This hotel is next to Madrid's Plaza Mayor, a 5-minute walk from the Royal Palace and Puerta del Sol. It includes stylish rooms with hydro-massage showers and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 1078 reviews Very good
The María Elena Palace is 320 yards from the Puerta del Sol in central Madrid. Its lobby has a beautiful glass roof, and it has rooms with a hydro-massage shower.
Score from 1607 reviews Good
This stylish hotel has a furnished roof terrace with a seasonal hot tub and wonderful views of Madrid. Rooms include free Wi-Fi and flat-screen satellite TV.
Score from 1989 reviews Excellent
The staff were professional and unfailingly helpful. I requested a quiet room and got just that...just steps away from where the "action" is in Madrid. Amazing.
The bed was not very comfortable though I did get used to it over the five days. The tv had no English speaking station which was an issue for me. The staff were apologetic but couldn't make it happen. It would be nice to have a chair that you could sit in comfortably to read!
The hotel is in a fantastic location, the room was very clean, modern and spacious. The hydro massage shower was brilliant. We used the free bicycle hire and enjoyed exploring Madrid on them. We would stay at this hotel again and really recommend it.
Location and the breakfast.
Comfort of bed was not so good.
Excellent location, easy to find, friendly staff
Spoke to front desk rep, they could not make a recommendation for dinner (?)
This hotel is placed right where you want to be to have a great experience in Madrid. It also features a very helpful staff, and very modern facilities. A true very good recommendation. Surrounded by local eateries, and great historical landmarks, you cannot missed it.
There were some repair work being done very close that created some noise, but mostly around the lobby area.
Location Free wifi Balcony view Breakfast Shower
Random exercise bike in room Room was very dark and decor was a bit dated No full length mirrors and oddly placed ones above the tv We left some money out on the desk as we went for breakfast when we returned the cleaner had taken it assuming it was was a tip and left a thank you note- it wasnt!!
Location, friendly helpful & very polite staff - especially night reception who dealt with our post midnight arrival
Nothing - all good
Location vedcentral. Ideal forthose who needto return to the hotel several times during the day for any reason..without loosing too much time..very clean. The consierge were very polite..very close to the subway and walking distance from all major attraction
I believe that during warmer season its a little noisy during the night
staff and stairs
noisy because too close to Plaza Mayor noisy because you hear next rooms, upstairs and corridor rooms are not impressive at all (maybe last floor under the roof is better?)
Location, location, location. The staff fantastic... from restaurant to reception.
Nothing I did not like...
Clean, good location
Calamari odor, fridge did not work, bait and switch on foom price. And breakfast
This hotel is right in the thick of busy and bustling Madrid. We got in late and only had one night for a layover but because the hotel is located right downtown, we were able to walk right into into the action and have a wonderful dinner. Love the look of the hotel rooms, very modern and cool looking ( with some small concerns on the beds and bathroom.) Front desk happily arranged airport taxi which was prompt and helpful. The heat in the room worked well and was needed. I liked the balconies over the street. Overall I would strongly recommend to anyone wanting to be near the action. I also liked the design books in the room - fun to look at .
The beds are a little stange - we wanted twin beds and they were put right together which was strange and they also move around the platforms. The bathrooms doesn't seem very private - the door does not fully close. It would probably be better for a couple than a mother/daughter.
Excellent position and breakfast
The front desk was very, very helpful! The breakfast was great!
The street noise was terrible.
-location very good -price pretty good - facilities good - near sol metro station and 10 min walking to the most important streat in Madrid wich is ( Gran via)
-Noise and noise Small rooms only for two persons no more Other wise nothing pad to say
Smell in the room. Very poor beds and pillows. Very Limited standing height at 4th floor room. No wardrobes at all!
This hotel is perfect if you are visiting the city for a short time. Being in the hart of the city makes everything close by.
The only problem that we found was that the Taxi had to drop us of a block away because of the a proximity of the hotel to the pedestrian Plaza Major
Great hotel in the middle of Madrid
Could be a bit noisy until the early hours
location, character of the hotel
I had an e-mail confieming an early check in and late check out, but my room was not ready on arrival and I had to argue to get the late check out after been told I would have to pay for it, also breakfast was until 11 on Sunday but we were not told it finished at 10:30 on Monday, staff were rude in the breakfast room.
We always stay here when we travel to and from Spain. The location is fantastic, and, for the most part the staff is phenomenal. I travel on business to Spain several times a year and this is always a "must" stop.
loved this historic and awesome hotel. Great breakfast and great location. We were happy and comfortable. Also liked the complimentary fruit, kids buffet area, and kids gifts. We would definitely stay again!!!
We were stayed here for 3 nights, went to seville, and then returned for one night. Our first room was smallish and an interior room looking into a courtyard area. It was super quiet. Our second room was huge, and looked out onto a square in Madrid. It was a great view but loud at night.
The hotel is very beautiful and is situated right in the centre of Madrid which made it a great city break. Staff were lovely and the breakfast very good. A good few nights.
The bed we had (room 517) was really hard, and the room very small, which meant we could not relax there between sightseeing trips. We came home tired through lack of sleep!
Location, breakfast, people.
Room could be bigger
needed a triple room as 3 lads on football trip and they are very hard to find but ended up with a room with 2 singles and a bunk bed which suited us perfectly. free wi-fi. great location for metro and bernabau.
front desk staff allowed me to use their computer
public computer kept shutting down before I finished my task
