Overlooking Santander Bay and the city’s cathedral, the Hotel Bahía has free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour front desk. Santander’s ferry terminal and main train and bus stations are just 215 yards away.
Score from 1546 reviews Excellent
This seafront hotel is 65 ft from Sardinero Beach. It features elegant rooms, in many cases with views of the Cantabrian Sea, 65 ft from Sardinero Gran Casino.
Score from 751 reviews Wonderful
Next to Santander’s famous Sardinero Beach, this modern hotel offers wonderful views of the Cantabrian Sea. Free Wi-Fi, a minibar and satellite TV are included in each stylish room.
Score from 840 reviews Very good
Set in a former movie theater, this hotel has a unique façade and is located 650 ft from the Fine Arts Museum in Santander. It offers free Wi-Fi and a bar-cafe.
Score from 732 reviews Very good
Wonderful city, lovely people, shops and a tapas bar near the main post office to die for. I had huge gin and tonics, belota ham croquettes and service fit for a king.¬¬
This is a top quality hotel slightly outside the centre of Santander. The bar has the best gin-and-tonics we have ever had! Beds and rooms are of very good size.
This is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed in this wonderful hotel we always have a room with the sea view and this never changes and makes it worth it. However it is quite old and is starting to need a little updating. The bathroom has cracks in tiles discolouuing in corners and looks sad and outdated. Also the standard of the toiletries is not what it was. A good look at the room is needed old (not antique) furntiture and soft furnishings generally a bit tired. Breakfast now very different from our 1st visit - very little cooked and what there was was cold being put out on plates not in warmers, quite disappointing as this is always one of our treats. :
style of hotel Restaurant with superb food
Unfriendly bar staff, also when ordered a second drink of beer, I was not presented with a clean glass. Rather in-attentive In general. However reception staff were superb.
We like the quality of the building, decor and staff, though some of the fittings need an upgrade. The Hotel has charm and class and the ,most amazing views. Its history and lists of famous guests make interesting reading. We enjoyed the book of its history in each guest room.
The sanitary furniture really needs upgrading.I noticed that most of this was ROCA and the modern items now in most Paradores are by GALA and of excellent quality.
Good value for money
The room is large, clean and comfortable. It had a view of the sea.
Because of the dog, we were seriously prohibited to go to the bar and restaurant. We were made to sign when we checked in. There were neither bars nor restaurants near the hotel. So, we ordered the room service. They were too expensive and terrible!! They were all canned food. In this travel of the spain we had expected, this room service of this hotel was only one regret. We don't want to stay at this hotel.
The location was good as a short drive to ferry port. Also free carparking. Would recomemend this hotel and wiuld stay there again.
Staff were excellent. Location was good. Hotel was dog friendly
Hotel superb - everthing a 'grand hotel' should be. Franklyn Hall, Truro UK
Lovely comfortable hotel which has been modernised but retained many of its old features and charm.
The price for using the pool.
All of it
poor condition of bedrooms, maid service was to make the bed but not to clean the room. Spar is a separate business not part of the hotel. no swimming pool or other leisure falicities
This hotel looks impressive on arrival.
The reception staff were quite surly on arrival and we were offered no help with our luggage....not what you expect from a 5 star hotel
Lovely old style hotel that has moved with the times. Very elegant building in a prime position over looking the bay. Very quiet, lovely public rooms and terraces with excellent attentive and polite staff. Dinner and breakfast were of a high standard with helpful staff. Highly recommended.
Beautiful terrace, excellent service. Excellent room, good facilities.
Parking difficult at times.
The view from our room was absolutely stunning. The beds were comfortable. Staff in reception and porters are lovely.
There were not enough staff working in the bar/terrace in the afternoons and therefore service was very slow. The hotel badly needs a refurb. I like "old world" but this is becoming a bridge too far!
The breathtaking views alone make it worth visiting this hotel. The Real was built to accommodate visitors to the royal family when they were summering in Santander. And it retains that feel. Most of the guests are elegant, well-to-do Spaniards. The hotel has been renovated but retains a very conservative feel, which is part of its charm although it some Americans may find it stuffy. Restaurants are not walking distance but are an easy five-minute taxi ride away.
The service was not as polished as some of the other places we stayed in the region. The "spa" is overhyped and disappointing. It is absurd that you have to pay 40 euros to use what is essentially a large whirlpool in a humid, stuffy room. It is not a swimming pool, which it is marketed as. The gym is terrible: hot, dirty and barely equipped.
Short journey from ferry. Useful for evening arrival
20 mins walk into town for nearest restaurants, but taxis easy to obtain
The room view, the restaurant service, the wonderful interior decor
The papillote dish in the restaurant. the dish was served in a plastic wrap!
The building , the view, the old lift ,so quit and special and the hotel was very elegant . Lovely x
Breakfast not included , have to pay to use swimming pool , shame
Nice hotel which took you back to a bygone age. Ambience and food excellent.
Beds were far too small for a 5* hotel. Room on occasion was not cleaned properly.
Great hotel, views from the room and balcony, spacious and good value.
Wifi signal was too weak to function at all. Bar area was a bit for evenings when you cannot go out onto the terrace.
Considerate and knowledgeable staff made for a wonderful dinning experience. Excellent stay.
Santander is a wonderful place to visit. Its a true European city, different to other cities in Spain, but still majestic. If there is a way to see Santander its from the hotel Real. Wonderful views and sundowners, staff with impeccable manners out to cater for your every need, wonderful rooms, extremely comfortable beds and an amazing Thalasso spa. Its name is so befitting it, you can almost feel the Spanish "royalty" throughout.
1. Wifi was extremely poor 2. The bar food is overly expensive and is not very good (a lot of microwave food) 3. Breakfasts are too expensive
