Tijcal I is located just 20 meters from Plaza Mayor and in a pedestrian area. It is right in the city centre – close to Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral. Classified by many international tourist guides (guide du routard, lonely planet, let´s go, etc) as “the best Quality-Price relationship in its category”. Recently renovated. The staff will offer you a personalized service and a good command of different languages, making it easier for you to enjoy your stay.

Breakfast is available in your room whenever you want; simply order it at the front desk the night before.

The guesthouse's new restaurant is located just 3 blocks away and specialises in pizza, pasta and barbecued and charcoal-grilled foods. The restaurant’s menus also feature other Mediterranean dishes.

The restaurant’s opening times are available at the front desk. A soft drink, a beer or a glass of wine is given to all guests on the day of check-in. Guests also receive a 10% discount on all lunches and dinners in the restaurant.

Room information

All of the hostel’s rooms are comfortable and well-equipped and each room has a private bathroom. Air conditioning and safety deposit boxes are available at an additional cost. Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in all the rooms and throughout the hostel.

Area information

The hostel has a superb location, right in the very heart of Madrid. It is just 20 metres away from the city’s Plaza Mayor, in a pedestrian area. Puerta del Sol, one of the busiest and most well known places in Madrid, is just a couple of blocks away. Madrid’s world famous Gran Via and all of its shops and boutiques are only 5 minutes walk away. The Royal Palace, the Real Theatre and Almudena Cathedral are just a 10-minute stroll from the hostel.

The convenient, central location also means that the hostel is well served by public transport, making it easy for you to explore the whole of the city and the surrounding area. Sol Metro station is just 3 blocks away, offering fast, convenient access to Madrid’s underground train network.

The full cost of the booking must be paid on the day of check-in. A special discount of 5% is available for cash payment (this discount is not valid for optional additional services).

tiny room perfect for short stays, clean room and v. good staff

the pillow was quite uncomfortable and some strange noises through the window from 7 am. (some builders doing something at my window all the day)

aircon and beds, room fairly small

The internet did not work and guy on reception said this was because others were using it. Wrong answer, this will never effect strength of connection. He was actually a bit annoying with his flippancy and hotel lost 2 more nights from us simply because internet not up to scratch. Shame really.

It is litteraly right around the corner from everything you need in
Madrid, Great staff, seems more like a mini hotel than a hostel

It is really really hard to find, and a taxi cannot take you there,
because it is on a pedestrian street, but you willl get there
eventualy.... Also, the rooms are really small, but I was traveling with
alot of luggage and it wasn't a problem

Every member of the hotel staff knows at least 3 languages, which is
very convenient. The room was clean. Breakfast is a good value for
Spain. Just be aware that Spanish breakfasts are not what you might be
used to. The hotel's breakfast may seem small at first, but it's as big
as it gets for Spain. We looked for a decently priced, larger breakfast
elsewhere but could not find a cheaper place.

We were too cheap to spend 5 euro a night on air conditioning, so the
room got really hot.

Unbeatable Location

The air conditioner in our rrom was broken and we almost could not sleep the first night, however the next day they changed our room to a better one.

The Hostal was alright. It was clean and the staff was friendly

The bed was really hard and very uncomfortable. We ended up not using the pillow because it was so bad.
