The hotel has no faults, very pleased with our choice.
Warning Plaça Reial, if you find a seat overlooking the majestic square it doesn't come without a price the area is full of peddlers and beggars. Roses for the lovely lady, flashing wizzy things thrown into the air, music you never ordered but expected to pay for after a short 3min blast, sun glasses, umbrella's, 'can I borrow a cigarette', you name it. Seriously, get a seat well back from the square, I am well travelled and I think we all know this is a feature of most cities and towns and to a degree you can expect being asked for money 4 - 5 times an hour, not here expect a different seller every 3-4min on average. After 1 hour we moved off and the experience prompted us never to return I think the authorities need to get it sorted.
We enjoyed a room on the top floor, no balcony but as an alternative and it seems all the top floor rooms are similarly designed to have an open-able large roof light built in to the rafters within the pitched roof. Positioned directly below, our table and two chairs allowed a really nice al fresco feel a bottle of vino tinto with views over the roof tops what more do you need. We enjoyed good weather for March (up to 25 degrees one day) so in mid summer with the window open I could imagine this being a very welcome addition even though the rooms had air conditioning. All in all perhaps a better room than a balcony as there was little if no street noise. Friendly and helpful staff, good choice of food for breakfast. There was a high standard of modernisation throughout but you still knew the building has it's origins as an old convent. There is a small out door terrace with 3x tables and chairs off the dining room / restaurant / bar which is decked out which is handy to use if you smoke.
A very nice centrally located hotel situated in a quiet back water street off La Rambla and the famous market nearby.
