Very communicative and kind host. Place was warm. There was a microwave outside of the room. The restaurant associated with the spot was REALLY good value. And the oranges in the backyard were delicious. We were there in January, so we didn't get to take advantage of the backyard, but I imagine it's awesome and adds to the value of the stay.

It was very challenging to get there, because of the narrow streets, but it was worth it, and even more. The host couple went out of their way to satisfy us. The rooms are large and the facilities matched our needs and even more. The apartment offers several sitting and resting areas, a pool and a bookcase. The distance to Granada is fair, and since we arrived in the early evening, we had time to go to the city, have dinner at a restaurant and return at a reasonable hour before midnight. The main attraction were the picturesque view of the Sierra Nevada from the wonderful roof, and the varied, full and satisfying breakfast, which evidently took a lot of work and personal attention. Too bad we only came for one night. We could have stayed and hear the stories of the owners of the house for a few more days.
Located on Padul, just south of Granada, the El Padul rural guest house is just 40 minutes’ drive from the Sierra Nevada ski slopes. The café-bar offers characteristic Granadan dishes.

We stayed 2 nights in a room with views of the mountains from the balcony. The lovely owner and great staff did everything to make it a wonderful stay. Great location for walks in Padul and bus to Granada. Vegans and vegetarians can eat here Tostada con tomate and good pizzas!
Excellent location for exploring the mountains. Since I was last here in November last year the signage for the walking trails has been greatly improved. Durcal has all you need from a small town, several banks, chemists, supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants etc. good bus service.

Described on some sites as a village, Durcal is a lively little town with several of everything; banks, shopping centres, bars, resturants etc. Prices compare very favourably against prices in cities like Granada or esp Malaga. Ideally situated at the bottom of the Sierra Mountains so well recommended to hikers but beware, the trails are very badly signposted and of course Google maps will not work in the mountains. Both days I went walking I got lost and failed to reach my destination. Overall a wonderful place to visit and I will be back pronto. Final point, don't trust the buses! I missed my original flight home because the Durcal-Granada bus was 50 mins late arriving in Granada and then every single ticket machine was out of order and the queue to the cash office was too long. You can't pay on the bus with either cash or card and your predicament simply receives a shrug of the bus drivers shoulders.
