The staff were without exception: friendly, efficient and very helpful. They have a very positive 'can do' attitude and give you the feeling that you are the only guest in the hotel. The breakfast room is small but bright and well run. The location is unbeatable for exploring the old quarter of Salamanca.

I usually don't respond to requests to rate hotels that I've booked, but the Rector was outstanding. My favorite hotel that I stayed in during my most recent 4 week trip to Europe and one of my favorites of all time.

The attitude of the staff. The service was outstanding; nothing was too much trouble. They were most helpful and made the relative expensive bed and breakfast feel worth it. We will definitely stay there again. The only disappointment was that they didn't have a restaurant. If they did it would have been exceptional like all the other services and help provided.

The staff were absolutely delightful and were indulgent of my terrible attempts to converse in Spanish. The room was beautifully appointed, the temperature was perfect and despite being close to a busy road it was very quiet.

Staff excellent, courteous and personal in attention. Elegant design, quiet, calm atmosphere. Breakfast very good. Bed very comfortable and bed linen very good. Small details annoying when paying such a lot: like no mirror in the large bedroom, not at the table which was the obvious place to do make- up no long mirror to check clothes. The bathroom had no extractor so mirror there steamed up after shower. No hand shower so had to use cap if didn't want hair to get wet mirror. No hooks on backs of doors. Location not ideal - across a busy road from the old city.Website didn't make it clear that the hotel was not within the city walls.

This is without doubt one of the best hotels, of its type, in Europe. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the personal attention on offer is way ahead of other hotels we visited on this, and previous trips to Spain. The rooms are very clean, wonderfully well designed and equipped and double glazing works well in keeping traffic noise to a minimum. The quality of sheets and pillow cases makes a perfect night's sleep a certainty! The offer to assist us make a dinner reservation on an extremely busy Saturday night was much appreciated. Breakfast is a highlight of one's stay, with a wonderful selection of perfectly presented choices in a stylish dining room. Tt we only stayed one night this time. In future we will extend our stay.

This hotel was beautifully presented and the staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The room was luxurious, very comfortable and kept immaculate. The breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was well positioned to see the sights of salamanca. There was nothing to dislike about this hotel which was outstanding

This was a return visit for us. The hotel is like an oasis - situated right on the edge of the old town but so quiet. The decor is beautiful, rooms spacious and spotlessly clean Staff are very welcoming and helpful We will be going back a third time.

Hotel Rector is a jewel! A great hotel within walking distance of the main plaza. From the outside, you might not think it was so great. But, once you walk down the steps and enter this fabulous hotel you will feel like you are in a charming hotel. In addition, the people running the hotel are most helpful. Everyday the lovely Sylvia greeted us with a nice, genuine smile and helped us locate where we needed to go. I would highly recommend this hotel anytime you stay in Salamanca.

Attentive and helpful staff - speak several languages. Attention to small detail, and all very comfortable with understated luxury. Nothing not to like! Although the bar was a bit underwhelming.

Simply perfect. Enormous feeling for every detail. It's expensive but that's the only way to maintain the quality and the business approach too. Great value for money.

Heel vriendelijke ontvangst. Onmiddellijk informatie over de stad, restaurantjes enz. De ontbijtzaal is vrij klein zodat men soms moet wachten om een tafeltje vrij te hebben.

“The hotel is a beautifully converted old monastery so has a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere, fantastic views of the old town of Salamanca and large, comfortable rooms. Its location is perfect for strolling round the old town where there are lots of lovely places to eat. There is a restaurant in the hotel which looked great but was closed for a private function so we didn't get the pleasure of eating there. ” Hazel, Sawbridgeworth |
