Barcelona Apartment Republica    

The apartment was very contemporary and so was the rest of the building. The rooftop pool and sun bathing area had gorgeous views. We had our beds made everyday and bins emptied everyday which was very convenient. Half way through the week that we spent there, we also had 'deep cleaning' which we appreciated too. The fact that there was wifi was an extra bonus.

There was only one English Channel on the TV and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable and a loud screeching noise would come out of it from the tiniest move you would make. This was very annoying and did not expect it from such an apartment hotel. Also would have been good if the floors were cleaned everyday too rather than just once.

I must admit after reading some reviews after I had actually booked the apartment some trepidation started to feel me. Thank god there was no need. Overall I can find hardly anything to complain about my experiance staying at these modern, New York style loft apartments. One thing I will say is that they will be better suited to groups of friends than those with younger families. Even before arrival we were arranged a taxi that picked us up from the airport and took us to where we were staying (about 20 minute drive - 55 Euros, which I thought between 5 of us was very reasonable) We were greated by the receptionist (Blanka) who I can't praise enough. She offered straight away to book our taxi home the following week and also explained everything that needed to be explained (emergency contacts). Throughout the rest of the stay she also gave us great advice on locations to visit and on how to get there. We stayed in apartment B1. Which had two bathrooms, a well stocked kitchen full of all your day to day utensils and plenty of space for 5 25 to 30 year old males could want for the week. The location is not central but I knew that before I booked (to moan about that is ridiculous. People that have on here really should have investigated properly), but this should not be seen as a negative. The beach front is literally a 15 minute walk (20 minutes tops). Along the beach it is heaving with bars and restuarants. You are also 2 minutes walk from the Llacuna Metro station and a supermarket. So yes although you are not central you can easily get central via the Metro or the hundreds of taxis that are at your avaliabilty for reasonable prices. We went over for the Primavera festival and cabbed it there and back all the time. It wasn't what I would call expensive by England tazi prices. Now onto the negatives and this is me being really picky - *It can get cold in the evening and all you are supplied with are bed sheets. So if you want a nice thick quilt don't stay here. It didn't concern me, but is worth pointing out. *One of the showers did leak quite a bit after used. You had to wait about a minute and a half for the water to drain before leaving the cubicle, but again this was a slight annoyance rather than something that would stop me booking again). *Those that want someone on reception 24/7, again this is not the place for you. Sometimes reception was unattended and apart from the emergency number you have no one to contact. Luckily we didn't anyone and were capable of looking after ourselves, but it is something to keep in mind if you are looking to book here. *The Wifi was tempramental...but your on holiday, so it doesn't hurt to be cut off from the Internet for a week.

as a group of architecture students, we love the chic design of the loft. it was very very comfortable, i will definitely go back to the same hotel if I ever drop by Barcelona again!

the drainage system in the kitchen and bathroom was very slow, but bearable. wanted to swim, but the swimming pool was very dirty.

No English news channel or major entertainment channel in English. For the facility it offers, the room rate was rather expensive. I don't know whether the WMC event was contributory.

Not much I'm afraid, it looked clean inside. it looked modern, but don't expect the "spacious and bright designer" loft shown on their website. perhaps some of the ones on the upper floors are, I wouldn't know as I couldn't get away quick enough.

The check-in instructions are wrong, I also had to travel across the city for no reason. I could not fit my car into 1 of the 4 small spaces unless I had got out first and pushed it in. The underground carpark entrance is not kind to the bottom of sports cars. Care has been taken not to show the outside in the pictures, but its in a commercial area. Just odd If you are considering suicide, this is the place for you, our room was on the ground floor, which had a view of a brick wall, it was dull and depressing. By this time I'd had enough and we didn't stay, La Republica refused to provide a full refund and said that booking.com would cover the difference, that's just nonsense. My credit card company is refuting the payment with their bank. Not as described is an understatement. BTW, this is the only negative review I have provided to date, and we stayed in 9 hotels on this trip Spain & France

Trendy loft style interior, good set of kitchen appl (only coffee machine is not provided) and washing machine. Metro station Llacuna is 2 minutes walk (drives to the city center in 10 minutes). Calm street a bit sleepy at evenings, beach is 5 passages walk (about 15 minutes). Staff is friendly and helpfull. Large shain supermarket with fresh fish Mercadona is 15 minutes walk.

If you do not exactly seek for a place in a crowded walking passage with cafes under your balcony, then this is the right one.

Excellent staff: friendly, helpful, good humored. The apartments interior design is intelligently modern, the location's great, close to the beach and only a few hundred meters from the underground station. The small swimming pool on the roof terrace a nice surprise.

