The location was fabulous and the hotel itself was very luxurious. Best not to arrive by car.

The location is absolutely perfect. The bathroom is large and has a great shower. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate although maybe a little expensive. The front desk staff could be rude at times. I was looking to buy stamps and was just told "No, no we do not have them" and was dismissed. Simple question didn't need to be rebuffed.

The waiter in the restaurant was extremely courteous, well mannered and professional , something which was a pleasant experience for us as normally Spanish waiters are surly and indifferent. The service in the open cafe part was rather poor.

we stayed as a family of 4 in 2 rooms over the christmas break. this palace hotel is located on the side of the cathedral in a beautiful pedestrian cobbled street. the hotel has a large central sunlit area where the restaurant is situated. we had an evening drink and tapas which were decent. the rooms are located over a large meandering hallways. despite the hotel being quite empty we were given rooms with no windows and therefore quite dark. the rooms are the usual european size. the tv was a small 22 inch size. the bathroom was well stocked. this is well situated hotel which i believe would be great though expenive over the summer.

This hotel has a great location and the staff were highly professional. It is also a beautiful historic hotel with lots of characters. If I return to Avila, I plan to stay here again and I highly recommend it to anyone going to Avila. I think you can skip the breakfast and eat elsewhere but we needed to eat early at 7:30am to get to our train and they started serving breakfast at 7:30am so that was good in a way. Taxi ride to and from the train station is 4-5 Euros each way. Nothing that I dislike at Palacio de los Velada.

The location was perfect and the staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was very disappointing for a hotel of this standard, being no more than barely adequate.

The room with the slopping roof was charming and quiet. It was spacious, clean, comfortable. The bathroom was very well equipped and with all the extras one would need. We did not feel the lack of view from the window was a drawback. We had brought our own travel kettle for coffee and tea to suit our own (perhaps irregular) rhythm of life. Located across the square from the Cathedral and the old city walls made it ideal. An excellent experience.

Location near city walls and cathedral was great. Dining room staff policies didn't make sense: one could only access wireless in the courtyard, but one was not allowed to bring one's breakfast out to the courtyard tables so one could work and eat at the same time. They should be flexible, as this is a luxury hotel and those of us who can afford one are often business people with busy lives. Not a welcoming space for a front lobby.

The room was very nice, good space, nice pair of armchairs with coffee table, desk; well appointed, beautiful bathroom. It was a ground floor room but behind a wall with a nice small garden, so very tranquil with the window open. The covered (indoor) courtyard sitting area was wonderful, beautiful architecture with a 3 story arched arcade, and the bar there offering excellent wines and food for the price with good service. My colleagues staying at other hotels were told to get coffee or a snack there and they were not disappointed. Breakfast room was also very pleasant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Desk staff all spoke english fairly well. Oh, and the location - absolutely fantastic walking out the door in into the plaza de cathedral. If you're going to pig out at the breakfast buffet then the price is fine (13 euros), but if you just want something light but different than the 5euro coffee & croissant, then you're out of luck. My room did not have a safe, but there were many warnings in the room's literature about not leaving valuables and putting them in the room safe. Also, if you want to leave a computer or phone charging when you go out or when you're sleeping, it is difficult to figure out how to get a live electric socket. This is because you need to have your key card in an electrical switch slot, and you need to have the entry lights on for most of the plugs to work. It would be nice if the plugs that can be used with lights off were labelled. But these are not major complaints, I really enjoyed my stay.

Excellent location. The hotel lived up to its "palacio" name with its fine decor. The room was comfortable and bathroom excellent. Pleasant and spacious bar area. In addition to the usual buffet breakfast, a 5 euro quick breakfast was available.

Lovely ambience as you walk in to the large courtyard. Good rooms with all one needs. Just to say that WiFi only available in reception area (not in bedrooms) and no safe in the room. .However the Reception staff kept our belongings in their safe, so it was OK.
