Hostal Virgen del Mar Holidays

The room was tidied after our first day and this impressed us as sometimes this does not happen. The staff were very helpful when we made enquiries about the bus timetable.

Excellent location. View from the room to the sea. Large spacious rooms. Very clean. Nearby are many places for free parking.

We booked this Hostal as overspill accommodation close to a family holiday home in Mojacar, and will definitely do so again. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, above a row of café/bars with a balcony facing across the street to the beach. There was a very effective blackout curtain, to stop the room being flooded with light at sunrise. Noise was not a problem mid-week in May. This mainly consisted of the sound of locals discussing the issues of the day while playing dominoes on the terrace of Bar Isabel downstairs, where we also took breakfast. Excellent value for money with aircon, TV and a very strong WiFi signal (about 3 Meg).

Nothing to dislike - does exactly what it says on the tin!

clean tidy i have a place in mojacar which is being sold and i stayed at the hostal for closeness and i have stopped there a few times over last 10 yrs always clean and friendly

The hotel was very clean, maid service every day, staff very helpful but did not speak any English at all.

All we wanted was somewhere to stay for the night and what we got was excellent. We would have been quite happy to stay for a week. Tea/Coffee making facilities. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds.

No running water late afternoon/early evening however I believe this was beyond the control of the Hostal.

Although we only stopped for one night we certainly stop there again.

We stopped in 106/107 we forgot to tell the staff but the toilet cistern was continually running

Excellent little hostal, large rooms, good sized single beds and fantastic views. It's worth the extra couple of £'s for the sea view. It was clean and very comfortable - tea and coffee making facilities were a little bonus as not all hostals provide this. This is our 4th stay here. Highly recommended.

Room size was very spacious. Beds were very comfortable and a generous size. Tea and coffee making facilities supplied. View over the Med was glorious. Hot water on demand. A/c if needed and heating if needed. Very convenient to all amenities - beach, shops, restaurants and bars. I thought the facilities at Hostel Virgin Del Mar were better than the Hotel where we stayed last year.

We got a bit of a shock when we arrived as we thought we were booked into hotel Virgin Del Mar and it was closed! Our mistake and soon rectified as the hostel was well signed. Would have liked a small fridge in the room.

It was very near to the restaurants, bars and cafes. We got parked across the road so wasn't a problem once parked up. The hotel didn't have a bar or restaurant but there were plenty around for cheap meals and tapas. We also had wi-fi which was helpful in planning the rest of our trip. Rooms were very big and very clean, bathroom was massive and the shower was excellent. Would go there again if in the area.

It was in a very good location, walking distance to all amenities and the beach was right in front. It was clean and spacious.

On the info sheet it said check in at 14:00h but when I got there and 14:15 there was nobody at the desk and I had to call all 3 tel.numbers before I got an answer. Checking out was also a problem. There was nobody there at 11:00 so again I had to call all 3 numbers. I waited 10 min before somebodt turned up. As it was low season, the main hotel was close so I cannot comment on their overall services.

Location.Quiet. Close to shops, restaurants etc

Access was a bit difficult, especially for disabled or people with walking problems. Cleanliness not too good.many hairs on floor, in bidet, and a drinking straw under the bed, which was still there after the second night. Not enough milk sachets. No normal tea bags

Accessable to restaurants, beach and walking. Fantastic value for money. Included a bath and coffee/tea making facilities - not usual for Spain.

IT was clean and friendly at most of all a good budget stay

Nice building, very clean, my room had a sea view, air conditioning, small balcony with a table and the chairs,.Towels changed daily. There was a kettle, tea and coffee available in the room. The closest beach is across the road :) Good value for money, Id definitely stay here again.

No breakfast in the hotel, but just next door there is a couple of inexpensive restaurants and cafeterias

Budget hotel, no frills but clean and good value. Run by a lovely old couple . It was very quiet saying as the area resembled 'spring break' and it was also the evening Spain won the euros!! A very nice restaurant at the front of the building and a short walk to some excellent beach bars, a very nice stay. Would use again.

Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of room and facilities.

This was an excellent budget hotel. The rooms have clearly just had a makeover and the furnishings etc are simple but attractive. Tea/coffee facilities were appreciated, and the place was spotless. Being right on the beachside road I would think it would be a bit noisy in high summer, but then most hotels in the area would have that problem.

Was a bit dubious as I had never stayed at a "hostal" before but I was more than happy with my room, big bright clean & comfortable. I booked a room for 2 as I wanted a balcony & sea view & I was not disappointed. Big bright bathroom also with a few lttle extras (tissues, cotton wool pads, sealed comb etc). Nice little flat screen tv with radio which was great when sitting on the large balcony. Definitely recommend & would go back without hesitation. Great value for money.

Arriving outwith "reception hours" might be a problem for getting key. I was lucky that a frien din the resort managed to collect it for me. Perhaps they could allow you to collect from their hotel next door.

Very good Hostal for small money. There are sea view rooms with balcony, and they costs the same. Very nice lady at the reception speaks rather bad english, but ready to help in each problem.

There were some problems with wi-fi, but closer to reception everything was ok.

There was no hot water in our friends room the first night, and the shower bracket in my room was useless as the shower head would not fit and it was impossible to shower.
