The project is infected by its neighbour, the Guggenheim's, activity and offers a space that contains a selection of furniture that represents the most emblematic design from the 20th century. The reading corner: Txokotranquilocorner
This is the space which best pays homage to the design of the 20th Century. A place that, far from looking like an exposition of objects of design, manages to establish a relaxing dialogue, filled with warmth, so that you can read or converse upon the grass calmly.

Terrace & Breakfast Room: Buenas Vistas Terrace
A large terrace paved with teakwood from where unusual views of the Guggenheim and the "Ría" can be taken in, and a covered zone by a copper-latticed canopy that shelters those wishing to shelter high up, allowing the appreciation of the geography of a place where modernisation doesn't prevent the natural countryside from strongly coming forth from where the urban landscape is interrupted.

Restaurant: Beltz the Black

The taste for the essential that expresses Beltz the Black's minimalist design is transmitted to the food, where the prime material is the character.

Cafeteria: Le Metropol

Its interior design is a homage to Bauhaus and the designers who stood out in the 20's of the 20th century. The crystallised closing turns into an open view of the urban street with the Guggenheim in full view.

Bar: Splash & Crash

Red and white characterises its interior. The colours evoke the passion and purity that were necessary to believe in the ideals that were forged in the 60's, the period that inspired its decoration. This is a place thought out so one can express themselves openly over a good drink, listening to good music and enjoying a good late night atmosphere.

Room information

The GHDB includes 135 rooms and 10 suites, spread over 5 floors in the building. A suite can be found on every floor and another 6 on the sixth with great views of the Guggenheim. Special care has been put into each room interior to have a personalised and distinguished detail from the rest. Its modern equipment that includes an interactive television, functionality and aesthetics are combined to keep a perfect balance.

Area information

Museums:
The hotel is strategically located in front of the Guggenheim Museum. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Maritime Museum are respectively 300m and 500m away.

Shops:
Five minutes from the hotel you will find the new Zubiarte shopping centre. And the best shops, national and international brands, are only three streets away.

Sightseeing:
Close to the hotel you can take the new tourist bus for a 1,5 hour panoramic, guided city tour.
Another option is a relaxing walk along Bilbao's estuary to the historic city centre, where you will find the Pasarela de Calatrava and the future Isozaki Towers.
If time is short, you can always take Bilbao's modern trams next to the Guggenheim Museum and enjoy some "pintxos" (Basque tapas) in the old part of the city.

great experience - terrace breakfast - outstanding in all ways

Food - vegetables need clearer explanation especially for overseas. Wireless broadband (for Macintosh/Apple) computers was nonexistent. My computer is the latest - 'Macair'.

Liked the location, the bathroom, the view of the Guggenheim.

Did not given the room I reserved until I complained. Asked for non-smoking room at time of booking, but found 3 ashtrays and a lighter in the room. Smoking is allowed in the hotel cafe and the bar even though Spain has a non-smoking law where the public space is greater than 100 sq. metres. There are non-smoking tables in the hotel cafe, but they're next to the smoking tables 1 meter away.

Jon, the dining room manager is to be commended for the extra time he spent with us recommending things to do and enjoy in the area. His attention to our table on New Year's Eve was also much appreciated and well received.

Easier access to computer and printer could be better.

Very good position. Very attractive, wonderful room and breakfast.

Quite dificult to find as Bilbao is not an easy city to navigate round - lots of one-way streets.

I did make a request for a lttle something to be placed in our room for when my husband and I arrived as it was his birthday. A lttle fruit or complimentry drink. Something to make the room a bit special. So I was a little disapointed.

Fantastic Location. Interesting decor -- felt like an extension of the Guggenheim. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

Could not order a la carte breakfast. Had to take full buffet or nothing. We just wanted coffee and toast.

This is a great hotel, lovely friendly staff, very comfortable, spacious, stylish bedroom, good cafe restaurant open all day for breakfast, lunch. dinner and snacks.

breakfast is very expensive, about 18euro for continental breakfast in great room overlooking Guggenheim, but too expensive just for juice, coffee and pastries. The ground floor Cafe was was an excellent substitute, no view but very good coffee and pastries for just a few euro
