Score from 1561 reviews Excellent
Right in the old town
Nice personell working in the hotel
The pillows where terrible
very modern and clean
waiter was a bit miserable when attending breakfast.
Close to everything, clean and comfortable
Central location, comfortable rooms at reasonable prices.
Wi Fi was poor, La Ramblas as a surrounding environment was not good for quality food at reasonable prices and the usual spanish quality.
Location was fantastic - halfway down Las Ramblas but on a side street therefore nice and quiet. Got a lovely room (227) overlooking the small square at front. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.
I can't think of anything we didn't like about this hotel.
Location and the restaurant beside the hotel offered very good prices for your meal and the food was excellent.
The staff. Most spoke no English and the few spoke a few words. During the entire time we were there, we never saw a smile nor felt welcomed The breakfast staff were close to hostile in their duties and looked angry at everybody who came in to eat. Orange juice was coloured water. No fruit. We were promised one of their best rooms after a mix up with the booking and only received another standard room even after I complained. No extra pillows and the mattress was on an army medal frame that you thought you were going to fall off of. The toiletries that were listed in their description were a joke. A comb, a very small shampoo/body wash and a piece of soap that was used in motels 40 years ago. Much as I liked the location, I would never go back there and would definitely never recommend it. The entire staff should be let go as they would never be able to muster a smile even after extensive training and the word welcome would never be found in their vocabulary. The location keeps this hotel from being a -10 minus listing.
Location, beautiful lobby
Rude staff (unpolite, unfriendly and unwelcoming), bad smell (mold) in the room, worn-out room with visible dirt, breakfast was average but contained nothing fresh, the pillow was uncomfortable (caused neck pain), the plaza in front of the lobby was unatractive and dark (homeless people in the corners)
Breakfast, considering that this is Spain there was no fresh orange juice, no fresh coffee and no fruit available. The choices on the buffet were boring, no thought had been put into the selection.
no fresh fruit for breakfast
The hotel is right beside Los ramblas yet in a nice quiet area. The room was very clean and bed very comfy.
Very central for La Rambla , a street with lots of shops, restaurants, market and other attractions. The room we had was spacious, clean and adequate for our needs. No fridge or coffee making facilities. Pleasant staff. Enjoyed our stay.
Lack of coffee making facilities.
we had a room with a balcony overlooking the square. Room was excellant
didn't have any coffee machine in room.
fantastic location breakfast
not enough shampoo??? not shawer cap!!!
Everything.... Luis on reception was very courteous, welcoming and a fount of knowledge on all things Barcelona!
Cleaniness & location
Bed somewhat hard resulting in uncomfortable sleep
An excellent position, very near the Ramblas but usually quiet, a good breakfast, clean, plenty of hot water, and very helpful staff.
Location is excellent and very central. The staff were attentive when needed but respected your privacy and were never full on. Breakfast was good quality with a good selection and very adequate to set you up for a busy day. Received room service every day and safe rental cost very cheap
There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room but there is a machine in main foyer and the hair dryer lacks power.
The location was excellent, a quiet plaza just a stones throw from La Rambla and all the sites of the old city. The two bars outside the hotel were an added bonus to call in for a cold drink after a busy day sight-seeing. The rooms were comfortable and very clean; the room servicing was also good. The bathroom was modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Lobby was proper. The hotel is close to a metro station, so one can easily get out of the area. The neighbouring church was great.
The square right outside the hotel is habited by loitering hippies, and the surrounding streets are full of "street workers", and then there are hordes of tourists on the Rambla. Basically not a Spaniard nor a Catalan in sight besides the hippies and the beggars on the square.
Our room was roomy and overlooked a square in front of the hotel. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very nice. Something for everyone. The location of the hotel worked very well for us. Centrally located to all the areas we wanted to see. We would stay there again.
The hotel is great, located in a wonderful square with a very nice tapas bar just below. Once you exit the hotel, you may appreciate a very nice Cathedral. La Rambla is just behind the corner (close to the open market), so the location is super. Wi-fi works pretty well (for those working..). Breakfast is good enough.
Of course do not expect a top level hotel, in this case you exactly get what you pay.
The location was perfect and the surroundings were beautiful
The air conditioning was extremely loud and the control on the wall didn't work, so I couldn't turn it off unless I asked them at the front desk to do so (not appealing at 12 at night!) and made sleeping difficult. The room was never completely dark - the spotlights by each bed glowed slightly even when off and the strip off lights on the balcony shone underneath the curtains, which again made it difficult to sleep. The WiFi was extremely poor - I just about managed to connect through my phone but the connection kept dropping out. I gave up trying to connect my laptop, which was extremely frustrating as I couldn't check my work emails. When I mentioned the poor connection to the man at the front desk, he told me that there couldn't be a problem because his chip and machine was connected to the wifi.
The breakfast was well done. The location was excellent. Very friendly staff.
Mildew in the bathroom that had overwhelming smell. Had to keep windows open to air out the room when I was in the room. It may have just been my particular room. I told the hotel about it.
The breakfast was brilliant. So much choice. Very central location. Ideal for sightseeing. Room was ready as soon as we arrived even though it was hours before the 2pm book in time.
