Great view of the Alhambra and good breakfast in bar next door. In a very good location.
Lack of knowledge about verifying discounted tickets. Knowledge of C3 and C4 bus to Alhambra. Recommended restaurant around the corner served the worst tapas ever. Cafe next door much better. Variable paella and high prices at outdoor restaurants in square.
Accessibility to transport and Alhambra. Excellent Flamenco show nearby
Our room was 301 and, although it was just as full of character and had a balcony looking out to the Alhambra, it was certainly inferior to the first floor room we had the last time we stayed. Storage space was just about adequate for a two night stay and the fridge had to be turned off at night, so that the noise of its workings didn't keep us awake. In spite of the bathroom being clean, there was an unpleasant smell of drains at various times during the day. None of these points actually spoiled our holiday, but we would definitely try to book room 101, if we were to visit again. One piece of general advice to first-time visitors to Granada....the pavement surface around and across the nearby Plaza Nueva is like sheet ice and absolutely lethal! The locals might be used to calling ambulances, but save them the trouble and take sensible walking shoes, if you want to enjoy your stay in Granada.
This was our second visit to Granada and Zaguan del Darro, so we were obviously impressed with the location, staff, cleanliness and character of the hotel. It was lovely to see that little had changed. Our family stayed in room 201, which was the junior suite and were very happy with the décor, comfort and the bonus of tea/coffee making facilities.
Great location, quiet room, helpful staff. Beautifully decorated lobby.
Staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. Excellent location, close to Alhambra with beautiful view from bedroom balcony.
The large attic style room was great. Very good cafe for breakfast right down stairs.
Car parking is some 10 minute walk aweay
Busy area near Alhambra
The only issue we had was that the room was cold, but we did notice the heating got switched on the day we left! I think Granada was just suffering from an unusually cold spell for the time of year, so we were probably unlucky.
The building has heaps of character, and is beautifully decorated in keeping with the age and style of this old 16th century Franciscan convent. The location is perfect - right by the Rio Darro and Granada's Albayzín (old Moroccan quarter) and it's superb value for money. Wifi is also really fast and worked perfectly in our room.
The room is quite old fashioned although serviceable. Beds were tiny twins (I was traveling with my adult daughter, so no biggy) and lighting in rooms is in the economical European tradition: dim. There is no safe deposit box in the room, but the manager gave us strong assurances that our things would be secure and happily, they were (computer etc). The WiFi is availabe only in the lobby
The location and the staff were great! There is a small restaurant on the ground floor of the building open for breakfast and lunch only. But if you stay here, have breakfast there. The cafe con leche is fabulous and there is freshly squeezed orange juice. Very inexpensive.
The cleanliness and darkness. No parking and difficult drop off. I would have appreciated knowing in advance re parking. The location was historic Nd convenient grey view of the lalhambra
The staff where very nice and helpful.
There was a drainage smell in the room . No wifi in room. Fridge very noisy. Bannister rail unsafe . Very basic accommodation.
Poor internet quality. Would have been nice if they offered breakfast too, but wasn't really a problem with this.
Great location, very beautiful and comfortable hotel. We are definitely coming back again!!
The Hotel was quiet and comfortable. No food was available but there are plenty of good, reasonably priced food outlets close by.
The quaintness of the building and layout of the room
Since we were there in the winter, we pretty much had the hotel to ourselves but I can imagine that when it is full, it could be noisy.
The location was great, although difficult to drive to. If you are unloading a car, you can park temporarily near the taxi stand at the Plaza Nueve. If you continue driving into the semi-pedestrian zone along the Darro, you’ll have trouble dodging the tourists and finding a place to stop. If you end up driving up and through the Albaicín, you’ll have quite an adventure! If you do, be sure to tell them at the reception desk, otherwise you’ll get a ticket in the mail. You have to give them your license plate number because your car will be photographed some way along the line and they will have to apply for a special permit for your car. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is antique and charming but you won’t be having a Hilton experience. Our room had a slight plumbing odor but it wasn’t penetrating. If you’re sensitive, sniff the room before settling in. Early breakfast wasn’t easy to find but if you head towards the cathedral, you’ll probably stumble onto a churros café. You might want to look around for one the night before. I liked having a fridge in the room although it wasn’t in the best of shape. In any case, it wasn’t humming loudly at night – a bit of a mystery considering. Bathroom was roomy and the water was hot but, once again, you’d do well to check everything thoroughly and, if need be, request another room before settling in.
Not a good hotel to stay in if you have mobility problems as both rooms we had required us to climb up quite a narrow set of stairs. However both rooms were lovely. Wi-fi really only works if you are on the ground or first floor, otherwise you have to go and sit in the lobby.
The first room we were in (had to move part way through due to booking late) had an amazing view of the Al-hambra palace, The second one didn't but both are lovely and very comfortable. Hotel is in a good location, as most places are within walking distance, and you can get a bus to the Alhambra from nearby.
Although WiFi is available, it cannot really be used in the room. However, there is no way to fix this as the walls are thick concrete. This is not a major issue as there is a lounge area in the lobby.
This hotel is in a great location and fits in well with the rest of the old neighbourhoods in the area. It's very clean and the staff are attentive and very helpful. We stayed in a room with a balcony right behind the Alhambra. If I return to Granada I will definitely come back to this hotel.
The hotel was in a brilliant location. We visit granada often and have stay all over, this hotel's location is among the best. The hotel can be noisy, but it is in the centre of a busy, vibrant town, so this will happen in most hotels.
It got a little drafty and the hot water would run out in the shower. It was unusually cold while we were there, so that may be why. We would still like to stay there again.
Everything! It was a great location with a great view of the Alhambra! The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bar downstairs had great food. We can't wait to go again.
Only one small negative - the bed was really comfortable apart from the bolster style of pillow!
Really liked the 'courtyard' feel of the reception area, as well as the decoration here and in the room. Staff were really polite and helpful...happy to store our bag after check leaving us free to explore Granada. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you
Friendly, organised, small & with personal service.
Finding it by car nearly ended in divorce. Wifi could be better, but we were on holiday, so not that important to us.
The location was excellent. Rooms comfortable, staff helpful and the cafe downstairs was nice.
Slightly dark, run-down feel. Some broken fittings in our bedroom. Car parking is a nightmare, as is dropping luggage off.
Small, characterful hotel in quiet but central location. Reasonably priced and with friendly staff.
Location is perfect for Albacyn, beautiful old hotel with the friendliest, helpful staff
