Set in a tastefully restored XVIII century house, this charming hotel is situated 15 m. away from Santiago Cathedral. The hotel exhibits several paintings from Viola, José María Sicilia, Juan Genovés, Julio Romero de Torres, Antoni Tàpies, Joan miro, etc.

The building consists of a ground floor and four other floors, all of which are joined by a skylight that has remained an important part of the original construction, although it has been renovated and modernised. Thank to this feature, the entire hotel in illuminated.
During your stay, you can visit our galley where you can admire marvellous pieces of art from artists such as Joan Miró, Chillida, Viola, Tapies, Camilo Otero, Laxeiro, Ana Díaz, Leopoldo Novoa, Antonio Mir, Saura, Lucio Muñoz, Barreiro, Tofol Sastre, Jorge Castillo , J.M. Sicilia, Itziar Izquieta, Nebreda y Tino Brandío.

The hotel has a total of 14 rooms, distributed over 3 floors and all rooms have a complete bathroom, minibar, telephone, internet access, safe, plasma television, CD and DVD player and air conditioning.

Area information

The hotel is located at the beginning of Rua del Villar, a street that connects to the unique romantic door that has been preserved at the Cathedral. Rua del Villar has been mentioned in medieval books as “Valle Milvorum o Vilare Milvorum. Back to its origin, it was the name given to a small village situated near to the place where people met, and later on it became one of the important start points for populating the famous monument area of Compostelana. The growth of Santiago de Compostela as a major city, is directly linked to the discovery of an Apostole tumb back in the Ninth Century (between 820 – 830) under the reign of Alfonso II.
There is strong evidence of the existence of three major villages or hamlets during the Ninth Century: Campo (presently Plaza de Cervantes), the old group of Lovio and Vilar, in which street you will find the Rua Villar Hotel. It is a fact that to the end of the Ninth Century, the first Ourives shops were setting up in Rua Vilar, very popular among the high class pilgrims and rich businessmen, which were increasingly visiting Santiago.
As time past, the Rua del Villar had consolidated as an accommodation for high class people (city people) and house the Town Council.

sehr gediegenes, wunderbar restauriertes Hotel in unmittelbarer Nähe der Kathedrale.Habe die Sauberkeit und Korrektheit genossen nach 14 Tagen Golfreise.Im Februar 2007 war ich bereits Gast des Hauses.Für einen Kurztrip nach Santiago ist das Hotel ein "Muss", um dem jungen pulsierenden Leben der Altstadt nah zu sein.
