Lovely calm atmosphere was a treat after a rather frantic few days. We were warmly greeted by Magdalena and John even though we arrived much later than planned and our messages had not got through to warn them. We had a very nice dinner and breakfast. The house is simply and tastefully decorated. We decorated. We did not get a chance to use the pool but it looked very inviting and the countryside was lovely in spite of the hot summer.

We very much enjoyed our short winter (January) stay in Vega de Salas. When we arrived, there was a toasty fire in the stove and a warm welcome from the multi-lingual Magdalena and John. They are lovely consciencious hosts, and have done up the old building beautifully, with very tasteful interior decor. They have clearly thought of everything a visitor might need. The breakfast was absolutely superb - I'm sure royalty dines less well - and the local pizzeria where we ate in the evening was good, friendly and cheap. The house is in a great location if you want a holiday somewhere peaceful and quiet. Sadly we weren't staying long, so we didn't have the chance to explore the area, but the countryside looked inviting for walks, and there's a lake nearby that could be nice for swimming in the warmer months. Vega de Salas is definitely somewhere we'd like to return to.

The house might be quite difficult to find unless you have a reasonable map. You need a car to visit Vega De Salas.
