I was a foot traveller, and reaching the Hotel Restaurante Prau Riu involved a lovely walk of about 1km from the station/town centre (no problem), and then negotiating a motorway junction with no pedestrian lanes - unpleasant and slightly perilous. This wouldn't affect a car driver, and would not deter me from staying again, although it's a nasty five minutes!
Most of all I liked Manuel, the owner and factotum. He willingly prepared food to my liking, not limited to any pre-set menu.
The setting is fabulous. My room (and most rooms) looked out over the terrace and garden with the Picos de Europa behind. In the garden are chickens, ducks and geese. I was welcomed to roam and watch the birds being fed.
At night, I could sleep with the double doors wide open, enjoying the cool air, the sounds of the country at night and perfect peace. Just lovely!
