As soon as we arrived we were treated so well by the staff. Everyone was very helpful and couldn't do a enough for us. The room we stayed in - Junior Suite was amazing with a stunning view of the squire. The Spa,,,,,, well, this has to be the best Spa I have ever been too. I wished we had booked for more than two days.
The only niggle we had was the dressing gowns that we provided for us in our rooms. They were quite tired with holes.
a beautiful boutique hotel. very pleasant stay. The restaurant next door is excellent.
Room. Hotel staff. Baths. Location
Breakfast below par. Poor instructions on web site regarding how to get to the hotel and how to park.
The baths were wonderful!
Great Location, very comfortable.Free visit to Arab baths Staff very helpful very good Tapas bars in area
no hotel car park & Parking in area can be expensive
Very friendly concierge, unexpectedly pleasant roof terrace bar. Wonderful hamman and massuses. Well situated for exploring old streets restaurants and shops. Delicious contemporary tapas bar adjoining hotel
No room service and not obvious how to ring reception
Located perfectly within the old Arabic quarter, in a lovely, tranquil square, this hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday. We were smitten with the roof terrace and the lovely views of the Alcabazar and the mountains beyond. The fabulous hamam in the basement of the hotel, are owned by the hotel, as is the wonderful restaurant in the square, where we ate like royalty for a fraction of London prices. Oh, and compliments to the barman and the chef who made delicious sushi on the roof terrace, My room was spacious and had a great photo of the mountain range near Almeria on one wall - very atmospheric. All in all, you got the whole package staying in this hotel, beauty, local atmosphere, and tranquillity. Oh, and the guy who ran the bar opposite supplied us with delicious organic, mint tea, paella and delicious wine, whilst we watched the world cup. I've got flamenco connections with Almeria and will be back - and will always stay at the Plaza Vieja.
A little grouse: the staff were absolutely delightful and could not do enough for us but the toiletries in the rooms were supplied in a random fashion. For example, my friend had a towelling robe, I did not; I had shampoo and conditioner, she did not. Looked as if a checklist was not in operation!
The room was fantastic; stylish and comfortable with a fabulous view of plaza vieja and beyond. The baths were wonderfully relaxing - the perfect end to our stay in Almeria. The location was great being right next to both the old and new towns. We would definitely recommend.
The staff were lovely and the baths are amazing. great location and fantastic Basque tapas/pintxo bar attached. Such a relaxing holiday. Thanks!
The hotel is really lovely: smart modern rooms and in a great location; staff were very helpful and our room rate included use of spa. Checkout time was a very civilised 1pm. Good wifi and wide screen television. Great rooftop terrace and we had a lovely view overlooking the square.
Difficult to find: best to follow signs to 'Ayuntamiento' parking and the car park is a couple of minutes away from the hotel. Breakfast was not great but OK. There was a function in the square the night we stayed (nothing to do with the hotel) so it was quite noisy but probably normally quiet: the square seemed generally peaceful
Location is fantastic and this is a lovely hotel. Roof terrace is not to be missed although we had to take our own drinks up. Spacious modern comfortable room, though not the best design. Had two great nights sleep.Staff were always helpful although the trainee forgot to code our electronic key but we were rescued by the chambermaid who helpfully was able to let us in. Food is served at the adjacent restuarant where the food and service great the couple of times we used it.
Arrived Sunday, Monday the restaurant was closed so no breakfast. Large wardrobe only four hangers and one small drawer hard to open, for the two of us. We were in room 103 which had a view of the powercables in the back street. Only the junior suites have a view of the square. Bathroom has an ill fitting mirrored glass door which looks great but means that you are on full view when using the toilet so may not be the best arrangement if you are there for the romance
Very close to the Alcazaba, restaurants, shopping etc. located in a plaza. Go in the door that looks like it's for the Arabic baths.
Superb staff, great spa, quiet but central location, massive room and great restaurant next door. Will be going back!
The soundproofing could be improved, it's not quite up to standard. But I'm a light sleeper, once I got some earplugs it was fine, and my wife didn't notice it at all.
Great central position Impressive, historic location Stylish, well-appointed room Turkish Baths in hotel 'cellar' Roof terrace with great view
Choice of breakfast rather limited Parking costs quite expensive No hotel movie channels and only one (dull) English language TV channel
I lespecially iked the location, the room arrangement, the politeness of the staff and the hammam.
Spatious room. Very nice Hammam bath, directly connected to the hotel.
TV Canal+ did not work.
The rooms are amazing, we stayed in the junior suite for which we couldn't fault, and the receptionist was as helpful as she could be, however...
The wifi does not work in the hotel rooms, but does work in the lobby area, not what it states when booking. When we arrived we were told we could use the spa baths once during our stay which was great, however they failed to tell us that they would be closed for the 2 days which we stayed so could only use them the night we arrived. Fine but they failed to tell us! We booked this hotel for it being luxury and expecting a relaxing break. We soon found out why the spa baths were closed. 8:30am on our first morning the builders moved in with banging and drilling right up until 3pm, the noise was constant! We complained to the manager about these problems and his reply was "we can't do anything because you booked through booking.com." We were really looking forward to our stay at the Plaza Vieja hotel and lounge but we were very very disappointed. If we would have known about the work going on at the hotel at the time of booking or even days before we would have cancelled and gone somewhere much cheaper and had a much better time. Thanks Plaza Vieja Hotel and Lounge for nothing!!
The room, Hamam was perfect, in the middel of everything perfect, parking a problem, service very good. It has to be finished.
Location was great. Ate at the Hotel Restaurant and the Chinese Restaurant and both were very good. Some nice bars nearby
The water from the shower was not contained and run onto the bathroom floor
Amazing suite with beautiful view of the square. Super-Comfortable bed and pillows, and fantastic Arab Baths
Bathroom with no privacy and no space for toiletries. Breakfast in the restaurant not comfortable and to be improved with fresh food.
Location in a lovely largely pedestrian square. Our room was very theatrical double height felt Errol Flynn would enter swashbuckling at ant minute.
Finding it. We had walked around old town and so had some idea where it was. One way system in old town inevitable but confusing. Parking was expensive at 16 euros
I liked the atmosphere
Clean, comfortable rooms and excellent Arab Baths.
No space in bathroom for toiletries and to put hairdryer down when drying hair
Short walking distance to Alcazaba Room size (large) Friendly, helpful staff Excellent restaurant (Alejandro) Very clean Air-conditioned
Long walking distance to beach Lack of bathroom privacy (glass doors) Water from shower leaked profusely onto bathroom floor
