Fantastic location. Right in the centre of a vibrant city and walkable to most places. We requested rooms over the square and it was a great view of a bustling city.
Can be a bit noisy but as we requested rooms over the square this was expected.
Excellent location. Good breakfast.
Informality & old fashioned feel of the hotel environment & efficiency of staff b&b buffet good value, location could not be bettered virtually traffic free plaza location
The hostal is near Plaza Santa Ana, where you can have a nice meal and hang out. It is also near to the Puerta del Sol, where you can take the metro. You can buy water and snacks in stores nearby. The hostal has an elevator (a plus with the luggage) and the room has a TV, blower and it has plenty of space. Mine was very quiet. Breakfast is optional.
Location was good, staff was kind
Bed was poor. Breakfast was poor
Staff was helpful.
Only problem was with sleep in adjusting to 6 hour time change.
It's a well managed place and a fantastic location. Everyone spoke English well and were help full. I liked the big windows and fresh air, particularly since my room was very small, as I imagine most of them to be.
The real problem is that that walls are paper thin and noise travels from the halls and one room to the next in a very bad way. Not only does one not want to hear their neighbors, one does not want one's neighbors to hear them.
Very good breakfast Liked the decor of entrance and dining room. Convenience of location superb.
Room was very warm. Air con seemed a little weak.
The hotel's central location within walking distance of most major attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a casual, relaxed atmosphere. My room, although basic, provided everything required for a very reasonable price.
Pleasant breakfast room and good breakfast. Excellent and very helpful staff. Excellent location and good value for money over all.
My mattress was lumpy and the airco was noisy. I couldn't sleep with windows open because the room was noisy. Bathroom was tiny. I am small and slim and only just fitted between the wash basin and the wall!
- Too small room, - too dark room, - staff were not helpful, - soundproofing between rooms was terrible(even we heard the snoring man from the next room very clearly), - bed was very uncomfortable(my husband is 1.80, I am 1.65, we could not fit the bed ) , I recommend prefer different hotel.
The location was excellent
The room was very simple and the beds were too hard
Location, atmosphere, breakfast.
A little noisy at night with windows open due to local bars etc. problem solved by closing the windows
Location is great, many restaurants nearby, 5 mins walk to Sol plaza Very friendly staff Good wifi connection
Room is quite small and old fashion
Superb location within walking distance of all major attractions with many excellent bars and restaurants just a short walk away. Staff very friendly.
Very small bedroom with very small shower room and no view. Breakfast adequate.
This was my second stay at this hostal and I would stay here again. It has an excellent location with a super friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is substantial and will help get you through the day. You have everything you need in Madrid right out your doorstep with an intimate atmosphere!
Very close to the main city square and metro station, just a 20 minute walk from Atocha Main Railway station and all the musems like Prado, Princess Sofia etc. A decent breakfast for such a price (80 eur for two per night), shower gel/hand soap/toothbrush glasses included.
It was cold that night, but no blankets in the suite - maybe because it was early autumn and before that it was rather cold? The walls are very thin, we heard two elderly ladies speaking very clear, and the same story with the outside street noise, but happily everything was quiet by midnight. Nevertheless, it's a pretty good deal for a sleepover in Madrid or even an option to stay there for a week, if you are short of money.
Quiet Reasonably priced Clean and tidy
Very near to attractions.
Too small and dark rooms.
The staff were very helpful, an equal walk in all directions to different sites, and just a 5 to 10 Minute walk from SOL metro.
could be noisy from other guests
Great breakfast, excellent location
Plaza del Ángel somewhat noisy
Persal is actually a 2* hostel, as written on the main entrance, not a 3*, as presented on booking.com. Extremely small rooms (max 12mp including bathroom!), paper thin walls, small bed. Modest breakfast. Very expensive for what it has to offer. Do not recommend it!
Very clean and sympathic hotel near Sol. Easy access to metro and trains in city centre. No traffic noise.
The view from window was only the back wall of other building, so it was better to close curtains.
Super friendly staff, very tidy & perfect location
Poor WiFi connectivity in some areas of the hostel
Great location for a visit to madrid.central for everything.historic.resturants.tapas..friendly helpful staff..nice restaurant joined to persal gingers...great price...would defo stay here again...downside madrid in general is expensive compared to other locations...but there are value places ..to eat n drink...if you look around
Some local bars ripping off tourists...jazz bar ..500 yds from persal .1 small beer 1 coke ...m10 euros........ask first....
