The location is very good. It's close to the Catedral and the railway station and it's super quiet at night. The staff are all very warm and helpful.
The wifi goes on and off in my room. It would be better if the room looks cleaner.
The hostel is in an area that looks a bit scary at night due to all the graffiti in the surrounding streets, but I care to say it is safe! the night manager is so helpful and warm, always there to assist you with a smile. The place looks like an antique home, so beautiful walls covered with ceramic tiles and a fountain in the patio covered with plants. nice ambiance. Its in walking distance from the train station, about 20 min, and 10 min to the stop at the Christopher Columbus statue where you take the little bus (Van type) to the Majestic Alhambra!, at night you can take a 14 min walk and go to where all the bars are for dinner.
Beds are old, but didn't care much I was so tired and fell asleep soon.
It was good to walk by the romantic patio. You feel warmth of Granada.
I liked the old atmosphere of the place particularey the beautiful courtyard. There was a peaceful feeling and quiteness in the pension. I liked the friendliness of the staff in the reception however rooms were very hot at night which made it difficult to sleep it would be good to have a fan great value for money
The Pension was ideally located for an exploration of Granada. The inner gardens and general areas were traditional and very lovely. The rooms were basic and in need of decoration and refurbishment (but, hey! for €25, who can complain?
everything is just walking distance
The pension was close to the centre- about five minutes walk. The pension itself was delightful with attractive courtyards and corridors leading to bedrooms. We would definitely stay there again if visiting Granada.
The Central courtyard area was very pretty and traditional.
Location - we arrived in Granada by train and were able to walk to the pension. Fabulous old building! Lovely patios. Simple room but we did not spend much time there as there is so much to see and do in Granada. Ideal if you are looking for good value and convenience.
Nothing really - it met with our expectations.
The decoration in the lobby and surrounding areas, the location for being in the town center. Word of advice: eat at Cafetería Virgen del Triunfo, in Calle San Juan de Diós, 52; tasty food for a great price, for all meals - we only find it in our last day, unfortunately. Btw, if your visiting the Allhambra and the official site says there are no entrances, you can always walk there, enter by a side door and visit the common areas and the gardens. Next time, I will do that, instead of going at 7.30 to the line.
The room - at first sight it was a shock, too plain and old, but the sheet were clean and soft and the shower was amazing, at the right pressure and temperature; the location - it was hell to get there, specially the last corner before the street it is in, and also the parking, although they have their own, their hours were not convenient to us so we parked in Calle de Santa Bárbara.
Location is good, very nice courtyard, lift, fridge in the room (although not in a very good condition). I think it is a really good place to stay considering the price.
No renovation in a very long time, unpleasant smell in a bathroom from time to time. No wifi in my room.
Authenticity Mudéjar style in the pension
excellent value for money; facilities basic, but didn't expect much for the money, so all in, a fantastic place to stay. quiet, felt safe great value!
reception English not so good, but not a problem. The stairs with heavy luggage...not a serious problem...
A real surprise in a grubby neighbourhood. A real gem of a hotel with its interior patios full of flowers. We stayed an extra night. Very close to all the sights. Bus 3 or 33 from the bus station to the Gran Via and the hotel is right there. People in the hotel are great.
The man on reception was really nice and helpful and helped us cancel our second night no problem. Beautiful internal courtyard and quite busy at the Hostal.
I booked double bed and they only had twin left but didn't tell us or we would have xxld. WIFI not working properly in room. Bathroom could do with a good clean. Bed utterly uncomfortable so we left a day early.
The Hostal is good located and the building is very nice with its typical andalucian patios. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.
The rooms are very basic and unpleasant. Some mattresses were worn, can be a problem. Its ok when you look for a low budget accommodation.
Great location in old town. Very beautiful courtyards (almost as good as la Alhambra). Clean, spacious & comfortable room. Quiet street. Friendly, helpful staff.
If travelling by car, it can be very challenging to find the hotel & parking due to all of the narrow one way streets (may be OK if you have a GPS). As with many very old buildings, occasional unpleasant odours were coming from bathroom plumbing (was OK when we shut the bathroom door).
It is reasonably close to the San Jeronimo part of town, and maybe 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the buses to the Alhambra. The building's public spaces are interesting. The staff did their best but language was a problem; I speak little Spanish and the staff spoke about as much English.
There was no wifi in the rooms and the patio where it was available was very cold and drafty, and the signal wasn't always stable. I stayed five nights and never did get a change of towels. As well, the room smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke, as did the blankets. My room was very small and looked grimy. It was a long way to walk to places like Albaicin and other interesting sites.
Safe. Very nice staff. Charming hotel with a beautiful patio. Very central! Recommended!! :)
Cold room (February). We would have liked to get new towles during our stay. No cleaning of the room the last five days.
Location is not too bad. Staff was nice. Price. Bed sheets were clean but had a big hole in it.
Floors in room were unswept. Bed was very uncomfortable, felt the springs and was nowhere near flat. Room was generally unclean feeling and small. No soap or shampoo. I would not stay here again
Don't expect a warm room and get ready to freze in the winter. They don't function the heat system. It is not clean. The walls are thick enough but you hear any sound through the door.
Helpful staff,wonderful historical house,great location,quiet street.
We really loved our stay at San Joaquin, and would have definitely stayed longer if we could! The staff was very friendly and although they didn't speak English, they were helpful and very nice. The patio area is beautiful and a lot of effort has been put into this; we spent some time here to relax and have a hot drink before we went out to explore. The location is very good, although we did get lost a few times trying to find it on our way back because of the identical narrow streets! It is near the what I would call more laid back quarter with loads of halal food places and Moroccan/Algerian community- so if you're after halal food, this is a good location. It is equally as close to the centre and only a 15 minute walk to the entrance of the Alhambra Palace and very close to the Cathedral and Alcaiceria.
One thing I would recommend is to raise the heating temperature in the patio area and also the bedrooms since it was very cold as we stayed there in the winter.
Nice staff! even she can't speak english well but she tried to help us as much as she can. Nice atmosphere of hotel. the Location is walkable distance from both city center and train station.
wifi is available in some area but not my room area. The heater was not work well, thus, the room was too cold in winter seasons. Bathroom had some problem on water drainage. When we used bathtub, the waste water flew up from floor drain and made bathroom floor wet. No provided towels.
Location is perfect
Everything was good
