Decor and old world charm Staff unfriendly and unhelpful, as if they would rather not be there! Hotel not bad, but not of an international 5 star standard.

Location was excellent for a city break. Reception staff were very helpful. Balcony overlooking pool was good We booked a superior room and it was tiny. Noise from other rooms was very intrusive. Bar staff and pool bar staff very grumpy and not helpful at all. We did manage to find one young waiter in the terrace bar who was great. This does not qualify as a 5 star hotel in my opinion. Great restaurant just by the exit road of the hotel called Segundo Muelle,

The hotel is beautiful and its immediate surroundings as well; palm trees, a big park (also for local residents). The room was spacious and very clean, with comfortable beds and a nice powerful shower. The breakfast was absolutely perfect, everything is there, including fresh fruit and cooked breakfast. We were shocked by the uninterested and sometimes simply rude attitude of the reception personnel (especially the ladies). One lady hardly looked at us when we checked in, looked bored, tired and failed to tell us anything more than what our room number was (no info about the facilities, where the room for breakfast was or breakfast times). The word 'please' does not exist in their vocabulary, everything sounds like an order. They could better make the house keeping ladies in charge of the reception as they were very friendly and polite. Local and tourist information was only available in Spanish, as were the menus, which does not suit an international hotel. Only Spanish channels available on television or only news channels in English. Outside the premises of the hotel, there's not a lot. No nice restaurants or shops. Luckily the taxis are easy to find and not expensive.

Exquisite facade. The building is gorgeous. Old Spanish style. Not really a five star hotel, but still quite nice and luxurious. Spa and pool (outdoor and indoor). Good breakfast buffet. Car park free. Nice staff. I liked the garden/park in front of the hotel. Access to the spa and pool very poor! Very disapointing, My room (402) was very small and dark. Wifi signal a bit low. No movie channels on offer! Very few English speaking TV channels. To me this is no way a 5 star hotel. Maybe a 3 star hotel, but no more. Location a bit far from everywhere.

Very friendly staff, great breakfast. Indoor pool is really nice. Staff was very helpfull when we decided to leave early. We were looking for a tropical holday resort. The hotel is great( though the outdoor pool is rather small). But if you step out the hotel you have to cross a big road to the harbour. This has several restaurants, but were all pretty much deserted. The view of the harbour is not good. You see all the industrie stufff. So great hotel for a las palmas city trip, but if you want the tropical experience you have to go to the south of the island.

It is a luxury hotel in the old style. Queit and beautiful place, friendly and useful staff. A place to enjoy life. . The breakfast was good but not what you expect from a 5 stars hotel. The eggs were cold and there were no broiled eggs.

Welcoming lobby, bar, terrace, gardens, statuary, water features with croaking toads, comfortable sunbeds with armrests, friendly poolside bar, no noisy children, classy furniture in room and plenty of electricity sockets, bath perfect size for relaxing. Excellent breakfast. Proximity to Pueblo Canario and Museo Nestor, Canarian dancing and singing to highest standard. And to yacht harbour and fish restaurants. Useful bus route No 1 to Teatro, for Piazzoleta Cairasco, eating and drinking and people-watching, and Cultural Centre CICCO for Javier Vargas gig. Limited number of rooms with balconies facing south. Uncomfortable twin bed. Weak WiFi signal? No English speaking TV channel (eg Sky) available. Poor juice selection in mini-bar. Traditional tight bed-making - modern duvets are more comfortable. Upholstery for hard balcony chairs would be appreciated for comfort. Reception could be more proactive and friendly. Improved language skills would give better impression of courtesy. There seems to be room for development of more restaurant/cafe choice at close proximity to hotel - something to take up with local authorities? Guests are either confined to hotel or must walk a considerable distance and cross a busy main road.

Beautiful historic building in a wonderful park setting yet very close to the city, marina and beach. The public areas were elegant and comfortable. As our stay was short we didn't use the spa and the indoor pool which was a shame as it looked stunning. Our room was quite grand and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The drinks were expensive and although the hotel was very quiet during the day from 10pm until 5am the noise from a nighclub located just at the end of the park could be heard clearly even with the windows closed. Our room was located at the front and would imagine those at the rear of the hotel would not been affected. The windows were in keeping with this historic hotel but unfortunately were not at all sound proof.

Nice atmosphere. Good garage. City is boring. In our room there was Internet, but is was useless s-l-o-w. Michelin Recommended restaurant just average with fancy menu selections. Breakfast the same-same-same every morning, no vegetables.

Lovely old fashioned Victorian hotel in acres of palm trees and exotic gardens. Comfortable bedrooms with tv, balcony and bathroom/lavatory/bidet. Superb indoor and outdoor pools, friendly service. Reception very helpful. Location is superb, ten minutes' taxi ride from Las Canteras beach and restaurant area, or city shopping centre, or La Vagueta Old Town and Cathedral. Dining room stiff, stuffy, over priced. Breakfasts repetitive and unimaginative, morning staff surly. No mid price eating facilities. Tv in room local only, no Sky or English speaking news channel. Hotel is tired and needs some tlc and a bit of imagination. But the unique Empire /Raj atmosphere must be preserved at all costs! Lovely place.

The hotel has a romantic look. Nice park in front off the hotel. The breakfast was ok. Friendly personal. Old fashion look. The room and the bathroom was not so specious. Not at al a 5 star level. No place to put your suitcase, I had to put it on the floor. Very small bathroom. The air-co was not working. It was a little cold in the room. No double glass in the small window therefore at lot off noise coming from the next-door swimming-pool also at night. Very expensive for what you get.

Las Palmas is short of luxury hotels and the Santa Catalina was the best we could find. It is in a convenient spot midway between the new and old parts of the City. Good bar and restaurant. Spacious room. It looks tired and needs some investment. It would not have a 5 star rating if it was in Barcelona or Madrid.

Hotel location is great and building itself is representing Canarian style and tradition at best. Rooms differ a lot and this time I got small and no view room, so my room was not up the standard. Room quality and location differ too much

Wonderful stay except for rave next door on New Years Eve night all night. No sleep at all. Staff lovely though not a lot of english Would like to revisit again sometime Ideal to chill out Old style made you forget you were in a built up area Nothing tacky in any way apart from the noise that one night Would highly recommend it
