This complex is located 2 km from the centre of Puerto de la Cruz and is surrounded by 3.5 acres of tropical gardens offering views of Mount Teide and the Orotava valley.

The Playacanaria Spa Hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and a mini-club for the kids. You will also be able to relax in the spa and wellness centre (surcharges apply) or in the naturist area, or unwind with a workout in the gym. During the evening, the family can take a meal together in the buffet restaurant, with show kitchens, before enjoying the evening entertainment programmes.

All guests booking half-board rates for a minimum of 5 nights between the 1 and 14 June, 24 and 29 August, and 13 and 30 October 2008 receive a complimentary upgrade to full board (drinks not included).

Hotel information

There is an outdoor themed pool with water slide and whirlpool and area for sunbathing. The hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to the centre of Puerto de la Cruz (except on Saturday afternoons and Sundays).

15000m² of tropical gardens where there is a musical garden, where each day you can enjoy the music of different composers while strolling amongst the plants or sitting in a corner enjoying the music, reading or simply relaxing.

For an additional daily supplement guests can opt for half board, full board or all inclusive. For more information on what the board types include or to reserve, please contact the hotel directly after booking.

Access for Acquaplaya is for over 18's except during special family hours: 10:00 to 11:30.

Food & beverage

The hotel’s own on-site buffet restaurant, El Drago, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and features show cooking.

The daily buffet breakfast features a wide selection of fresh produce. The lunch and dinner buffets consist of a variety of hot and cold dishes, including salads, appetisers, vegetables, meat and fish dishes.

The restaurant has a baby corner with complimentary facilities available for parents’ use. The baby corner has a microwave and a refrigerator for baby food.

The hotel also caters for Coeliacs, with a wide range of gluten and wheat-free products in association with COELIAC and FACE (the Spanish Federation of Associated Coeliacs). If you have special dietary needs and requirements, please contact the hotel prior to your arrival.

The opening hours of the restaurant do vary according to the season. Staff at reception can inform you of the current times that meals are available. Gentlemen must wear long trousers in the restaurant.

The hotel also boasts the Orotava saloon bar and the Teide cafeteria.

Room information

In addition to the listed facilities, all the rooms have a balcony or terrace, complete bathroom, satellite TV with more than 15 channels, ceiling fan and safety deposit box (extra).

Area information

Puerto de la Cruz, has a friendly feel which makes it is easy to join with the locals or enjoy the beaches in Playa Jardin or Santelmo. There are pleasant corners such as the church plazas, San Francisco and the Lagos.

You can take day trips for example to the islands capital Santa Cruz, crossing over the Anaga's moutains. Or to the Teide national park and Cañadas national park.

A jeep safari is a fantastic way to explore the islands interior. You can also visit the Loro Park, botanic gardens, the Tenerife palace.

Important information

One child up to 14 years old can share a double room with 2 adults or a single room with one adult free of charge. For those wishing to add a 2nd and 3rd child, please check the availability of family rooms. The children's discounts are determined to accreditation of age upon arrival (Identity document is required e.g. passport).

Nice pool, room with terrace and view to Teide vulcan, bus to city centre, meal, friendly staff in restaurant

The barmen in the bar, who spoke only Portugease and made any efforts to understand my order. We visited the bar once and get enough.

Worst attitude of hotel staff and hotel management we have ever seen! Started with the hotel reception being almost a floor up with stairs with no one to help you carry luagage and they call themself 4 start hotel. Then the room was suppose to be for 4 people, but we found a twin room to which they have staffed a convertable uncomfortable bed and a baby cot - leaving no room to move or to put luagage in the room. Instead of quickly changing the room set up or replacing a room - they have told us that if we want a bigger room we would have to pay 'only' 50% more than the booking rate.... We left the hotel!!! Don't get close!

Su ubicación, sus jardines , la atención recibiday las actividades para lo niños.

Sería bueno considerar servicio de bus del hotel para los fines de semana. Las obras han sido un incordio pero de eso el hotel no tenía l culpa.

Que finalmente pusieron cama de matrimonio y una individual para mi hijo.

El buffet era muy repetitivo. La zona nudista era muy pequeña y no tenia piscina.

La piscina era mucho más pequeña de lo que parecía en la foto. La variedad de comida no era muy extensa. Las habitaciones son ruidosas.

La calidad del personal y sus atenciones, también mencionar que nos gustó el Crazy Show (el espectáculo que disfrutamos el sábado por la noche)

No, ha estado todo genial, nos lo hemos pasado muy bien sobre todo nuestro hijo que se quedó encantado con las instalaciones y animación para su edad.

Es un hotel antiguo alejado de la playa y de otros servicios (cafeterias, tiendas, etc.) ocupado en estas fechas por gente mayor procedente de países europeos.
