location.
location 24 hours reception comfortable bed ok shower
small room very noisy location no wifi in the room wifi in the reception area breaks off
I liked the fact that the hotel was situated on a great location. There was a receptionist 24/7 which was great. And inspite of the great location in the centre of Barcelona, there are some great places to eat and drink near the hotel.
I slept in the singles room which was really small. I had a little shower but the shower head breacket was broken so I had to hold the shower head the whole time while showering. They have a Wi-Fi connection but it was sooo bad, you constantly have to log in and out so really don't count on it. I talked about it to the receptionist but he told me he did not understand the problem. He said the system was new so it simply had to work. The room was very noisy. The wall are made of paper so you hear every word your neighbours say, you constantly hear the buzz of the door bell, the receptionists little television and the elevator. I brought earplugs for the night and then the noises were blocked which made my stay better.
Our room was comfortable with an outlook over a small courtyard. Location excellent just off Las Ramblas and near waterfront.
Quite a lot of stairs to climb to reception. Fortunately we didn't have much luggage. Reception took some time to unlock front door when we arrived.
Perfect location, nice rooms for this price range.
It was very centrally located, making it easy to get to most of the attractions and was close to the train for those too far to walk. The room was very clean, with towels, soap and shower gel. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very pleasant and helpful, so for these reasons I could recommend it.
For a deluxe double room, it was very basic. More like a hostel than a hotel. There was only 1 chair and no table. If you wanted to get takeaway and eat in the room, you had to sit on the bed. Although they advertise free internet, it did not work. Apparently they had just changed the service.
Location was very good just off las ramblas. Staff pleasant. Bed clean and towels fresh.
We had paid for a superior room and got room 217 which didn't have the promised street view which my sister had in 203. Also daily housekeeping didn't happen on day 2. The room we had needed upgraded it was poor decor but sisters room much more modern. Requested a move but told full up and to speak to booking.com.
location and air conditioner in the room
Rooms are very small, bathrooms are smaller than rooms. No visitors. It is noisy a bit. It is a bit expensive for these conditions
location is great. It is near the metro, taxi station, port, 1 minutes going to Rambla. They clean rooms every day. Stuff is polite, speaks English. There is a conditioner but last days it started to drop.
It has very small room, everything was broken in the bathroom. Once the receptionist said it is prohibit to have visitors or pay 15€! It is not a student hostel!!! It is noisy a big because walls are thin.
very helpful and nice stuff. central location. couldn't be better. fair budget accommodation
bed is not comfortable. room doesn't look like what shown in booking website.
Receptionist unfriendly and unhelpful. Very bad wifi signal. Some days i didn't have wife at all
Location , proximity and service .
Too hard a bed for an old man/
