The Hotel Rural Matsa is a former wine press in the countryside just outside Bilbao. There is free Wi-Fi and free on site parking. The rooms are all individually decorated in a rural style.

This glamorous hotel is situated on Getxo’s elegant Paseo Zugazarte. Guest rooms have LCD TVs, terraces facing the sea, free Wi-Fi and décor inspired by the 1920s.

We stayed here last year day before ferry. NH hotel then. Is now URH. Could not see any difference in service or accommodation from last year. Room spacious and comfortable. Breakfast very good. Underground parking. Expensive but would not leave bike anywhere else in a Port. Lovely outdoor terrace to watch the port at night. It is an imposing building however you might miss it the way Santurci is set out.
The building is beautiful, easy to access from the motorway, breakfast and dinner were great value.
Staff often seem to be busy doing something else, floor plan is a maze, my room smelled of mold and I couldn't keep the window open because the place is an open park and there were always idle teenagers hanging out by my window, WIFI was a pain in the neck with reduced traffic limit, the connection would expire / be exceeded and I had to go to the reception for another password, re-boot my computer, etc. Most of all, it is not very convenient as a place from which to explore Bilbao. The city is an hour away (walk to station, wait for train, 20 to 30 minutes train ride to town) and because the trains and metro stop at 23:00, too early in Spain.
Facilities, comfort, value, secure parking. Modern and good quality facilities, and sizeable room. If you want to visit Bilbao and museums,it is in a convenient place for easy access via underground. Staff helpful.
Our room, even though nominally non-smoking, had clearly had smokers in it, so we would recommend avoiding the extension. In addition train noise can be irritating at times, depending on the traveller.
room spacious and clean
overlooking railway station noisy frieght train going through could not leave window open even a bit
Location, good local bars and restaurants
Room on lower floor with railway outside
Closeness to ferry (10 minutes). Staff very good and spoke English well. Comfortable bedroom. Secure car park
Air con not very good. Trains very noise. They make logging into wifi complicated and then cap usage fairly severely.
Very well planned facilities Excellent value for money meals Comfortable room
Persistent TV noise in the dining room Revolting coffee at breakfast
Rooms, Terace, Breakfast (standard NH Hotels format), Secure Parking, Proximity Ferry Port (10 minutes North drive through town)
Poor Air-Con, Rail Noise - When window open due to Poor Air-Con...
Good size room, secure parking, good restraunt, location with good views across the port.
Complicated poor WIFI
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The evening meal was very good value for money.
Our room was directly in line with the railway, which made it rather noisy. This was OK during the day, but we were awakened at 3am by the frequent train service.
From the front the building is impressive as is the lobby. The staff were reasonably friendly. Great location for ferry crossing.
The hotel actually sits UNDER the building, so you have to take a lift down. It is actually quite dark and certainly not as nice as the outside makes it seem. We were on the bottom (5th) floor. The entire floor and room stank of damp and the floor in the room was warped, again from what appears to be a severe damp problem throughout. Suggest requesting a room on a higher floor as these do not stink. There is also a train line directly behind the hotel although this didnt disturb us. Breakfast was average with stale bread. Surrounding area is very nice to walk around, but we found it unusually and infuriatingly hard to find any place to get a good meal nearby despite my wife being Spanish and the excellent culinary reputation of Bilbao! Disappointing!
Probably the most stylish and beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in. Try to get the room above the main entrance which has a wonderful terrace looking out onto the old hospital in front.
bed and bathroom.
We were offered an upgrade which was great value. Lovely breakfast. Staff helpful giving us directions to the ferry.
Car park a bit tight.
Helpful reception staff who spoke good English
Noise from trains
Large, comfortable room, safe parking, extremely attractive interior, staff very pleasant and helpful, good restaurant, competitive prices. Also very convenient for Brittany ferries.
Rather a pity that reception staff did not know the exact times of the meals nor when the associate gym was open.
Train station right outside 06.00 until midnight

Location of standard room (subterranean) Slow service in restaurant
Great location for ferry and lovely local town of Santurzi. Superb breakfasts in very comfy dining areas. Very helpful multilingual staff. We paid for secure parking because no on-street parking spaces were available.
Nothing to dislike for us!
Ease of parking on arrival. Personal touches eg personalised letter, complimentary bottles of water & chocolates in room. Close location to ferry port, directions in English provided at reception.
Train noises were unexpected.
Localization, staff approach, quality of food, perfect rooms
English knowledge - some staff
Rooms Breakfast Location for ferry
Lovely clean and comfortable room, with good views, The very secure underground parking. Excellent food. 15 minutes from the ferry service to the UK
The fairground with very loud music till midnight. Could not get to sleep for the noise - NOT the hotels fault at all. Apparently it is on for 1 week every year, only yards from the bedroom windows.
Close to ferry port for UK
Maybe it was the time of year but opposite the hotel was a fair with a number of rides playing very loud music (of sorts) until the early hours, thump thump thump!! just what you don't want following a long journey and up early the next day. I had requested a room with 2 beds but was given a double room, had to go back to reception and request a twin room as requested and in a quiet location due to the deafening noise. I was given an option of a twin room on the same floor, or pay extra for a superior room around the side not facing the fair ( cost an extra £11) I paid the extra with not much improvement, the pictures on the hotel page in Booking.com is a poor representation, it shows outside tables and seating on what looks like the hotel veranda, this turned out to be a public area with no facilities, frequented with a lot of young persons, broken glass and the smell of urine. The underground car park was ok for an extra cost of £12.50 however the direct access through to the hotel was easy to follow but all the doors were wedged open with mats etc., had there been a fire in the car park it would have spread directly into the main central lobby and staircase, with no fire door separation to the room we stayed in. Fire safety POOR. I shall be looking for another hotel next time be warned.
Beautiful hotel convenient for Bilbao port
Faulty air con room like a fridge swapped room but had to pay for up grade. Noise from a fair just out back till 1am
