Set in the cultural and commercial heart of Madrid, the Hotel Villa Real occupies a new building but contains many ancient artefacts. It is only a short walk from main sights, such as Puerta del Sol.

The collection of artefacts on show in the hotel include Roman mosaics and Greek Apulian vessels dating from the early third century BC to the fifth century AD. Throughout the new building, wood panelling, marble floors, painted stucco and antique furnishings blend seamlessly with state-of-the-art facilities. Outside the hotel, you will find the city´s main sights, such as Gran Vía, the Retiro Park and the world-renowned galleries only a few minutes away.

Area information

The hotel is located in the centre of Madrid’s Golden Triangle of Art. This spectacular area is rich in history, beauty, culture and art, with the highest concentration of world-class art museums in the world. The Museo del Prado, the Myseo Thyssen - Bornemisza and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia form the 3 corners of the triangle and each of them is just a few hundred metres away from the hotel.

Puerta del Sol is just 600 metres from the hotel. The square is one of the busiest and most well known places in Madrid and contains the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the Twelve Grapes and the beginning of a new year.

The tranquil beauty of Parque del Buen Retiro is less than a kilometre from the hotel. This large and popular park consists of 350 acres of parkland in the centre of the city.

Plaza de Cibeles has been adopted as the city’s symbol and this attractive square, will all of its stunning sculptures and fountains, is just 500 metres from the hotel.

The location is perfect and the design is very nice. The breakfast is not cheap, but it is excuisite and focussed on quality and elegance before quantitity.

very helpful staff, living area in the suite was comfortable, location was excellent

the mattress sagged and the bed creaked, the room smelled badly of smoke, there was no place to put luggage on the bedroom level, the walls and some furniture were banged up

The location is fabulous. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they speak English. There is a computer in the lobby for guest use. The room was very pleasant and large compared to other European hotels.

There is no self serve ice.

Location

Requested a quiet room in the hotel and received a room on the first floor. During the last night of our stay I complained to hotel reception due to an almighty racket from the floors above which started at 0730hrs. On further inspection my husband confirmed that the whole of the second floor was being renovated. The hotel staff initially denied this and when we came to check out they then agreed that we had been correct, and we were then offered a discount on our last nights rate.

It is nice hotel - quiete, the room looks nice, it is adequate size. What I really liked is the bottle of wine presented by hotel - it is very good and very much in time

I do not think it is really worth what it costs. It is nice hotel, but not more than that. The disadvantage that the underground station is rather far. The breakfast is not bad, but not so good to pay so high price.
