A most beautifully renovated hotel in the centre of Burgos, less than 5 minutes walk from cathedral and plaza mayor. Many tapas bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Access by car is a challange bur is well worth it.

Location, charming property as it is housed in an old palace. Excellent value for money. The worst thing about the hotel is the fact that you cannot turn on the a/c in the winter. Both the central heating and ac are on separate systems. Our rooms was overheated - 26 degrees and there was no way to turn it down because all the heat was raising from the lower floors. This made our stay very uncomfortable - we could hardly sleep any of the 5 nights including our 3 yrd old. For this only reason alone I would think twice before staying here again. Unless the hotel can guarantee a cooler room. They need to fix the central heating/AC system as soon as possible.

Its location - historic and religious sites all within walking distance. Great choice of restaurants to eat in. The room - junior suite - was very comfortable. I thought the hotel was great. Some staff members were not too friendly nor service-oriented.

Access to hotel is via the big bull fountain on Ave del Cid Campeador - go to falling pillar and speak on call system (as pedestrianised no satnav). Central pedestrian area was great for strolling. Loved the night life and the Cathedral - one of the best I've seen anywhere. Good bars and restaurants (look for Favorit in next street and the bar on the corner nearest the Hotel )- great. Pichos (tapas) great. Impressed with the town and hotel handy to nip back for a siesta if needed. The night life is loud and late and it is amplified by the narrow streets. The double glazing on the rooms was excellent but once closed you are reliant on the air con for fresh air

Great location, in a calm street in the centre of town. A little tricky to get to by car because you think you are driving in pedestrian only streets. Friendly and efficient staff.

The duplex room was spacious and cleverly designed to be quiet, even though we were next to the lift. It was very central and within easy walkin distance of all the city sights and amenities - about 5 minutes walk to the cathedral and 2 minute to shops, bars and cafes. Staff on reception spoke good English. The hotel had its own car park which was expensive but convenient. For these reasons we would recommend the hotel, but ...... Although some staff were helpful, most seemed distracted and too busy. We stayed in many city centre hotels on our travels round Spain, many on pedestrianised roads but this was by far the most difficult one to locate. Don't use sat nav but follow the signs to Hotel Velada in the centre of the city. We asked the police the way and even they gave up trying to explain (using a map!) and escorted us to the hotel! The room was rather soul less and obviously set up for businessmen with spare shaving set and shampoo strongly smelling of pine.

We were very disappointed that that the restaurant was closed for dinner on Sundays - we were not made aware of this at the time of booking. otherwise the location and breakfast are good. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our overnight stay at the Hotel Velada. It was ideally positioned in the pedestrianised city centre, within 2 or 3 minutes walk of the fabulous Cathedral. Our Junior Suite was spacious on 2 levels and very comfortable. The underground carpark was especially appreciated being on site and secure. The only comment we would stress is that the access to the hotel is acquired knowledge. The pedestrian area is protected by bollards that are centrally controlled. To gain access you need to know that you have to approach the bollards and press a contact button and ask for access, which is freely given. Our gps was spot on getting us to the right entrance point, but when we saw the bollards assumed we could not get through. It was only after some abortive trips around the roads that I stopped and asked in another hotel how I could get to the Velada. That is when I found out about the way to access to pedestrian area!

the room was absolutely brilliant as we were travelling by motorcycle there was a good range of toiletries and the comfort was outstanding with great views of the city.the location was excellent and the staff were polite and helpful.we will definately stay at the hotel again. we had to pay 7.25 euros for car parking we didnt think this was fair especially as there was no local parking we believe this price doubles if you have a car.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable in every aspect. We booked a junior suite which was very spacious and tastefully decorated. Being an attic room however, meant there was limited natural daylight. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel was extremely difficult to access by road, due to it being in a pedestrianised zone. As we were completely unaware of the system we spent a long time travelling round in circles .Anyone with no command of the language would have even more difficulty. Both the entrance and the garage itself was very tight.

The extreme difficulty in locating the hotel, even with the assistance of a sat.nav. The hotel is in an area of no traffic with difficult access points. On finding the hotel on foot, poor instructions caused further delay in gaining access by car. It was resolved by local residents giving us instructions after which entrance to the restricted area was by contact with the hotel receptionist by phone who remotely lowered a raised vehicle obstruction.

The location was great, right in the old part of Burgos I drove to this hotel and it was very hard to find as the hotel is located in a restricted area of the town and the gps didn't show up properly. Also, didn't like the corridors of the hotel, it was old, dark and outdated.
