I liked the courtesy of the staff, the absolute cleanliness of the place and the good state of the room I stayed in. Some rotational partial change over the days of the week in the variety of the breakfast on offer (the breakfast was very good indeed) would make for a varied breakfast experience! |

Quirky to be in an old prison building but decorated to a high standard and very very comfortable. Staff were friendly and spoke perfect English, Breakfast buffet had lots of tasty options. |

The idea of using an old prison is original, but that^'s about it Distance to center, maybe this was meant to be on purpose, but personnel not very friendly, they are not prison guards at 156 eur a night for a below average room |

Being a former jail, it was an interesting building. Comfortable. Short tram ride from senate square (town centre). Was too expensive for what you get. Room was a bit small (being a former cell, well 2 actually). Breakfast was a poor selection and literally everything was taken away at 10am on the dot. You couldnt even get an extra drop of coffee or juice to finish off the breakfast. Sauna hours were very short and wasnt included in your room price. The area where the hotel is, is very quiet. Not much choice for pub or restaurants, you will have to take a tram ride. But that was not too much trouble. |

The location is superb, tram nr. 4 + 4T across the street brings you within 12 minutes to Stockmann. The hotel lies 10 min. walking distance from the harbour, market etc. Tip: Linda Line to Tallinn (daytrip). I really liked our room, spacious, clean and cosy. The remarkable building really makes it worth while visiting. During our visit we booked (because it was a busy period) Hotel Katajanokka, Grand Marina and Klaus K. When I come back I will book Katajanokka again, the others couldn't stand up to this hotel. Tip to backpackers. If you don't have the money book the youth hostel next to Katajanokka, it has all the advantages with regard to the location. I did the same, years ago (when I was a student and had little money). |

The hotel is very different from any other hotel I have ever been. It was as if you were in a real prison (but in a luxurious one). The location was very good, it was at a walking distance to the port and the touristic area. |

Excellent hotel! Walking distance to the city center, nice neighborhood, very interesting interior design (the hotel building used to be a prison), very comfortable room, good breakfast ... we were absolutely delighted with our stay there! Some noise outside very early in the morning (4-5 am) because of garbage collection service, but once you close the window it becomes bearable |

Location and experience staying in an hotel that used to be a prison. In terms of architectural/interior design is well done. Breakfast could be much better. |

Fantastic idea - turning an old prison into a hotel! The rooms are very contemporary and have a lot of little extras like a kettle and coffee/tea, body lotion and a heated bathroom floor. The beds were super comfortable. I'm afraid to say the kitchen lets this hotel down. The buffet breakfast was not as well supplied as the other Scandinavian hotels I have stayed at, and on of the waiting staff was quite surly. At dinner, the chicken I ordered was dry and hard and the flavours didn't go together. It was more like short order than restaurant quality. I wouldn't eat here again until they got a new chef. |

The room has a sauna. I could enjoy it. At first day, air conditioning didn't work and too hot. I couldn't enjoy sauna this day. / Staff in the restaurant (breakfast) was very unsociability. (Is this hotel's direction? lika a prisoner?) |

It was great that we were staying in a piece of Finnish history! Food was good and I felt like I was in another country, not just staying at another generic hotel. We asked for a trundle bed on one night and it never arrived. |

We liked its location very convenient to anyone who uses the ferry from or to other Scandinavian and Baltic countries as well as its historic characteristic. It is also very cozy and its staff is very friendly. In fact, in all aspects this hotel filled our expectations. |
