Location - right in the centre of Madrid. Quiet, clean, and great staff. Awesome breakfast.

Great value for money and the location in the city center. Hotel is at the beginning of Calle de Huertas and next the Plaza Mayor as well as Sol. There are many good restaurants, jazzclubs and cafés. Place has a friendly staff, clean rooms and breakfast buffet.

Great location,close to Plaza del sol whitch is the center of madrid. Very helpfull and freindly staff (Daniel and another big guy with a white beard) they were like our friends.

A little bit noisy. But it was ok for us.

We booked a room for four (2 adults and 2 kids). We got a suite with 4 beds. The room was spacious but heating was not working making it very uncomfortable. The staff were not able to resolve the heating problem as the heater facility was not enough according to size of the room. They moved us to another room which was a lot smaller with three beds but heating was fine in the room

The location is excellent Helpful staff even the ones who cannot speak English very well

Though we booked a double room with a double bed, what we had were 2 single beds, made with single sheets, single blankets etc moved against each other. Room and water were not warm/hot enough on late afternoon / early evening of December 31st

Lousy hotel but good location. extremely small rooms, very uncomfortable. Unable to take a shower without bumping against the wall or the bathroom curtains. Breakfast sucks.

We changed to another hotel immediately after the first night. We hated everything except the location. It is a lousy hotel. Stay away.

Location - so close to Plaza del Sol and the metro and anything you would need. It was budge friendly. It was clean. It had air conditioning.

Nothing. It doesn't have a lot of amenities but those aren't necessary.

Staff was amazing. Very clean and comfortable rooms. This hostel fulfilled all the needs for the money requested. Breakfast is nice. I DO RECOMMEND this hostel to everyone.

Small lift was the only disadvantage, but dont think this really matters.

The staff is very resourceful, just as it was 15 years ago.

The location was fantastic, with easy walking access to the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Prado and Thyssen. The Hotel itself is a bit characterless in the rooms, but OK. The Reception was variable - ranging from charming to grumpy !

Our main problem was the bed in our double room - it was far too small, so we had 2 rather uncomfortable nights. I would only recommend the hotel if you are single or can get a twin room !

Excellent hotel, perfect location in central madrid and very close to everything. Staff very friendly, rooms clean and organized, good breakfast.

Very good location. Very good breakfast (would have liked some fresh fruit however, but all in all, very good). Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean (nothing fancy, but absolutely sufficient and clean).

I don't know, how the price compares to other hotel, but I thought it was a bit on the upper nodge for a two star hotel. (But maybe it's justified to the excellent location. I'm not sure)

The breakfast was excellent and the common rooms were very nice. The location was perfect and very quiet.

We loved the ambient, the breakfast, the staff, the room, it was very light and spacious (we were in a triple room). The location is wonderful, very central.

Our fourth stay and will continue to use Hostal Persal while visiting our family in Madrid. Excellent position for all the attractions and the staff very friendly, helpful and speak English. The Hostal has a very attractive entrance and there is marble flooring throughout. The breakfast is fairly basic but adequate. The rooms on the front of the building have a small balcony, which is nice, and the square below is pedestrianised, but people do wander around well into the early hours, so there can be some noise but not really a problem. There is a tiny general store next door which is fantastic for buying milk, juices, fresh fruit and just about anything else. Very handy.

Just be aware that the lift only serves up to the third floor. If you have a problem with stairs, ask for a room avoiding the 4th floor in the hotel comments window when booking.
