Buffet meal could have been better; choice was excellent, but by putting too much food out at one time it was often not as hot as would like. Should improve system of topping up hot food / serving meats/ fish etc Charge for using safe in room should be abolished
Stayed here before, great location but i'm afraid due to complete disregard of "Special Requests" (is clicking a Double Bed in the drop down box really that special?) i won't be staying again. Please see "What i didn't like" for further dissatisfied ranting.
Further reinforced my conviction that a significant number of hotels simply ignore the special request box. Is the hotel trade the only one where you don't get what you ask for but they end up taking your money anyway? If you went into a shop, asked for something that they didn't have, you would simply walk away, here you don't get what you want but they take your money regardless. I asked for a ground floor room and a Double Bed. I got neither but they took my €430 anyway and you're stuck up in the mountains with no option but to just lump it. The lady said they only have "4 or 5" Double Beds, if that's the case there's not much point having a "Bed Preference" Drop Down box is there because out of 100 or so rooms the chances of you getting one must be pretty slim. I also asked for a ground floor room (much better outdoor space) but they gave us a middle floor room without any discussion or explanation. When i asked why i couldn't have a Ground Floor room they seemed surprised and said i could have one...which is what i'd asked for in the first place...but they obviously had completely ignored the "special request" box otherwise they's surely have given me one to start with and avoided me having to complain? Very poor management in my opinion. Very friendly and efficient otherwise but i'm afraid the die had been cast by then. If someone is paying over €110 a night is it too much to ask for a bit of customer service.... AND despite what it says on the booking.com website they DON'T take AMEX, so if you turn up with just that card, you're in trouble. Too much to ask to amend this?...apparently so.
Amazing breakfast, both variety and quality-wise. Nice views from the room, which was also big enough. Attentive personnel. Spa which is free to use.
The location is amazingly beautiful but one has to bear in mind that it's also rather isolated. However, when booking one must also be aware that this is not meant to be Maspalomas or Las Palmas, so fair enough.
Everything - location, rooms, pool and sun terrace, restaurant. BUT: be careful when choosing a room. In one part of the building is very loud central air condition. Some guests don`t care, but we would not take rooms 201-219.
Food. Not enough choices and over salted.
Fantastic view both from guestrooms and public areas. The buffet at euro 8 is a bargain! Good food, an abundance of fruit and vegetables (some from their own garden), fish & meat.
The spa has a good sauna, but that is really it. Some noise between rooms.
The peace and quiet was lovely and the views were amazing, even when the weather was not so good.
Shower basin was very small and made it difficult to turn round in without splashing water all over floor tiles which were very slippy when wet.
wellness good location quiet hotel very good value for money for half board
no wifi in the room
Excellent food, a lot of choice.
Excellent location with lots of walking opportunities.
Bed was squeaky
The hotel is situated in a lovely area for walking. The facilities are good, and the hotel has an atmosphere of peace and quiet.
The bedrooms are a little dated with some noise problems,(poor insulation) but this is not unusual in hotels, unfortunately , even in the expensive ones. The food can be variable but is mainly good quality.
The best part of staying in this hotel was the location, so good if you like walking. The hotel also provides free guided walks twice a week, we went on one of these and found it most enjoyable.
We opted for half board and the food was most dissapointing. It appeared as if it had been cooked hours in advance and was never really hot. The meat and fish never looked appetising and was served in very small portions. We decided to have lunch instead of dinner one day and discovered that it was not possible, we were told you had to pay for lunch. So if you choose half board it only means dinner and breakfast you can not switch to lunch instead, which is normal in other hotels.
The environment and ambience, clean air and silence. Food. Actually the Spa was relaxing thing (except ...).
The spa; all the devices did not work for example selection shower and the boxes of dressing-room. Warm water was almost boiling hot.
Hard to beat the location of this hotel other than its a bit of a steep trek down (and up!) to the town. Very comfortable, lovely room and when the weathers bad, which is was on the day we arrived they light a central fire thats ideal for gathering round. The dining rooms a bit big and impersonal but with pizza and bread ovens they've done their best to "rustic-it" up a bit. Great centre for trekking into the hills with some walks starting virtually from the hotel (as opposed to the town). Hard to complain about anything about this place. Could be cheaper?...but thats just so we could stay longer!