Cleanliness of rooms & the space was very nice

Wifi didnt work staff couldnt fix had to wait until the morning, the extra bed was a sofa bed which was very uncomfortable and the location was in the middle of nowhere the only redeeming factor was the tube stop very close. Oh and the breakfast was really good.

I found the staff was very friendly, hospitable and helpful. The hotel was 5 minuint drive from the shopping centre and the beaches which I found was very convenient. The hotel is a new built and it featured most of the latest mode cons. I would rate the hotel 5 out of 5.

There are several potential in this Hotel but the manager is not able to let them run !!! It is a pity !!! Peccato !!! il posto ha potenzialità ma qui va tutto in malora !!

The water in all the Hotel was closed because of work on the road ...Can you immagine to wake up after a night in BCN and do not have water !!! No shower? no WC ??? There are work there since 2 years ago !!! Again ... Internet didn't work, 3 days on 4...quite never !!! Thay said becouse of the work on the road .... They ask all the money before.... you can understand why !!! Una esperienza drammatica, a causa dei lavori sulla strada che vanno avantio da due anni tutto va a rotoli !!! senza acqua !!! Senza Internet... Si è rotta la macchinetta per fare le chiavi e tutto il sistema informatico !!! . Peccato che il manager non faccia nulla... Lo staff è gentile quando c'è perchè in effetti c'è solo nelle ora quando normalmente si è fuori dall'hotel, no la sera , no il mattino presto !!!! Lo staff ci ha offerto di tornare a fare la doccia quando l'acqua tornava... ma non hanno restituito i soldi della camera nemmeno quando non funzionava nulla.

Stayed in an executive apartment for the bed configuration and extra space. The modern loft apartment style room (complete with remote control blinds) was fantastic. Even the sofa bed was comfy, and i'm 6ft 2"! Well equipped, though an oven would have been nice to throw a pizza in for the kids. Despite the statement on your website about times/locations for key collection, the reception was manned from 9am til 10pm The rooftop pool and terrace offered a great spot to relax and take in a view of Sagrada Familia and the hills Only a 2 minute walk to a couple of mini-supermarkets and the Metro stop, and a 15-20 minute walk to the beach. if you're looking for a bit of boutique luxury at a fraction of the price it would cost to stay in similar accommodation in the very heart of Barcelona (and don't mind a bit of walking/public transport), then you'd struggle to find better than this.

Although the location is close enough to the beach for me, and only yards from the Metro (which is only 4 stops from La Ramblas), the apartment is a little isolated. It's in an industrial area, albeit very quiet and safe day and night

The staff of the hotel is very patient and helpful. The location is good - close to Metro Line 4 and also not far away from City Tour Bus stop.

The studio I got is in a half-basement floor. It was not mentioned in the hotel confirmation. Because living in this floor, there are some noises which we guess from the passing of metro.

I liked the location & the staff friendly & helpful at reception. The sleeping arrangements are good for a family although they are open plan. The self catering equipment is quite good also. I would definitely return to Derby Republica as the if visiting Barcelona with a group or family.

Booking .com states on Saturday on arrival must collect keys at La Balmes Hotel accross the city when we could have walked from our arrival point from Girona to Derby Republica rather than spending €50 on taxi & Metro. When you come out of the Lcunea Metro stop a small supermarket is numbered 121 Pujades. With no english speaking people around it was difficult to find the Derby Repuclica. After 30-40 minutes searching the streets it turns out that the apartments are at 97 Pujades although numbered 120-121. Danny at reception guided us to the front door by telephone & everything was good after arrival.. The cooking hob is an induction type and requires a pot on it to work. We tried an expresso pot to no avail ( someone had left it behind). So we did not utilise the facilities fully.

Not good, not bed. For youth.

Loved the modern design of the building and the apartments themselves. The apartments are very well equipped, using old industrial things as furniture for example lockers as wardrobes to keep it in theme with the regenerated industrial area of Barcelona

Indretningen er god. Og så var der vaskemaskine, opvaskemaskine, fryser, hårtørrer, strygejern mm. som ikke var forventet

Vi bestilte en taxa til lufthavnen via receptionisten, som hævdede at hun mere eller mindre kendte alle chaufførerne. Denne chauffør var imidlertid en skurk som forlangte overpris og ikke ville kendes ved taxameteret. Det forventer man ikke!

Le style design, la présence d'une cuisine permettant de manger sur place, la proximité du métro.

L'immeuble n'est pas suffisament insonorisé et on entend beaucoup les bruits de la rue. Le sol ne semblait pas avoir été correctement nettoyé.
