The private terrace It's so dated and old fashioned. My two-story suite was very impractical.

Location only I did not like the fact that it did not live up to the 5 Star Rating and it is definitely over priced.

The hotel staff were very efficient and friendly. Room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was expensive but well worth it. Walking distance to the three important museums and to the on-off tourist bus. Close to some restaurants.

It has an excellent and attractive location near The Prado, the train station, and the popular plazas. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very attractive, as are the rooms, and very clean. the breakfast is quite good and they were offering a discount on the price which made it most worthwhile. I would stay there again and would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid. There was absolutely nothing I did not like about Villa Real.

This hotel excels in its staff, I complimented the manager while I was there. Everyone without exception goes out of their way to be friendly, welcomng and helpful. The hotels location is great. Central but quiet. On site parking is a huge bonus as is the fact that they allow pets. I have returned to this hotel four times now so I suppose that says a lot. No free wifi.. I had travelled through France and Spain and every other hotel had it and some were only three star. This is a big minus that should be corrected, pronto! Other than that nothing save as to say the gym in the Urban Hotel which you can use is a joke, a waste of time so dont book the hotel on the basis of that facility.

An excellent location for guests wanting to visit the museums in Madrid city centre. Hotel services all worked well, with a quick response when the tv remote failed to work. Provided a free bottle of wine as a birthday present, a nice touch. My main complaint is the " Special Offer" of tv films/music and room Internet connection all packaged at a daily charge of €30.30! These days almost all hotel guests use their personal laptop free in hotel rooms. It is essential for business travellers. A daily rate of €30.30 is wildly inappropriate. You can queue at the one pc in the lobby for free access. Finally the coffee, at an otherwise excellent breakfast, was horrible. Stewed in a pot and lacking flavour. A 5+ hotel in Spain should be offering freshly ground coffee.

The hotel is in an excellent location for the Retiro Park, The Prado and Thyssen Museum. There are also some very good restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. As we were there in October, the weather was still beautiful and we were able to take advantage of their Terrace Bar, which is just in the Plaza, a very nice way to spend an hour or so. We stayed at the Villa Real in January this year in a standard double room which was lovely, each evening we received a turndown service and a little chocolate left on our pillow, a fresh rose in the room, clean sheets and clean towels everyday. This time we decided we would book a Duplex room as a real treat and so that we could enjoy sitting on our own terrace, when we arrived there were no outside chairs only a table on the terrace, they had all been removed, the terrace was also dirty, spilt earth from the planters. Reception were very good and said they would put some chairs out for us. We also only received a turndown service on our first night, clean towels and sheets had to be requested. Two of the rooms opposite were being refurbished which created alot of noise during the day and early evening. We would definitely stay at the Villa Real again, but would return to a standard double room, as we feel that is better value for money.

This place is a real find and it takes pets! Nothing to dislike and they have the nicest doorman in the world.... Indeed all the staff were just so lovely and welcoming... Also it has its own parking which is a God send in a city like Madrid. Location could not be better quiet but in the centre of everything ... just wonderful... Loved it. Nothing at all.... Well one small quibble.. Guests have use of 'fitness' facilities in the nearby Urban Hotel... But they are a joke a tiny room... Just could not work out there,...

Fantastic location, easy access in every way. Room safe is an antique, kept failing. So is the telephone system. This is basically an old hotel with a great location, needs upgrades.

General convenience for city sightseeing and eating out but in a reasonably quiet area with no late night disturbances. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The food was very expensive at all times of the day. Also internet access had to be bought in 24hr chunks and expensive, too much if you only wanted to book-in for your flight home.

It is a lovely hotel in the museum district. Although the outdoor cafe was lovely, there was no indoor restaurant to speak of other than the bar.
