We asked for a room with a view and that was just what we got. View over the harbour and the castle floodlit at night was incomparable. This must rate as our favorite hotel, location, choice of food and shopping all first class. We went to see the Volvo Round the World boats before they set off and we could watch all the action from our room and join in the fun just across the road.Fabulous!!

Nothing because for me is very poor hotel. It is not for 4 star but for one star. Shame on for 220 euro. The room have just beds and TV and toilets. I thought maybe from booking company i will finde good hotels but i will thinking next time if i will book from your company. If you choose some hotels as Gran Sol i never will booking again. We were for bussines in Alicante but the first stayed to Gran Sol very very bad. Again shame on.

The staff were nice enough. The room was very cheap. The room was very small, but adequate (apart from no coffee machine or toilet brush. But at the price you cannot complain.

The location was fabulous The room was smaller than expected (photos look larger) I am glad we got a deal on the price as I would have been disppointed if i had paid full price. I think the person who painted the room was in a hurry or not very good, but it made us smile!!

The continental breakfast was good, and the sheets and towels were changed everyday, the views were fantastic overlooking the harbour and it is in the centre of town. The time we went the hotel was undergoing refurbishment, so although the room had excellent with views etc the furniture etc looked tired as well as the corridors that were dark, once finished I hope the look is as good as the voyer and reception which was ultra modern, so a bit disapointed, and the lifts made a terrible noise going up and down so did keep us awake sometimes.

Location, right on the seafront, in city. The rooms, furnitures and ambience, except for the lobby, are totally outdated. Nothing has been done since February 23, 1963.

The location was very good....not too far from the airport (about 30 minutes by bus), close to the beach, close to the harbour and close to lots of bars and restaurants (all within walking distance). The bath towels were nice and big, and hand towels and a floor mat/towel were provided. The rooms are quite dated and the furniture was a little shabby, although the beds were comfortable and clean. There was a box of "items" in the bathroom, but they were not of much use......eg, shoe shine, comb, dental kit, shower cap, mini bar of soap for handwashing, etc. There was no shampoo or conditioner, which would have been of more use, but there was liquid handwash by the sink and by the bath. The toilet roll and hygeine bags were not replaced, so we ran out of both. There was no kettle/tea/coffee making facility although this is usually standard in most hotels these days, and is an appreciated necessity rather than a luxury! There was a small fridge/minibar, but the ice- making compartment was frozen solid and the door of the fridge did not close properly, so it was not very cold. We had breakfast once (because of a promotional offer), which was average (but would have been very over- priced had we not got "two for the price of one"). The restaurant on the top floor had a great view and looked nice enough at our quick glimpse, but my friend thought it smelled too unpleasant, so we did not eat there, and are therefore unable to comment on the food or service. Overall, the best thing about this hotel is the location - and the management clearly realise this and are possibly a bit lazy with updating the hotel because of it - but it should not be rated any higher than a 3-star until the rooms are refurbished a bit. It is definitely not 4-star standard, but was fine for the short break we had there. I'm not sure I would be happy with a week or more there though, based on the 4-star rating I was expecting! I would possibly stay there again simply because I know the location is good, but I would look at other options in the same area first if I went to that area again.

I stayed in this hotel many times and like it very much! The location is perfect: not far from the beach, very comfortable, the staff is very friendly and polite! The food is also nice! There is a beautiful place near the hotel- Esplanada with lots of palm trees! There are also lots of restaurants near the hotel and small caffes.

The view was excellent and the location was very central, The hotel is currently up-grading and the rooms look a little´tried and well worn, I think the breakfast menu could have a little more pizaz, although it was fresh and well presented.

I loved this hotel because it had a fab view and is right in the centre of things, we have stayed in a few other hotels in Alicante and this is by far the best. we had a good size bedroom with a separate sitting room and bathroom. the restaurant on the top floor has amazing views and the food was top notch and good value, the breakfast excellent also. I will definately stay here again. No complaints
