The location is great but the rooms are lacking. They need to be freshened up. We've been there many times before. The shiny bedspread.

Comfortable friendly hotel, wonderful location for major art galleries, livly restaurant area and huge park nearby. Good value for money Some rather odd modern art sculptures -coloured paper balls - looked a bit dated.

The hotel is in an excellent location for the Retiro Park, The Prado and Thyssen Museum. There are also some very good restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. As we were there in October, the weather was still beautiful and we were able to take advantage of their Terrace Bar, which is just in the Plaza, a very nice way to spend an hour or so. We stayed at the Villa Real in January this year in a standard double room which was lovely, each evening we received a turndown service and a little chocolate left on our pillow, a fresh rose in the room, clean sheets and clean towels everyday. This time we decided we would book a Duplex room as a real treat and so that we could enjoy sitting on our own terrace, when we arrived there were no outside chairs only a table on the terrace, they had all been removed, the terrace was also dirty, spilt earth from the planters. Reception were very good and said they would put some chairs out for us. We also only received a turndown service on our first night, clean towels and sheets had to be requested. Two of the rooms opposite were being refurbished which created alot of noise during the day and early evening. We would definitely stay at the Villa Real again, but would return to a standard double room, as we feel that is better value for money.

The private terrace It's so dated and old fashioned. My two-story suite was very impractical.

This place is a real find and it takes pets! Nothing to dislike and they have the nicest doorman in the world.... Indeed all the staff were just so lovely and welcoming... Also it has its own parking which is a God send in a city like Madrid. Location could not be better quiet but in the centre of everything ... just wonderful... Loved it. Nothing at all.... Well one small quibble.. Guests have use of 'fitness' facilities in the nearby Urban Hotel... But they are a joke a tiny room... Just could not work out there,...

Fantastic location, easy access in every way. Room safe is an antique, kept failing. So is the telephone system. This is basically an old hotel with a great location, needs upgrades.

General convenience for city sightseeing and eating out but in a reasonably quiet area with no late night disturbances. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The food was very expensive at all times of the day. Also internet access had to be bought in 24hr chunks and expensive, too much if you only wanted to book-in for your flight home.

It is a lovely hotel in the museum district. Although the outdoor cafe was lovely, there was no indoor restaurant to speak of other than the bar.

It was very central. There was a lot of construction going on in the hotel and it smelled like paint and there was noise early in the morning.

Location: w/in walking distance to El Prado and Thyssen museums; Atocha train station a short taxi ride. Quiet -- an amazing accomplishment considering the size of the city. Staff: attentive, knowledgeable, always helpful. Food: breakfast buffet was ample and food delicious. Patio drinking/dining/snacking: very pleasant environment. We found everything satisfactory or better.

“The hotel is in a great location only 100 meters from Sant anna Square. The rooms are modern and well equipped for your comfort. The overall hotel decor is excellent, with a nice outside area to relax! The price was very good considering the location and would have no hesitations in recommending! The only negative if any was no wi-fi within the rooms, although the room was equipped with plug in Internet, ” Gareth, Naas, Kildare |
